Current Happenings in KDramaland
So much news this week, so little time! First off, Happy Lunar New Year to all those who celebrate it! Hope you have much fortune and luck this coming year. Now, on to the good stuff!
You Who Came From The Stars Extension In the Works!
TV Report stated, just a few days ago, that because You Who Came From the Stars did not air on the Lunar New Year, there have been talks about adding a 1 episode extension. This is what I was really hoping for, and it seems like it will be a go.
The writer, Park Ji Eun, has already gotten approval from both the cast and SBS to do so, but no official word has been issued as of yet. I'm watching on nearly an hourly basis because this will be the highlight of my current airing dramas!
Are you hoping for another episode of Do Min Joo and Choi Song Yi? I want to see an ending that shows me little alien babies running around!
Give Love Away Adds New Cast Member
Yoon Park will be joining the cast this week of Give Love Away as announced by JYP Entertainment. For those that were his fan in Good Doctor, here's your chance to see even more of this guy! I'm sure he will be a great addition to this drama and a pleasant surprise for those who will be watching this weekend.
He will be in the role of Kim Jung Sung, a movie production assistant who dreams of becoming a movie director.
New Drama Casting in the Works
Oh Yeon Seo and Lee Yoo Ri are both talking with MBC about a new weekend drama that is set to air after Give Love Away. Jang Bo Ri is Here, confirmed but not cast yet, will be about a mom and her two daughters who go from rich to poor (one daughter) and poor to rich (other daughter) nearly overnight.
It seems both actresses are very interested in the roles and it looks like it might be a go for both of them. These are the two daughters they are trying to cast.
Kansong Museum hits the Modern Age
One of the most difficult museums to visit is the Kansong Museum. It's only open twice a year, and only for approx. two weeks at a time. However, it houses some of the most impressive pieces of historic art, pottery, and other collectibles. Why am I bringing this up on a drama blog? Because any of us that like saeguk dramas have fallen in love with the history of Korea and that includes the art, my friends!
This week the museum opened up a gallery online! Now, it's only got around 30 images so far, but I have a feeling this is just the beginning of a much larger project. Some of the items in this gallery are beyond priceless and are just beautiful. I'd almost try and schedule my visit to Korea just to make sure I could visit this museum when it was open!
Because this is a private museum, gathering information about the estimated 5,000-6,000 items stored is nearly impossible. The gallery of images is available Monday and you can view some photos and get history on the museum and it's national treasures HERE.
Jung Yu Mi and Yoo Ah In are the Voices Behind New Animation
Both actors, Jung Yu Mi and Yoo Ah In, are doing the character voices for a new full-length animation to come out next month, The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow. This animation is highly anticipated and is by highly acclaimed short-film animation king Jang Hyung Yun.
In the new animation, a space satellite called Il-ho observes Earth from her vantage point, curious about humans, particularly when it concerns issues of the heart. One of the people she has been observing is the singer-songwriter Kyung-chun who, when left by his girlfriend, turns into a milk cow. While on the run from a machine that devours creatures with broken hearts (the Incinerator), he is saved by a roll of toilet paper (?) that calls himself Merlin the Wizard. Il-ho then falls to earth and turns into a girl.
So, it might sound a little wacky and out there (at least to me, a roll of toilet paper? But this is anime... it's not supposed to be normal!
Enjoy your week!
