A good watch.

Good comedy and mystery/ crime drama. Love the friendship. Love the academy theme.

Really enjoyed Professor Yu and Hacker Yoo’s tandem! Hope they get to work together as Policemen.

Love the love story of Sunho and Kanghee. Kanghee is mature enough to understand and be able to work things out with Sunho.

I also love Professor Gyu, my fave character. I'm actually shipping him with Professor Choi. Hehe.

Honestly, I only watched it because I wanna watch something different as I feel like dramas I'm watching are almost same with the same plot just different characters with a bit of twists. This one is good drama when you’re tired of typical romcom kdrama. And you’re up for some not so complicated mystery.

Overall, the drama was fun. 7.5/10.

It is a light drama which I did enjoy

Expectations always play a major part in how you perceive and appreciate something. I'm not sure why there is so much hate toward this drama or what they expected. I'm not saying that all people should like this one but I've seen on several reviews calling it trash and completely bashing it while many other series are given so much grace and excuses such as "it's because it's a drama" and don't get me started on hyped dramas who promote abuse as love. It has also been said that this drama is full of clichés, and I don't really agree with it being over the top but even so, you can't avoid having some of them or at least it's extremely rare to be able to in kdrama.

To be clear. This drama is for those who want to watch something light and easygoing and not overly complicated. The focus is not dark crime or heavy romance nor is it over-the-top dramatic comedy. It's not perfect but I still found it sweet and enjoyable.

What I liked about this drama is the relationships.
Especially between Yoo Dong Man & Kang Sun Ho but also between Sun Ho and his friends and the dynamic between the colleagues of the professors. The romance is not in the center but I actually like that part. Not every drama needs to be all about the romance. I could relate to Sun Ho not feeling like he had a direction or a dream but also enjoyed seeing him finding and growing those during his time at the university. I liked the part where we saw their training even though I would've liked to see more of that. I liked that the investigation actually moved forward, finding clues and making arrests compared to having a cat-and-mouse game where the suspect always slips right out of their fingers until the last episode. There were some twists and turns but not excessive and they wrapped everything up at the end.

Things I think could've improved the drama.
Exploring Sun ho relationship with his adopted family more. I was really disappointed we didn't get to see more of his brother and their dynamic. I would actually liked to have seen a little more fleshed-out backstories for all of the main leads. That would've given the drama a little more depth.
I think Sun Hos hacking skills could've been used in a more interesting and useful way, it felt like they used it just as a plot starter and then as an afterthought. Also, Kang hees Judo skills, even Sun Hos brother's, were disappointedly really unused.
I wanted to see more of the police university training and them learning useful stuff and improving, also more of the university life in general.

Overall
Take it for what it is, which is an easy-to-follow drama that explores the meaning of the word justice in a sweet and somewhat simplistic light way. It certainly does not deserve to be hated on.
Is it groundbreaking? No. Is it a bit average? Yes. Did I still enjoy it? Yes.
If this is not your cup of tea then just move on to something else.

Story
I like the genre of this drama and you will love it if you are here to be happy and enjoy passing time because of boredom. I know the story is lacking many things and I feel like the main characters purpose is very sketchy. They don't have much character development. The side characters also became profs, it's better if they have more screentime. I hope they add more action and more realistic feels to it. To be honest, Sungho's hacking skills will be much cooler if they used it more.

Acting
To be honest, I only watch this because of it's genre and the main lead is Jinyoung. I'm not gonna say anything to the veterans but other actors might lacking in facial expressions and can't perfectly deliver the emotions/feelings but they can improved. At least the main leads portrayed their character well.

Overall
It's actually good and fun to watch. I might recommend it to my friends and to all those Kdrama addicts. I might rewatch it again if I have free time.

comfort show/must watch

that show is really a comfort show, it will make you laugh. I watched that show when it wasn't even completed so I had to wait a week before getting a new episode and the suspense was killing me. The music was good and played at the right moment. I Loved the chemistry between the actors, it contributed to the comfort side of the show. The story was good but it could have been better, when the plot was coming in the end they made it a little too long and it was easy to guess. But overall I loved this drama and I would recommend it for sure! it's a good show to re-watch if you want to have a good time!

How To Be A Respected and Good Police Officers.

