high quality, romantic.
Lovely, high quality, BL. Be sure to watch to the very very end. Dont cry too much on the way.I recommend this. There are some really good reviews out there so I dont have much to say except, the actors are so good and sooo young. Oh yes, also one of the two directors is a cinematographer and the other a screenwriter so that may account for the overall high quality.
The plot makes sense and has a clear clean structure. As always the theme of art and artists is fun to watch. As life becomes homogenized and Disneyfied, creativity, coming-of-age stories, individuality and bravery continue to be psychologically important.
All of these actors bear watching in the future, I would advise following them now. It is hard to be outstanding in this cast, all are excellent and charmingly good-looking but I would pick out Zhang Xuan Wu (21) for sheer beauty and outstanding charisma, and Yao Xing Hao for acting skills beyond his years (26).
As always BL is ahead of the international pack in new and trending themes and structures. Due to its brilliant and faithful audience (us, a'course!), creators can be experimental on shoestring budgets. More power to them.
Of the two directors, Li Xi was the cinematographer for Rise of Phoenixes, and has 2 more out this year, Bank on me and 13 Years of Dust. Ning Yuan Yuan was the screenwriter and director of An Insignificant Affair and an actress in The Hotel and Little Flowers,

TOP TIER BL OF 2024!!!
I'm utterly captivated by "blue canvas of youthful days ", a show that has not only met but exceeded my expectations. The series is a feast for the eyes, with breathtaking scenery that perfectly complements the beautifully crafted OST. The cinematography is stunning, making every frame a work of art.
But what truly sets this show apart is its thoughtful exploration of sensitive topics, including domestic abuse and mental illness. The writers handle these complex issues with care and nuance, never shying away from the tough conversations.
At the heart of the series are two incredible characters who support and accept each other for who they are. Their love story is a powerful reminder that true happiness comes from embracing our true selves and loving without condition.
One quote from the show has stuck with me: "My wish for the future: Do what I like and love the one I love." It's a simple yet profound message that resonates deeply.
This scene from episode 12 was one of my favourites in this drama.
Overall, "Blue canvas of youthful days "is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates thoughtful storytelling, stunning visuals, and authentic representation. With its talented cast, beautiful scenery, and moving performances, this show is an absolute gem.

Interesting and infuriating
I don’t write reviews. But I am just flabbergasted by this. I read another review that mentioned there was a scene after the end credits on the last episode. I missed that when I first watched it. Not that it actually improved things, but at least I found out where they wanted it to go.The adult in me was both irritated and impressed at what I *thought* the ending actually was - them parting ways without actually knowing that the other also walked away, and in theory having no idea that the other’s path had been destroyed too. They sacrificed for each other, but neither of those sacrifices would have been necessary had they talked and realized that it no longer mattered. Had they talked, broken-hand’s exam was already ruined, so rich kid didn’t have to worry about his dad anymore. They could have peaced-out together with his mom. The avoidable tragedy was actually interesting to me. Folly of youth, real-life stuff. Neither got to do what they wanted, or love who they wanted. Both thought they were making it possible for the other to do what they wanted. The irony of that is actually great. But then…. The end scene.
I cannot express how annoying it is to have no idea how they overcame the obstacles. The text frames at the end just hand-waved it all away. The piece of human garbage Dad just…. Stops? The broken hand somehow doesn’t impact the entrance exam? Come on. Maybe he took it the next year, which he said he didn’t want to do, but maybe he did anyways. Who knows. But I guess it all worked out after all, somehow.
The music was wonderful. I don’t often notice the music, but it was very noticeable in this.

Nice everyday life drama
I am one of those who was disappointed when it got cancelled after airing 4 episodes. But was very happy when gagaoolala picked it up and completed. All the 4 MLs have done a good job in expressing their emotions.
Story: Though a regular story, it has a nice watch value. The start as strangers, becoming friends, then heading to being lovers. The confusion when you find someone who looks like passed away brother, how its overcome. A great touch is showing the life of deaf.
Acting: QL did a great job in not giving up getting what he likes, who he loves although started with a not so good intention. QX- the confusion, the jealousy when he realized he actually like QL was cute and typical😂 TY- The sadness, desperation when he could not communicate and knew LMY only likes him as a brother. LMY- The big confusion, withholding around TY. The comedic part of Turtle as supporting actor was really nice. I would rewatch it again😍

Was it Art or Love?
The finale showed some really lazy writing. A massive let down for a series that showed great promise. The first four episodes were titillating, then it started showing cracks. The visuals were amazing, the male leads were great but I struggled a bit with the chemistry, because it felt a little forced. They had moments when I thought they're steaming hot then they turned into brothers again.
The second couple had zero chemistry and we didn't really get to find out what they liked about each other. It was smart of them to assign the role of brother to the other blonde. Otherwise, it would have gotten really complicated.
It was refreshing to see a BL come out of China. We appreciate the warrior spirit that fought for its return. The setting was different, the casting solid. Overall a sweet love story for us to enjoy. Recommended for the slow moments in the calendar when nothing else is going on to binge and enjoy.

Such a beautiful series!! A little bit of a rushed ending, but so worth the watch!
I can't get over how beautiful the story in this series was! It was definitely a roller coaster of emotions, and very painful at times, but it was so beautiful! The progression of Qi Lu and Qin Xiao's relationship in the series from beginning to end was just perfect! Seeing it go from clearly liking each other but not admitting it, to Qi Lu admitting his feelings, Qin Xiao then denying his feelings, to him finally giving in, was just so beautiful to watch!
Same with Liu and Tan Yi. While I didn't love their story as much, their relationship progression was just as great to watch. Tan Yi pining for Liu, Liu drunkenly admitting his feelings while Tan Yi couldn't hear, to him then denying his feelings before finally giving in.. so perfect!
Honestly, almost everything about this series was so perfect to me! It had the perfect blend of pain before happiness, rejection then acceptance, and two people who felt trapped before finding each other and finally breaking free.
The ending was definitely more rushed than I'd have liked, but with how amazing I personally found the rest of the series, I didn't mind. I am just happy that we got a happy ending for both couples!!
One thing I did hate was Qi Lu's father.. I wanted so much more to happen to him for the abuse he was doing to Qi Lu. He is a disgusting piece of shit human being who doesn't deserve to breathe air so I hate that in the series nothing ever happens to him. He's even an influential person in the art world, and yet he doesn't even get that taken from him.. The one time Qi Lu actually stood up to him, he threatened Qin Xiao again to get him back under control 🙄 I'm really glad at the end of the series he was able to get away from him, and that even though he had to do what his father wanted because of the threatening, he only had to do it for a year and it was a year away from him!
I also am not a huge fan of miscommunication, or non-communication in this case. It drives me crazy when, if people would just talk to and be honest with each other, things may not have happened the way they did. If they had been honest with each other, when Qin Xiao hurt his hand and realized he couldn't take the exam to get into university, he would have known Qi Lu was being forced by his dad not going with his mom so he wouldn't have had to hide it. The only thing I'll say in that regard, is the dad could have threatened him again when Qin Xiao tried again to get into university.. I could see that happening, but it didn't ease my irritation with the non-communication causing a 6-year separation. I know that was needed for the angst and drama of the series, but miscommunication/non-communication is a trope many series tend to fall back on and I just really dislike it.
Regardless of that though, I thought this was a beautiful series! I'm so happy that both couples got happy endings with each other! I just really adored this and it's probably one of my top series from this year!
