안녕~ ^^ We've already reached September, and it's time to talk about stuff that happened in August. Where did the year go? Only a few months left and we'll be closing the year 2020 in South Korean entertainment circle. So before we reach the end, buckle up and first check out what's been going on in August.

  • Gummy and Jo Jung Suk announced through their agency that they've welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on August 6, 2020. ~ Naver, Soompi
  • Lee Young Ah announced through her agency that she and her non-celebrity boyfriend welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on August 22, 2020. ~ Naver

  • Ryu Deok Hwan (33) announced through a handwritten letter posted on his fancafe that he will tie the knot with his non-celebrity girlfriend of seven years in October 2020. ~ Naver, Soompi
  • TVXQ's Chang Min (32) announced the postponement of his wedding with his non-celebrity girlfriend to a later date, due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The wedding was initially planned for September 5, 2020. ~ Naver
  • Bae Seul Gi (33) announced through a handwritten letter posted on her Instagram that she will tie the knot with her non-celebrity boyfriend, but that the wedding ceremony that was planned for late September will be pushed back to a later date due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases. ~ Naver, Soompi



  • Several celebrities stepped up and donated to the Korea Disaster Relief Association to help those affected by Korea's ongoing heavy rain and flooding.   • BTS's J-Hope donated 100 million won (~ $83,700) to ChildFund Korea to help vulnerable children who are suffering from financial difficulties following COVID-19 issue. ~ Naver
  • GOT7's Young Jae officially registered on August 21, 2020, to be an organ donor. ~ Naver, Soompi
  • BOY's Song Yu Vin donated masks for underprivileged children through ChildFund Korea. ~ Naver
  • IU donated 4,600 cooling vests, valued at around 100 million won (~ $83,700) through the Community Chest of Korea to help healthcare workers as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. ~ Naver
  • Former SS501's member Kim Hyun Joong helped save a man during his recent visit to a Japanese restaurant on Jeju island. Kim Hyun Joong saw the restaurant's chef collapse and with quick reaction went to provide first-aid. He then instructed the staff to call the paramedics and massaged the chef's chest to make him stay awake until the paramedics came. Afterwards, he helped move the chef to the ambulance vehicle and explained to the paramedics what happened in detail. ~ Naver









  • Noh Ji Hoon revealed to have been in a minor car accident caused by the rainy and wet street, which caused his car to skid on the road. ~ Instagram
  • 2PM's Nichkhun has filed a request for a restraining order against a woman who has been stalking him. He filed the request on July 6, and the first questioning of the woman has been held on August 5. ~ Naver
  • Undisclosed KBS comedian who was caught illegally filming women a total of 47 times from October 2018 to May 2020 in the KBS building, has pleaded guilty to all charges on August 14 on his first trial. ~ Naver
  • Kim Won Hae and 14 other participants of the theatrical production for Jjamppong (짬뽕 ) have tested positive for COVID-19 and have since halted all activities and closed for the time being the practice rooms and the theater where the play was planned to be held. ~ Naver, Naver, Soompi
  • The screenwriter Jo Yong of It'sOkay to Not Be Okay (tvN) has confirmed that she will release and publish five children's books from the drama. ~ Naver, Soompi
