This would have gotten a 9.5 rating from me if the real world arc in this drama was done better. But the murderous siblings power struggle was boring and poorly written without adding to the overall story. Most of my review will omit that portion of the series because I honestly skipped over almost all of it.

The novel arc and romance portion after returning to the real world has topped my list of favorites. The production quality, cinematography, OST, and acting were all fantastic. There was great chemistry between all the characters, fun lines and interactions with little references to other works. There are a couple one dimensional characters in the novel world but it made sense for the story and was delivered well from the actors. The romance was told well and progressed in a way that felt natural and fun.

I do recommend watching this show but be prepared to skip over large sections of the real world sibling power struggle story line because it was overly dramatic and only detracted from the series. There was also a poorly constructed villian in the novel arc that was used as a plot point to force the main characters to confess.

Also be prepared for the obvious and repetitive product placement in this show.

I have tried a few Taiwanese dramas before, but I dropped them all. I found them to be very lakorn like, so I could not force myself to get past episode 1-2. Had I been watching this drama alone by myself I don't think I could have gotten past the first episode either.(I had a companion mesmerized by beauty, who wanted to give episode 2 a go) I could only describe the first episode as absolute trash. Fortunately from the moment we've entered the "overbearing ceo world" things immediately turned for the better. From episode 2 up to episode 14 most of the time is spent in that silly fantasy world and due to the book world's rules all the silliness that happens there kind of makes sense & I found things that would normally bother me in a regular drama very entertaining here. The drama is comedy gold really, the satirization of all the tropes has never been this much fun . Once we return to the real world things started to get a bit draggy for a while, but still it's been much much better than the real world snippets (all fast forwardable) we've had until that point. Although the result ended up being pretty similar to watching an amnesia plot in a normal drama. The show, or at least the romance is nicely wrapped up.

As I've said before the real world parts were pretty bad up until the ehm confluence of worlds. I could only describe it as Chaebol makjang at its worst. The family members & the uncle's motivations and actions made 0 sense and the whole thing got resolved in a boring unsuspenseful way. To sum it up all the time spent on these things had been wasted. This is the main reason why I'm only rating it at 8/10. Objectively I'm still being extremely generous here..

The love rectangle has been managed okay. Typically I'm an avid triangle hater, but the setting made these bearable.

I loved the OST. Though there were perhaps too many scenes without musical accompaniment.

I think the casting is pretty good, I liked almost all the acting performances, though I'm not entirely certain about the ML, I found his facial expressions a bit lacking.

I hugely prefer this one to W. W's plot is a jumbled mess, here we might still have an abundance of plot holes, but somehow the writer still managed to finish up the drama coherently. The end result is good enough & I'm not all that interested in the how, the inner workings of the magic is not over explained too much and that is how it should be. (over explaining magic after the original trilogy is what ruined Star Wars for me)

Lost Romance is a very romantic drama. It left me feeling happy and smiling. The first couple of episodes I wasn't very interested in, but once you get into the book-world, things take off from there. I really liked how the story was unique in the sense that the FMC, Zheng Xiao'en, of the T-drama was the intended nemesis of the book-world to the book-heroine. This was such an interesting and unique twist! The shift in character dynamics is predictable as you can easily guess what happens once Zheng Xiao'en and Situ Aoran fall in love, but it isn't drawn out, so it's okay. The glimpses into the "real-world" throughout the story are pretty meh in comparison to the book-world, but they truly are important so us viewers can understand what's going on once the MCs are back in the real-world. A necessary "meh" to the plot XD.

Once back in the real-world, things move at a good pace. I adored how Xiao'en stayed loyal and true to Situ Aoran. That was really important to me. He Tianxing and Situ Aoran are NOT the same person - the fact that this is recognized and further acknowledged (as heartbreaking as it was) by Xiao'en is a very powerful testament of her love. The way Xiao'en's romance was resolved was predictable, but satisfactory. And the cinematography was on point! The usage of flashback scenes to build the reunion between Situ Aoran and Zheng Xiao'en gave me goosebumps. It was also an excellent recap of the entire drama, with this being the conclusion of the drama. Excellent work in editing those scenes and overlaying them with the best soundtrack to elicit emotion!

