'When the Phone Rings' concludes on high note, 'When the Stars Gossip' premieres with strong ratings
Gong Hyo Jin, Oh Jung Se, Heo Nam Jun, and Lee Cho Hee go to space carrying important missions of their own.
When the Stars Gossip follows Eve Kim (Gong Hyo Jin), a top astronaut and perfectionist who does not tolerate even a single mistake, and Gong Ryong (Lee Min Ho), who goes to the space station with a secret mission.
In the K-drama, space scientists Eve Kim, Kang Gang Soo (Oh Jung Se), Lee Seung Joon (Heo Nam Jun), and Mina Lee (Lee Cho Hee) conduct research on various diseases that happen to people on Earth through experiments on living organisms, including animals and plants, aboard a space station where everything becomes weightless.
Conducting their research, the scientists grow close to their test subjects — fruit flies and mice — as they eat, sleep, and live with them. Eve Kim and Lee Seung Joon, who are in charge of the mice, and Kang Gang Soo, who is responsible for the fruit flies, are striving to discover ways to cure diseases affecting humans using these organisms in the zero-gravity environment of space.
Given the many variables of space, all procedures, from fruit fly breeding to surgical operations on mice, take place in conditions vastly different from those on Earth. As such, the experiments conducted by Eve Kim, Lee Seung Joon, and Kang Gang Soo's experiments are not expected to proceed smoothly. The question arises: will they be able to achieve their goals aboard the space station?
Meanwhile, Mina Lee, the scientist in charge of plants, is researching whether it is possible to cultivate plants in space as global warming is becoming increasingly severe on Earth. Driven by a mission to address humanity's food issues by growing plants in space, Mina Lee has a strong sense of responsibility, and constantly and anxiously checks if mold has grown on her lettuce and tomatoes.
Thus, When the Stars Gossip promises to entertain viewers by showcasing the struggles of space scientists Eve Kim, Kang Gang Soo, Mina Lee, and Lee Seung Joon as they work tirelessly to fulfill their respective missions aboard the space station.
When the Stars Gossip premieres on January 4, 2025. The K-drama will be available to stream on Netflix.
