What Negative Chemistry Looks Like
I finished this drama for Baek Hee Seop and Baek Hee Seop only. All my thoughts, consumed by Baek Hee Seop. What is Baek Hee Seop eating? What is Baek Hee Seop doing? Where is Baek Hee Seop going? The rest? The rest can literally vanish into one of 5 million plot holes this complete waste of time drama created. Why introduce plot devices and create interesting characters if you waste time creating a dumb murder mystery with "never let them guess your next move" as your sole guiding thought.
SPOILERS!
The unanswered questions and plot holes...where do I even start...
1. There is still zero reason why a seemingly loving father in the future (even if he was a serial killer before) would kill his son once his son found his crime out. There is no explanation, just a desire to protect themselves- like their son is a complete stranger.
2. The random future child showing up and saying "oh, you overlooked a loophole" and everyone seeming to GET IT? Is there a tax on dialogue now, because nothing else was explained! Not why the car appeared to the ML and FL, but also this seemingly "obvious" loophole.
3. What a sad, sad treatment of a potentially interesting character- Go Mi Sook. They wanted her to be a sociopath so bad, building her up to be this larger than life, evil figure that can spot your insecurities from a mile away and manipulate you like a marionette. The worst thing she did? She...plagiarised? Huh??? And everything just resolved itself so easily after that, too! That dumb necklace too, I thought they were going to give it an elaborate backstory considering how many times they focussed on her fiddling with it, but its just...there?? Was the writer's room out of ideas or something?

The writer is a genius . . . a time travel at its best
We are flooded with a variety of dramas to watch but can encounter only a few that we appreciate to the bones and give a perfect rating. True enough, “My Perfect Stranger” landed in this category. It has an authentic story of a familiar time travel concept. I revered the mind of the writer. The conflict was evenly mapped out in each episode creating the right intrigue for the viewer’s curiosity to grow. With other dramas the concluding episode is predictable, you can’t expect that here because the suspense remains killing you.The main focus of the story was still on the family. The bitter falling-out relationship between the family of the two main leads was understood and fixed when Kim Dong Wook and Jin Ki Joo traveled back to the year 1987, meeting the younger versions of their parents and immediate family while looking out for the serial killer but discovered unimaginable truth behind all the tragic incidents.
Oh, I happened to recall “Reply 1988” here because of that same neighborhood and house location they used. Watch out for a beautiful surprise in the role of Jung Jin Young who made a special appearance in the final episode.

A pleasant surprise
This Drama ended getting 8/10 from me for surprising me in positive ways more than once.First, it COMPLETELY threw me as to who the killer was, I did not see that coming at all - excellent!
Second, the tone ended up being rather unexpected, another pleasant surprise
Third, it's handlnig of the characters showed intelligence. There was nuuance and context for the characters' behaviour, and the final end of some characters' arcs was balanced and realistic. Not implausibly rosy or even implausibly complete. A great example was the resolution of the ML's own mother issues, the end to that arc was note perfect.

an enquiry full of surprises
pros: I just watched this drama by chance and didn't put too much thoughts in it. I really liked the story from the very beginning, this drama is easy to dive in. I loved that so many things were feeling odd and that in the end you get to understand why that is. and everything makes sens. I loved that the story evolves while you are watching it, and things that happened in 1987 aren't the same anymore.I feel like I could eventually rewatch the show because the story is very tricky, I certainly missed some things. and also, knowing the truth, it can be very interesting to watch the scenes with new eyes.
cons: I didn't feel hooked and managed to watch a couple of episodes a day. it didn't matter as I liked the story anyway. I wasn't convinced by the love story. the two characters had no chemistry for me. they could have been very good friends for example and the story would have felt better. I had a clue about the perpetrator, but it was surprised anyway.
as fun as it was, I didn't score more than 7 because I know I will forget it easily. for me it's a good show, but not a priority.
when to watch: even if it isn't the main event, there is a lot of violence (harsh feelings, harsh words, and physical violence), I wouldn't recommend for under 18.
watch with friends on week-ends, it's also a good show to help relax yourself after work.
it's a solid 7, so have fun!

Don't Judge a Drama by its Poster....
Classic example of 'Dont judge a drama by its poster!!'If you think this is a cliche rom com, you would be missing one of the best suspence murder sci-fi mysteries of 2023!!!!
I don't know why this became unappreciated. Anyways, this was worth watch and i highly recommended no matter how picky you are on genres.
The plot was very gripping and didint disappoint with the ending. The leads were 100% succesful in bringing out their charecters to life (Jin ki joo is a cutieee❤️) The ost.. especially thriller scenes were lit.story line with its unique twists? The village scenery were really soothing and went well with the mysterious plotline.
All i can say is ,its a package of romance, action, investigation (star of the show),thriller, comic and feelgood surprise box!