The conclusion for all of the side characters was also satisfactory. The bad guys weren't so black and white as they appeared in the beginning....you understand what fueled their poor choices and even feel pretty bad for them. Their stories are neatly concluded with them facing the consequences to their decisions and actions. Their growth as individuals is well demonstrated - I have no doubt that after they face the consequences, they will be further changed individuals, for the positive.

The acting of the selected cast was good! Not the best acting I've seen, but convincing and not amateurish at all.
I probably won't rewatch this whole drama, but I'll likely rewatch scenes because they were either steamy or adorable. :D

Overall, if you're new to dramas, this will likely be an easy one to get into as it a relatively light, romantic story with great pacing!

The ratings don't match the drama...

This was a pretty disappointing watch. I was very excited to finally sit down and watch this drama, but it definitely did not live up to the hype I was expecting it to.

TDramas have a certain style to them, but the story is what truly makes or breaks it - and what makes it feel draggy or unnecessarily dramatic. This plot felt interesting at first, but it could've been done in 18 episodes based on how the writers wanted it to go. I didn't like how short the time was for the characters to actually be together in the "real" world, nor did I like how much time was spent on the melodrama portion of the story. I liked the back and forth between the two worlds, but there were so many things that could've been added / removed to make it much more interesting.

The only plus side was the chemistry and scenes between our characters, but other than that I didn't appreciate what the writers did with a seemingly decent plot.

Watch if you're willing to skip around! :p

Original, captivating, interesting… loved it!

This is the first taiwanese serie I watched… and I am satisfied and glad I did…

Story itself is different… FL Xian is an editor of romance novels that ends up trapped in her own novel, with an overbearing CEO, Situ Aoran/He Tianxiang

I expected the plot to be the develop romance between these 2, but no…. It was a bit of a parody on all the plots and cliches that the production uses to insert romance that the female audience expects…. With a lot of humor and funny moments.
Its all about the estereotypes… like when the main female lead that is always falling so the male lead can catch her in his arms, or when the main femaile lead needs help, the male lead is always 2 seconds away to help, no matter when or where… those moments that are totally unbelievable but we got so used to… we expect them in all romantic genres novels.

Actors did a great job… in all their own stereotypes… they were cute and lovable.
I have to say that the SML was amazing,,,, until the end.. I would have loved for him to get the girl.
If there is a 2nd season about his story… I would be the first to watch… I am officially a fan now!
The chemistry between the ML, FL and the SML was great….

Music was nice also.

One min point was the costumes…. The styling was awful… clothes were super baggy or over the top.. (like the CEO went to work in a tuxedo…. Come on!)

For the rest:
Do I recommend it? YES,! Especially if yiu need a serie to lift you up after a historical drama with horrible open ending (like I had with moon lovers)
Would I watch it again? YES!

Look out for the 2nd ML syndrome! A really well written fantasy rom-com!

Really great rom-com when you are tired of typical overbearing boss with brainless naive FL romance genre~ Be it from the reality aspect to the novel world, I think all was done really well especially the multiple sides of the characters! Super funny because FL kept doing many dumb stuff and ML's reaction when she does it!

Overall, this drama had one of the best chemistries in this saturated "idol" drama market! FL isn't some idiotic woman, she has her moral values in terms of recognizing the ML in reality or in novel as separate individuals even though she had hoped for them to be the same person initially. Both the MLs also had quite an interesting story to their parts. I particularly love how the FL tried everything she didn't dare to do in reality in the novel world~ A lot of troupes but she has her way of tackling it!

What I felt kind of emotional about was the fact that Qing Feng (2nd ML) had to become a "floating" character from stories to stories because his original novel did not have a ending... Honestly he's quite the charming guy where he actually regained conscious from his story setup at some point and acted much more freely in the novel!

