Bakuman. is a Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, the same creative team responsible for Death Note. This manga sold over 13 million copies as of April 2012, and remained on the New York Times Manga Graphic Books list for eight weeks straight.

It has been announced that the manga will receive a live-action movie for 2015. The director will be Hitoshi Oone (Vampire HostMoteki). The illustrator of the manga, Takeshi Obata, will also be participating in drawing the manga script in the movie.

Summary of the manga:

Moritaka Mashiro (Saiko), with his superb drawing skill, is invited by his writing genius classmate Akito Takagi (Shujin) to tread the difficult path of the mangaka. Saiko's sights are set on his naive yet earnest joint dream with Miho Azuki, who is aiming to become a voice actress. Saiko and Shujin team up as writer and artist, aiming to be serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, make a hit, and then release an anime. They bring their manuscripts to the editors and set off on the road to becoming pro manga artists.
