MAIN CAST |
HAN SO HEE AS YOON JI WOO After her father’s death, she joins a gang and learns how to fight. Some of you know her from dramas such as The World of the Married or this year’s Nevertheless. | AHN BOHYUN AS JEON PIL DO He plays the role of a police officer working in the Drug Investigation Unit who prefers to solve cases by the law. You can watch his acting in the currently airing drama Yumi’s Cells. | PARK HEE SOON AS CHOI MOO JIN He plays the role of a gang leader and the biggest drug dealer who’s the hardest person to get caught by the police. He played in Beautiful World and many popular movies. |
1. ACTING |
Earlier this year, we could see Han Soohee’s acting in Nevertheless. I can’t even compare her previous role to this one. Before? It was good. In My Name? It was phenomenal! She did a really good job of showing emotions, and her actions scenes were on top. On the other hand, it was my first time seeing Park Hee Son’s work, and I got really surprised by his acting. He probably made me love this antihero role a bit too much, haha.
I should also mention other actors such as Jang Yool or Kim Sang Ho, who made this drama even more interesting with their supporting roles. Actors are people who can always carry the show with their great acting if the script lacks anything (I’m not saying this drama did, though, haha).
2. ACTION SCENES |
My Name has fight scenes every few minutes. Usually, such dramas get really boring for someone who’s not really into scenes where 10 characters hit each other's bodies 3 minutes straight. But this drama is totally different. I could never get bored during such scenes! Every actor gave their all, the acting was amazing (honestly, sometimes I could feel the punch through the TV with the characters, haha), and these scenes were greatly balanced between the other ones.
3. NOIR TYPE |
As you could see in the tags, My Name is a drama of neo-noir type. There aren’t many positions in Korean TV series containing this tag (although Korea loves noir movies, that’s a different talk), so it’s definitely a must-watch for people who like something darker.
*other noir dramas for example Beyond Evil, Cruel City
4. PLOT |
The plot might sound typical for you. “Another boring revenge series”, you could think. But let me tell you: it’s not. While it can be predictable in some moments, it still gets you on the edge of the seat with every scene. There’s always something happening. No time to catch a breath. Perfect for binge-watching.