Really recommended for everyone to watch which I kinda regret not watching it during its release! Now I'm still feeling the aftertaste of this drama, some sweetness and some bitterness because 2nd ML could only stay as a fictional character~ I almost thought he would appear at the very end to show that actually he is real person in reality too...

Stop...Start...Stop...Start

Lost Romance is one of those dramas that is stop-start. It started slow, then became interesting. Then it became slow, and then it became interesting again. I really liked the concept of the overall story with the two worlds thing, and the ways in which it made itself original. I also liked the cast and characters a whole great deal, too. I think the whole 'romance' and 'business' parts of the story worked well but it sometimes felt like I was watching a different drama for each storyline, they didn't really complement well with one another.

OST was very good, as was the SFX and editing. Some things I thought weren't great (although not bad either) were episode lengths and number of episodes - I think instead of 20 x 70 min episodes, the story could have done better with 12 x 60 min episodes. Some acting performances weren't the best, however, the majority of the cast were very believable in their roles.

Overall, I do recommend this as long as you don't mind dramas that are slower paced.

True love overcomes all obstacles

I have watched a ton of drama all about different things. Out of all of them this has to be my favorite. It is so cute, sad, and funny. It’s similar to Extraordinary you. A girl in a book trying to decide her own fate. Although in this she is the evil person who has to make herself better in the guys view. In the beginning they both start off in a coma they fall in love in the book and return to the real world. They have obstacles not only in the book but also in the real world. No matter what the obstacles are can they find their way to each other or have they forgotten everything that happened? Sorry I wanna make it so you can wanna watch so I won’t spoil the ending also just because I love it doesn’t mean it can’t have a sad ending. Although find out by watching it I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as me.

A cute romantic comedy with unique storyline.

(The Romance of Tiger and Rose)-এর হুবাহু কপি, দাঁড়ান!!!
The Romance of Tiger and Rose এর সাথে, খানিকটা মিল পাওয়া যাবে ২০১৯ এর হিট কোরিয়ান স্কুল ড্রামা Extraordinary You এর সাথে আবার খানিকটা মিল পাওয়া যাবে ২০১৬ সালের হিট কোরিয়ান ড্রামা W - Two Worlds এর সাথেও।

First off, I'll say that you'll need to sit through the first couple of episodes to give this drama a fair shot. The start was extremely slow; endure it and you'll find yourself plowing through the rest of the episodes with glee.

The story is not unlike a mix of Extraordinary You and W-Two Worlds, as our heroine Zheng Xiao En (Vivian Sung) finds herself waking up in a romance novel. She soon discovers the male lead in the novel, Situ Aoran (Marcus Chang), looks a lot like He Tian Xing, the CEO she admires in the real world, who is in a coma. Vivian Sung did a fantastic job portraying a strong, funny, self-aware heroine, determined to change her role in the storybook. She realizes she is only a side character, possibly a villain, in the story of the romance between Situ Aoran and Ling Chu Chu. I confess I’m a sucker for stories about alpha males paired with delicate female leads. But seeing this trope from Xiao En’s perspective, I also felt the ridiculousness of it all. I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes at Chu Chu’s damsel-in-distress behavior (and funnily, some of the characters were visibly rolling their eyes right there with me, haha). It was so much fun watching Xiao En try to sabotage the author’s many predictable set ups to get the “leads” to fall in love, change the direction of the story in the novel and catch the attention of the arrogant and childish Situ Aoran in the process. One of my favorite parts was Xiao En's time spent at Situ Aoran's place as his housekeeper and the two of them getting close while trying to battle and outwit one another. I wish this part of the drama lasted longer because it was so entertaining. Case in point: when she chances upon him showering, she tells herself to satisfy her curiosity and enjoy the view. Naturally, she gets caught and when an angry Situ Aoran confronts her, she says "who told you to look so handsome? If you were me, you'd have looked, too." She makes her argument with such conviction that it renders him speechless, and oddly enough, convinces him, LOL. Or that time she blurts out without thinking that she likes him and when he asks why, she says: "money..." Gotta love this girl.

