Na In Woo makes a bold transformation in 'Motel California'

Na In Woo makes a bold transformation into a character weighing 120kg in MBC's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Motel California.

Motel California tells the story of Ji Gang Hui, a woman who was born and raised in a rural motel. Due to her upbringing and mixed-raced family background, she became the subject of gossip among the local residents, leaving her with a deep emotional wound. After building a successful career in Seoul, she returns to her hometown years later and reunites with Cheon Yeon Su, her childhood friend. 

Actress Lee Se Young plays Ji Gang Hui, an interior designer who has lived a challenging life, while Na In Woo stars as Cheon Yeon Su, a veterinarian whose life is completely upended after reuniting with Gang Hui, after 12 years.

The released stills feature Cheon Yeon Su in his younger days. It is revealed that Na In Woo achieved this look through special makeup and prosthetics.

A behind-the-scenes video capturing the process of creating Na In Woo's "Teddy Bear" look has also been released. The video showcases Na In Woo undergoing special makeup for about 2 hours. Special makeup artist Lee Hee Eun shared insights, saying, "I focused on making him look as natural as possible, and not too overweight or artificial."

The video also shows Na In Woo wearing a heavy bodysuit for the look. The actor commented, "When filming with special effects makeup, it can sometimes be challenging to express emotions clearly, so I'm working hard to make my expressions stand out."

He also shared his thoughts on the transformation, saying, "It's fascinating and fun to see myself as if I had gained weight. There are many cute and amusing scenes thanks to the makeup, so I hope everyone will take a lot of interest."
