"Love Next Door" Actors Bid Farewell with Final Remarks
Netflix has released character posters and stills from Uprising, featuring Kang Dong Won, Park Jeong Min, Kim Shin Rok, Jin Seon Kyu, Jung Sung Il, and Cha Seung Won.
Uprising is set in the chaotic era of the Japanese invasions of Korea. It tells the story of Jong Ryeo (Park Jeong Min), the son of Joseon's most powerful military family, and his slave Cheon Young (Kang Dong Won), who, after growing up together during the chaotic times of the Japanese invasions of Korea, meet again as enemies.
In the K-drama, Kang Dong Won takes on the role of Cheon Young, a slave with exceptional swordsmanship. Cheon Young is a character who struggles to escape slavery and regain his former status as a free commoner.
Park Jeong Min plays Jong Ryeo, the only son of the most prestigious military family in Joseon. He shares a close friendship with his servant Cheon Yeong, with whom he practiced martial arts from a young age, that transcends their social statuses. However, upon hearing that Cheon Yeong killed his entire family, he is overwhelmed by a sense of betrayal and vows to take revenge on him.
Cha Seung Won makes a bold transformation as King Seon Jo, a king who flees and abandons his people in times of chaos. Instead of tending to the people who lost their way after the war, he focuses solely on restoring his royal authority and rebuilding Gyeongbokgung Palace.
Kim Shin Rok plays Beom Dong, a member of the Righteous Army (commoners who took up arms to fight against the invaders). Beom Dong is a fierce character who charges forward without hesitation towards her target. She has an unyielding spirit that cannot be broken by either her enemies or the rigid social hierarchy.
Jin Seon Kyu plays Kim Ja Ryung, a leader of the Righteous Army who leads the people in times of chaos. He is a scholar with a clear conviction to uphold his values and a humane leader who listens attentively to the stories of the war-weary soldiers.
Jung Sung Il plays Genshin, a ruthless vanguard of the Japanese army. Wearing a goblin mask, Genshin roams the battlefield like a hunting ground, making the Joseons tremble in fear.
Uprising is coming to Netflix on October 11.