‘Police University’
To me, this drama was a good and high quality drama. Even though the storyline a bit cliché but I think it’s was good and interesting enough for the audiences to watch this without dropping.

Production make the story not only focused on the journey for a person to be a police officer but also how the police solve the case using their minds and skills. It’s shows that the police officer needs to be an intelligent person and also have the strength in order to be a good and respected police officers.

I will skipped the synopsis for this drama since in drama-list already stated it….

▪️Opinions
~ I thought the drama will be hard for the audiences to understand and predicted what happened. Luckily this drama was not so hard to digest and understand it. Even though the genre stated was mystery but to me it was not too mystery since I’m able to predict who was behind all the illegal gambling sites.
~ I loved all the people in the university such as all professors including Prof. Seo even he was a bad man who behind the illegal gambling, senior police officers and also batch 41 officers.
~ I also loved to see the friendship between Kang Sun Ho and his friends, Beom Tae and Joon Wook who always stay together with him through ups and down. It will not make them change their heart even they knew it will be hard for them since they’re still a student.
~ At first, I’m a dislike Min Kyu since he was arrogant and always has a serious face. But towards the end he was changed to be a nice guy and he also knew how to smile. It’s really handsome when he smiles.
~ The most important character was Prof Dong Man who always loved to argue with Kang Sun but at the same time he gave a lot of advice to him so that he knew how to be a good police officer. He was a good detective who not gave up in solving the case even he doesn’t have any clues and evidence.
~ Even Kang Sun character was a weak and not smart enough to be an officer. But he changed to be a good and brave person. He decides to drop the university in order to get the punishment for what he used to do. He hacked the illegal site and take the money. Kang Sun also changed to a responsible person and he was strong enough to become a police officer. His hacker’s skill was really powerful.
~ Even though the process to solve the case was a bit long and confusing but it’s still good since they’re able to find out who was the actual person behind the illegal gambling site. I loved to see the teamwork between Prof Dong Man and Kang Sun. They were a good teammate but it’s pity since Kang Sun only just a student.

▪️Overall
The drama was ended in beautiful ways. The case was solved in early two last episode. The writer made a good job since the drama doesn’t ending in a bad way. Even though Kang Sun dropped the school but later he admitted to the school again in the new batch. It’s a bit pity since we cannot see he graduates as the same with all his friends.

The other casts also have the best ending so it was so glad to see it. Not only for ML and FL became the partner but they’re all also able to make their own partners. Thus the drama was really interesting and cute.

** I do know why people dropped and said this drama was not good since to me it’s so so good (;

Lost potential

If you came here to see if this drama is worth watching because you like one of the actors that appear in it, i'd say it is. It is not nearly as bad as the reviews (including mine) make it seem. It is your average drama, and i would not say anything made it overwhelmingly bad or unwatchable. It was good for what it was, and i bet with this binged (where you could skip the filler scenes), the drama would be a solid 7.8.

Now for my harsher opinion...Let me start by saying i am jinyoungs biggest fan, and have been his fan for 10 years, so i was so excited for him to finally be the lead in a drama on a public broadcast channel. This started soooo good, amazing, i could not even imagine it getting bad, but then... i was so bored that not even his 10/10 visuals were keeping me interested.

the plot:
The main problem with this drama is that the vibe of the first few episodes (which was fresh, youthful, and fun) did not match the vibe of the later episodes. I would say the drama got boring after episode 6 or 7. That's simply because the people who were watching from the beginning, were most likely in it for the romance, but that completely became watered down into nothing to the point where i could not care less where the romance even went. I would almost consider this a drama without a love line because it became that boring and irrelevant to the story. I cannot believe they barely did anything with the storyline of the female leads mother, one of the few interesting things this drama put in place at the beginning. Past the initial episodes, this drama is completely different, all the charms were lost into a boring gambling storyline.

Listen, i get that police drama's about crime are also of interest to people, but there are tons of police dramas, while there are none about a police university. This drama is lost potential because the focus should have been on the students, the hardships they went through, love, studying, or whatever drama that happens when you are preparing to be a police officer??? (guess we will never know?) I cannot believe this drama threw all that away for some basic gambling storyline, like at least make it a murder one like law school that actually keeps you interested.

