I watch this Hong Kong/Chinese multi-series drama in the late 1990s and believe it was produced between the 1980s to early 1990s. The drama took place in historical Chinese times and the plot was something like this, in the beginning of the series there is this girl who is either a princess or of high status. She does sinful deeds like hunting animals and is punished. At the same time she falls in love with a guy who is of lower status. Because of her sinful deeds she is taken to the underworld to be reincarnated in which she will be reincarnated in about 20 years or something. Meanwhile the guy trains to stay healthy and fit, so once she reincarnates and becomes of age, he can win her back.