I'm sure there will be viewers who will have a major second lead syndrome here. I didn’t suffer but I admit to being charmed by Duan Mu Qing Feng (Simon Lian). I enjoyed his presence and really appreciated seeing him be there for the heroine in times of need. He is such a gentleman and so understanding. However, Marcus and Vivian simply had incredible chemistry; there was no competition. They took the tag “steamy kiss” to a whole new level. Hands down, theirs is the best “finally, they did the deed” scene in all of dramaland, ha. They look so natural, so real, so good together that I felt as if I was intruding on their privacy for watching.

I didn't want the novel world to end because while the real world is playing out in parallel, I literally skipped every scene whenever that occurs (corporate shenanigans of He Tian Xing's family, yawn). So I thought I would hate it when they inevitably return to the real world. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed that world in the quarter half of the drama. Unlike the earlier episodes, the scenes between the leads are sweet, with a touch of melancholy. Xiao En is heartbroken to find He Tian Xing appears to be a different person from Situ Aoran. Meanwhile, I adored this version of the lead. Compared to Situ Aoran, He Tian Xing is such a gentleman, so mature. He is thoughtful, intrigued by the woman before him with sad eyes. I had no issues accepting the explanation they provided to meld the different personalities of Situ Aoran and He Tian Xing together at the end to confirm they are one and the same. And to be honest, I thought she ends up with the better half of him, so no complaints from me in that respect.

In conclusion, don't expect logical explanations for the whole "I traveled into a novel" premise. You'll enjoy it better if you just roll with it. Come for the meta references and the sizzling romance and you won't be disappointed.

It seems like a lot of people really love this drama. Having now finished it, I can see why. I can't say I really love this drama as there are flaws in the execution, but I did enjoy a lot of things about it as the story has some interesting story mechanics/concepts, and there are some genuinely good twists.

Xiao En is a fabulous female lead in the first half. She finds herself in the middle of a romance novel and takes full advantage of this to hilarious effect. Nothing's too embarrassing for her to try, she expertly handles the villains and their shady behavior, and she goes after absolutely everything she wants (principally the male leads heart), ultimately succeeding in turning herself into the female lead of the story. It's all incredibly charming and laugh out loud funny. But then she wakes back up in the real world, and the story takes a bit of a nosedive into mope-land for a time. On the one hand, I get it. Xiao En's spent 3 months (I think it was 3 months?) falling in love with a book character and making herself at home in the book universe. Then she wakes up and is brought back to reality that none of it was real, none of it actually happened (although I feel there should have been more awareness on her part about this), and she mourns everything she's lost. She just...mourns longer than I think she had a right to.

It's unclear how much of Situ Aoran's personality is the book character and how much is actually Tian Xing, because the drama doesn't tell us, but for my part, the male lead is bland as toast in the novel world. Seriously. Situ Aoran is incredibly uninteresting, lol. Tian Xing is an improvement, and there are glimpses of him having an actual personality, but we don't get to spend nearly as much time getting to know him as we do Situ Aoran, so it's hard to know just what he's like. (Maybe some of Xiao En's mourning period could have been spent on developing Tian Xing as a character and building a relationship between them instead.......)

Chu Chu, the female lead turned second female lead, has an unusual if also kind of stereotypical character trajectory, as she goes from being the male leads love interest to one of the villains of the story. I personally can't decide if this was a good writing choice or not. On the one hand, there are a lot of reasons this makes sense. Her role in the story is essentially snatched away from her, which would understandably be upsetting, especially if you're one of the leads in a romance novel. It's also a clever story twist to switch the roles of the female and second female leads in this way. But a number of viewers didn't like it, and part of me doesn't like it as well. The evil second female lead has been one of the most common tropes in Asian dramas for a long time, to the point that a lot of drama lovers are sick and tired of it. It's not uncommon today to see people complain about mean female characters in a drama even when they serve an important and appropriate purpose in a story. For me, it's hard to reconcile my feelings on this writing choice, so I've decided not to spend too much time thinking about it.