Overall, People were interested in this drama because we thought we would get the police university version of a heart-fluttering campus drama, but no. we got a police drama, that has a lot of scenes that take place at a university.

the acting:
People hated on the acting more than they should have. The acting was great, and the times where it was bad was not because of the actors, but because of the over-dramatic script. They had jinyoung act shocked about things that weren't even shocking. Before you right off his acting as bad because of this lack luster drama i'd recommend you watch literally anything else he has been in, his acting in his last movie gave me goosebumps. The same goes for the other cast members. Cha taehyun is a well-known actor, but even his acting seemed so awkward at times because some scenes were just so overdramatic when it did not need to be.

Overall: For a Monday Tuesday drama competing against huge names, this didn't do that bad ratings-wise, so i hope that the actors in this drama find themselves better roles in better dramas. I especially hope Jinyoung can lead again in a drama that is unique and interesting because this drama definitely was not any of that. I do recommend you watch the first 6 episodes though, because it is so worth it. Then just drop it once you get bored.

Yikes

In the first episode of “Police University”, much of the screentime is shared by Choi Woo Sung and Oh Man Seok who are essentially the de facto family of the main character Kang Sun Ho played by Jung Jin Young. Choi Woo Sung’s part generates a few chuckles and Oh Man Seok gives the episode a certain amount of gravity as he guides Sun Ho through a difficult ordeal and towards the titular school. Compared to the average drama, they’re not particularly noteworthy parts or characters but specific to the qualities of this production, they serve as the apex of entertainment value.

The remaining characters, storylines and acting performances have painfully few bright spots. Krystal is an accomplished actor but the character of Oh Kang Hee has not much to do except to serve as the love interest of Sun Ho. Seo Ye Hwa is one of the finest character actors in the industry and puts a noble effort in playing an administrator of the school but there’s just so little to work with.

As for the rest, it’s generally difficult to identify whether the flaws are because of the actor portraying the character, the dullness of the storyline, the ineptitude of the direction and editing or the banality of the dialogue. Most scenes are a train derailment of repetitive dialogue, exaggerated facial expressions and oddly timed cuts between shots. The most obvious examples are Lee Dal and Yoo Young Jae who play Sun Ho’s pals Beom Tae and Joon Wook. They are written as comic sidekicks, but the attempts at comedy are juvenile and painfully unfunny. While Lee Dal and Yoo Young Jae might garner laughs with better material is doubtful, there is at least faint hope that they have some modicum of talent that could be revealed in future works.

Despite the towering whirlwind of blame to be shared throughout the cast and crew, one particular individual stands out as so blatantly incompetent that even with better talent alongside him and behind the camera, he would have still have no chance at performing at a professional level. In episodes 2-3, the only possible compelling drama was the boot camp ordeal lifted straight out of “An Officer and a Gentleman” - Instructor bent on drumming out a cadet is met with the youngster’s desperate perseverance to stay. It’s a duel of wills between two men passionately bent on proving the other wrong. It’s hamstrung by the nonstop recital of cop cliche’ dialogue from Cha Tae Hyun’s Dong Man who wants Sun Ho to out of the university. But the dialogue is a mere distraction to the flat delivery, clownish expression and awkward movement from Jung Jin Young.
Instead of admiration for indomitable spirit, we are left with a string of painful cringes and a desperate hope that it will be over soon. There are other actors that are equally unskilled tasked with lead roles, but there are some small redeeming qualities that those individuals usually have:

Pretty
Pretty and tall
Pretty tall?
Jung Jin Young has none of these traits. If there is any moment where Jung Jin Young appears to have some idea of what he should be doing it is when he is running. However, it seems to be effective only when he is running away from the camera and we are fading to the next scene break.

Some of the OST is not terrible, but that is scant solace.

Not recommended. Not even a little.

A long-drawn whodunit with lousy cast

I watched this as the reviews and rating were both good. I saw a few short clips and thought that this drama could be worth the while. I was wrong.

