Three Stars

interesting start, both mains r pretty strong character's - and this is a newer plot then the ones we usually get in BL's. refreshing? interesting? intriguing - yeah to all of the above.. Ju (Judah ) is a tough character to like - he is abrasive and his condescending, arrogant attitude doesn't endear him. and yet too me his "bitchy" personality is an armor - it's walls built to keep people out - to push them away, before they get too close and might end up hurting him. it's his defense against the word - he wants to come off over confident (and maybe he is), but there is also a ton of insecurity. so a strong and yet intriguing character that is all bravado at the start - with the barbered quips and biased observations. so can't wait for him to lower his guard, and let u see the "heart" that beat's underneath (indicator, his developing a conscience and writing Rocky's name on the pass at the end). **********************************************************************************************************************btw Ju sure he gay?!? buff dude working out inches from his nose, and he reading? (╹ڡ╹ ) *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************Rocky - man of mystery and few words. comes in like a thief in the night and steals our - well everyone's included jaded Ju's focus lol... they were butting heads from the word go, and it was interesting seeing the potential there. also liked that Rocky wasn't turned-off by Ju's abrasive attitude, but gave as good as he got, without becoming defensive or turning out to be the stereotypical machoman. he was pretty laid back and cool, even after finding out Ju lied about the "pass". ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************side note - saw a reaction from a gay person, that didn't like Ju cause "his character's is a bad-stereotype of what gay person is..." in their eye's. if there was any stereotyping - i think Beshie kinda takes the cake and yet - as there r people like Beshie around - let alone he wasn't a caricature (or used as a bad-joke) but just a character, that was out, proud and loving it effeminately - i didn't find anything in him, Ju or anyone for that matter - that was used derogatorily to the community in general IMHO

LMAOOO

"I'm too twinky to get in a fight" hahahha this had me dead. This is surprisingly cute so far. I didn't expect the dialogue to feel so natural.

Undecided So Far

This series caught my attention due to Royce Cabrera, who was one of the leads along with Gameboys’ Kokoy in Fuccbois, a Filipino BL film. Though the story does deal with the covid crisis, it’s nice to see actual human interaction rather than video calling. Story-wise, it’s alright though I bit forced, such as Rocky randomly offering to massage Judah. Not sure how massage was going to help keep Judah awake and not sure why Rocky just ended up caressing Judah’s hair and only barely massaging his temples. Nothing particularly exciting but nothing boring either. Still have to wait to give my verdict as it’s too early. Royce is hot though and it was nice seeing his several shirtless scenes in the first episode. ;) On a side note, I do like how Judah is confidently gay and knows what he likes though I do find him a bit irritating though (probably due to internalized homophobia but let’s not get into that lol). Interested in seeing where the story goes from here.

Quaranthings: The Series (2020) Episode 1: Quarantine Pass

I was pleasantly surprised with the pilot episode of Quaranthings: The Series! Although clearly set during the pandemic like other Filipino (Pinoy) boys' love (BL) series, the plot/storyline wasn't straightforward at all which made it quite interesting. After watching Episode 1: Quarantine Pass, you'd certainly want to stick around to understand Judah's issues, uncover Rocky's secrets, and find out how their relationship develops during the quarantine. Screenplay was cute with a lot of funny lines. Acting was generally natural especially the performance of Royce, who's a magnificent specimen of a man, lol. He's so sexy! Kyo, a newbie, was alright. He was on point in a lot of scenes but there were also scenes wherein he was flat. He needs improvement but he was ok. I like that Judah's unapologetically queer. Karl was also a natural in his role as Beshie and I love his rendition of the OST "Sansinukuban" (My Universe). Production design and cinematography were just average. But I love that there's an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez photo, Martin Luther King Jr. quote, and Thai BL series posters. Cutting of scenes and transitions from one scene to another need refinement. All and all, Quaranthings: The Series is a very promising Pinoy BL series. I'm undoubtedly looking forward to next week's episode!
