I know that stories from classic wuxia authors (Jin Yong, Gu Long, etc) have been adapted into dramas. I'm wondering which modern authors have multiple stories that have been adapted.

I know that Mao Ni have three of his stories adapted already: Ever Night, Joy of Life, and Fighter of the Destiny (I really enjoyed the first two, but not so much the latter).

Are there other good authors with good stories being adapted that I should be aware of?

The tomb raider series by Kennedy Xu? Tong Hua has a few too, Scarlet Heart, Sound of the Desert, Yun Zhong Ge and two more iirc. Gu Man has Boss and Me, Love O2O and a few more.

I forgot to mention that I'm specifically interested in wuxia/xianxia authors, but it's good to know about modern-story authors, too! It gives me a more complete picture.

Tong Hua is pretty good in xianxia (A Lifetime Love & Lost You Forever) imho, I don't rmb her doing wuxia tho. You may be interested to check out her novels, some were completely translated:

  • Da Mo Yao (Sound of the Desert)
  • Lost You Forever (Highly recommended, xianxia, rumoured will be adapted into drama but few years passed, still no news about it)

Tangqi Gongzi is another author which has works adapted into drama --- TMoPB, Pillow Book and Hua Xu Yin.

Thank you for these authors. I'll look them up.

Not wuxia, but Ding Mo has a couple adaptions so far:

Love me if you dare

When a snail falls in love

Our Glamorous Time

Memory Lost

I highly recommend not only watching the drama adaption but also reading the novel. I'm currently reading "when a snail falls in love" and imo the novel is so much better than the adaption, even though I enjoy both. I also plan to read all of her other works.

Heavenly Silkworm Potato (Tian Can Tudou) has three novel adaptations:

Battle through the Heavens (Fights Break Sphere)
The Great Ruler
Wu Dong Qian Kun (Martial Universe)

He is a popular author but I wouldn't really call him great. He has a habit of forgetting his own lore, writing two dimensional female characters and succumbing to cliches. His novels are readable and somewhat enjoyable + Fights Break Sphere with Wu Leo is one of my guilty pleasures. Not a masterpiece, has a lot of flaws but you can't stop watching it.

@Cherish, thank you for the info. Where can you read these novels?

@mengostine, I've had my eye on these dramas, didn't know that they're from the same author! Thank you for this info.

Sorry for my late reply - I honestly didn't notice that you replied to me. I think I didn't get the notification or it is broken, I'm not sure... Anyway:

I don't know if I'm allowed to tell this, but here are a few links:

Please keep in mind they are all fan translations, so the quality of translation may vary. But I think they are pretty decent ones. I've seen way worse official translations

@Cherish, thank you for the links! I really appreciate it.