Pls don’t watch! Don’t watch because:
- The young male lead is so annoying. He is, IMO, a poor actor. He isn’t handsome so it’s even more annoying to watch him on my big screen. It’s like he sullies my screen! He is not handsome at all and the part where he went ‘Oh Kang Hee’ or something like that with a very close up shot of his thin, unsexy lips left me traumatized and it was terrible when there was a recap on it. Oh my! Double trauma.
- The female lead, IMO and I’m entitled to my opinion just like you are entitled to yours, is not good-looking too. She’s a bit weird looking. She looks like the toad in ‘Frog and Toad’. She’s not sexy and she’s not the best actress out there. Quite painful to watch.
- The plot is a whodunnit plot which is so long-drawn that I couldn’t take it and dropped this show. I’ll just get the information later on. This drama is too insufferable. I cannot continue watching it to find out. No way.
- The plot, thus far, is draggy and longgggg.

My heartfelt advice is: Don’t waste time! Watch something else! Don’t even embark on this!

I honestly was intrigued by the synopsis and the casting of this drama that is why I decided to watch it.

When I started watching it, it was really exciting for me. I kept on wanting to see what the next episode will offer. I loved seeing the chemistry of the casts on screen and the plot was gradually getting thicker and thicker. They kept on revealing secrets, suspects keeps on pleading guilty. It made me feel excited. However, somewhere in the second half of the drama it slowly started feeling like they were just dragging the plot until the end. It seems like the same thing keeps on happening, same people keeps on getting suspected. It felt like the story line became stagnant somewhere in the middle. I honestly think it wouldve done better if this drama was just 12 eps long. I feel like 16 eps was just too much.

Aside from that, it was good. Now... unto the next one.

Good enough light-hearted with subtle romance

Good but not great with some cliche plots~ usually romance ruins such drama of this genre or type. but this drama doesn't dive too deep into romantic relationship yet it was enough to sustain me (a hopeless romantic drama addict xD) it was reasonable amount of romance, on the point, no messy relationship nor plotlines that got to be implicated by "romance".

Now, going to the story of this, i like how they did not make the ML to be a perfect ML, he is not the smartest(excluding his talent for hacking) or the most athletic neither the most "golden proportion" ML
(dont get me wrong, JY is still super handsome!! Just that he looks really young still and baby faced xD)

It was getting interesting towards the end....but the story was really 'light'~ I was expecting some great conspiracy or such but it ended on quite a relaxing note. Not a bad thing, but a little bit anti-climax.

However, I actually like how they wrapped up the whole sunho's story (to atone for his wrong-doings but does not deny him the chances to do what he wants after that) making him come back to the school as a better person whether it was for his future police career or as a person in general or his relationship with Kanghee. It was a good 'time-out' .

The drama is relatively light-hearted and no doubt cliche but dont give it too much expectation.

The only thing i was frustrated about is how professor Yu despite being a long-time police still acts emotionally, I would actually expect him to act more calmly as a adult and experienced police officer. but it does gets better towards the end as he realised how his students are risking themselves to solve the crimes.

Side note,
I do love the friendships and relationship they forge in here. =))

A lighthearted, no pressure drama.

Police and detective dramas are things that are often explored in dramas, and either have a main concept which is quite dark and gritty, or they go the other way and are lighthearted dramas, good for casual viewing. This drama is more so of the latter, with a rougher, grittier storyline dotted throughout.

Personally, I enjoyed this drama as a light watch, with less pressure to focus on the technicalities. From the offset, the main male lead of the drama decides to follow a Police route, due to the fact the girl he has a crush on aims to go for that career. This helps to make the drama slightly less serious, and potentially make it more likeable and relatable as not everyone at that age is going to know which career path to go through.

Throughout the drama, relationships between all the characters are developed in an easy to watch way, adding some depth into the characters and making it easier to understand and relate to the characters.

Although the primary focus of the drama seems to be on the relationships built in the Police University, a secondary storyline which has slightly more grit and a darker stance helps to give the drama a bit more depth, and is the primary reason this is a drama worth finishing to the end. However, it is also one of the reasons this drama lacks. The darker element of the drama seems to be teased throughout the drama, but doesn't necessarily take centre stage. This leaves you with a feeling of wanting a little more, but it never really meets those expectations and seems to calm down whenever the storyline seems to pick up.

This drama is good for casual viewing, and essentially has some lost potential from the sub storyline they neglected slightly.