Qing Feng is, as they often are in these types of rom-coms, an absolutely lovely second male lead. He does everything right, is honorable and kind and a loyal friend, and he has a very hard time of it, lol. What sets him apart from so many other second male leads though is that while he starts the drama liking Chu Chu then switches his affections to Xiao En, his true love...actually isn't even in this novel at all. This is an incredibly unique twist that works well (even if I have a few quibbles around it). It can get hard watching so many lovely second male leads end up alone at the end of the drama, but that is luckily not a problem with this drama. Since the woman he really loves is from a different novel, you don't have to be sad for him that it didn't work out with Chu Chu or Xiao En, because Xiao En is such a good friend that once she gets back to the real world, she doesn't rest until he gets his happy ending. (This is one of those drama exceptions where a second male lead gets an ending that is truly deserving of his wonderfulness.)

The part of the drama that is the most flawed is all of the business and family drama. The real-world storyline around Tian Xing's family and his father's company could be a real slog, and I did a lot of skipping/fast forwarding through it during much of the first half of the drama. The business machinations and family drama were simultaneously boring and irritating. But then the sister's plotline became both interesting and quite heartbreaking, and I found myself slowly becoming invested in the family dysfunction. There's a lot of bitterness and distrust and hurtful behavior to go around, and it makes for a very sad family portrait. It may have been the actress portrayal (probably) that helped bring me around, but I felt a lot of sympathy for the sister. (Not enough to forgive any of her behavior but definitely enough to understand her better and hope she will change her ways and live her life differently.) I didn't have any hope for the rest of Tian Xing's family, sadly. Mom does have the tiniest bit of an epiphany about the role she's played towards the end, which is good, but I honestly was too apathetic about her to feel very invested in her change of heart.

The finale was surprisingly great. Lots of good storytelling choices. From the leads going straight to the courthouse to get married sans wedding ceremony to having a hitchhiking, camp-out honeymoon of all things! (I was seriously expecting that writing choice to not go well, but it was surprisingly romantic and appropriate for our leads.) And the sendoff for Qingfeng was perfection. It made me teary-eyed.

Despite the drama's faults, I understand why so many people love Lost Romance. It pulled off a lot of really good and unexpected twists. It's also just a lot of fun. But don't go into this expecting it to subvert every trope and avoid all the stereotypes of the typical rom-com Asian drama, because while it does subvert a lot of tropes and stereotypes, some are still alive and well in this drama.

I did not think that would enjoy this!

Wow this caught me by surprise! i really didn't think that i would finish this series. i just thought it was the same as legally romance, were the girl was the only one who experience the long dream in a coma, boy was i wrong! This is different, everything was thought out carefully. I love that the writer didn't leave me with any wandering questions.

Oh my gosh don't get me started on the main leads chemistry. The chemistry was of the chart. It was not forced romance everything was so natural. I really believed that they were dating in real life. Oh and the kisses was my favorite part of the show next to the sweet romantic scenes.

The actors really became one with the script. The only character i didn't like was chuchu she really irritated the crap out of me. She was so whinning acting like the world owed her big time.. did she save the world in her previous life!??? But i guess we need her to make the story line more interesting.

Oh man, the make second lead syndrome... I don't know way but it always makes me feel so uncomfortable because they are always so nice and there for the female lead but yet always cast aside. The funny part if that even if they make me feel uneasy, i always want to see them in dramas. i don't know if it makes sense but it's like that. I guess second lead syndromes are there to make the first male lead realize how much he loves the first female lead.

The only thing i didn't like was the make up time. i really wish that he would have remembered her sooner, so that we could see more sweet kisses and romantic scenes. except for that i have no complains.

Lost romance is the first tai drama i watched and enjoyed.

I think that this series is worth the 20+ hours of your life so buckle up and enjoy yhe ride!!
I don't think your would regret it.
