Hi! I'm looking for recommendations of females leads that are actually strong and intelligent (e.g. Wei Yingluo and Zhen Huan). I'm tired of supposedly female characters who are brilliant but clumsy and/or innocent. I find it annoying that female characters who are written as capable have to have stereotypical flaws associated with our gender. Why not write female characters with complex flaws such as lack of confidence and past traumas? Why do they necessarily have to be flaws that make them become damsels in distress? I would tolerate it if there was character development but unfortunately, there isn't.
I was watching a C-drama in which the female lead was a detective. Everything was going excellent until she started stumbling around, walking in the clouds.... As a detective, she shouldn't have been like that, as the nature of their job requires them to be cautious. Her characterization was degraded to the ridiculous.
I want to see C-dramas with consistent female characters. It doesn't matter if it is wuxia, xianxia, modern.