Tempus fugit, amor manet
I think the storyline is really good, the writer really puts us into detective mode for the whole episode. And I guess some viewers can't really figure out who the real killer is. In fact, at the beginning of the episode everything is very confusing, because a lot of things look suspicious, but if you pay close attention you will know every detail that leads to the killer who turns out to be a little bit obvious in the middle of the episode.I recommend paying attention to every little detail in the middle and towards the end of the drama, and if you're lucky you'll know who it is.
Some of the events involving the family in this story made me sad and feel the same way as the characters. The romantic part is not so intimate but I like a light romantic story that focuses on their main goal which is to find and catch the killer.
There will be a surprise at the end of the episode that you never expected. Be sure to watch it all the way through!

its surely a COMFORT drama for me
Other than the plot twists that blew up my mind and me left in SHOCK and confusion every single episode, it surely was a heartwarming and sweet drama at the same time, it kept me hooked for 2 months and im here still can't move on, i was really invested while it was being aired and i really enjoyed it, hoped for some recognition tho. In fact people who gave it a chance to watch they indeed got attached and loved it so much, so its more about popularity and recognition and it surely is worth trying.Loved the characters so much and i really liked the main couples relationship, a mature comfortable one, it had me smiling and giggling alot and despite the whole plot is about knowing who the culprit is, for me i can still rewatch it anytime and still enjoy it, and that's not common at all for alot of other dramas.

Yes, it's yet another show about addressing generational trauma through time travel. And I eat it up every time. My Perfect Stranger was a little bit different because it was also trying to tie in a serial killer murder mystery. I found myself bingewatching My Perfect Stranger because I had to know what happened. The plot moved really fast and all the twists kept me intriguing. Even though I had a good time with the murder mystery aspect, I felt like there were a lot of plot holes that were not addressed and the ending didn't feel particularly satisfying. I gave it up a bit of a pass because the lead up was very fun.
The character dynamics I think worked much better than the murder mystery plot. Seeing Yoon-yeong's relationships with the young versions of her parents was a highlight. I loved seeing the friendship that she built with the young version of her mother and the way she was driven to protect her at all costs after what had happened in the future. Her antagonistic relationship with her young dad was super entertaining to watch and vacillated between being hilarious and heartbreaking. While it's not a new idea, having a character realize they'd gotten their parents wrong their whole lives is always something that gets me.
I really liked the relationship that developed between the two time travelers. I thought it developed nicely from strangers to partners in crime to friends to lovers. I do wish that we had gotten to see more of the romance, as I thought the actors had really great chemistry.
Even though I was definitely with some questions that weren't answered, My Perfect Stranger was a great watch. It balanced humor, heartbreak. romance, and intrigue very well.

Cast: Diperankan oleh mas-mas jawa kita, Kim Dongwook as Yoon Haejun, dan kaka baby face kita, Jin Kijoo as Baek Yoonyoung.
Ending: Sesuai judulnya, endingnya beneran dibuat 'perfect'.
Kalo kata yg nntn, Haejun ini love languange-nya act of service, sedangkan Yoonyoung adalah word of affirmation.

Time travel done right
I haven't seen a good time travel drama in a while – the last drama I could think of is Nine? And that's 10 years ago! (Oh and there's also Splash Splash Love but that's more a special than a full-length.) The best thing about this show is that the whole ensemble kept the story going, and not just the leads. Were there time travel rules that didn't make sense? Sure, but it knew its rules well and stayed consistent about them until the end. Were there story arcs that didn't tie up neatly? Sure, but the most important storylines were taken care of. And I swear I saw that reveal coming but I was still very shocked when the drama got to that part.Jin Ki-joo and Kim Dong-wook really are some of the most underrated K-actors out there and I'm happy they worked together on this one. I'd love to see them in a more romance-centric drama, though, but all the quiet moments they had together here will do, too. I mean: "I think fondly of you."???? And "I won't disappear."???? Some of the best indirect confessions in K-drama bar none.

It is okay. Worth the time spent but at the same time nothing to write home about.
I liked the characters, especially Lee Soon Ae and Baek Hee Seop from 1987. They were the ones that kept things interesting. I found the Yoon Hae Joon to be lacking the usual charisma that Kim Dong Wook brings to his characters. All I could say is that he was warm in here. Jin Ki Joo's Baek Yoon Young was just the same. There was a lack of intimacy between the two for us to categorize this as romance. They were nice to each other and I'm glad that they ended up together but it wasn't all that fun to watch.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
