They both take place in the Entertainment Agencies, but Skip Beat is slightly more lighter tone than The King of Dramas. They both have Choi Si Won in it & I like him in both series in my opinion.
Both of these Korean dramas star Kim Myung Min. Having KMM withdrawals after King of Dramas? Try Beethoven Virus. He is an amazing actor. His character in Beethoven Virus also reminds me of his character in King of Dramas a tiny bit as well.
Both drama revolve around the story of behind the scenes...we're actor,PD,writers are in too...even tough King of Dramas focus on production and World that they live in focus on directing both of them are still alike because both of them are in drama business telling us what's happening in there world ^^
Shows how things are behind the scenes making and producing dramas and tv shows. They're also both made with interesting story lines not boring at all.
They both talk about the behind the scenes of a certain field of work ("The King of Dramas" is about K-Dramas, "Over the Rainbow" is about K-Pop). Main difference: the point of view. The lead characters of TKoD are a drama producer/CEO and an aspiring top writer, while OtR tell the lives of wannabe dancers/singers.
Both center around show production and have a idol cast member (Siwon). While Producers centers around variety. The King Of Dramas centers around the production of drama and the relationship between cast members, writers, producers and ratings.
It's set in the making drama production world this time focusing on directors and some writers. It's interesting to take a peek of how the lives of people who write and direct what we watch probably unfold and it's very well written too.
Totally different plots,
but
both ACTION DRAMAS with comedy & not too serious with an IMPRESSIVE MALE LEAD WHO HAS BOLD and difficult PLANS.
Both have main themes about REDEMPTION, FALL FROM GRACE and trying to correct a big failure and stand up again
Same EXHITING FEELING and vibes when watching both, never boring
Both have great cast & acting.

Both about the behind the scenes of korean celebrity life. TheKingOfDramas focuses more on the drama making aspect, less on romance (but has very satisfactory romance from mid-end of drama, drama is abit more than just the romance);
meanwhile TheGreatestLove is about the lovestory of two k celebs (movie actor & former k pop girlband member who guests on variety shows).
Both great!!

Thematically, the stories in MK and The King of Dramas were very similar. A boy who has wronged a girl in the past now needs her help to save himself and his dreams, while also trying to help her fulfill her own dreams. Trust issues abound, but they both pull you into their struggles and have you cheering at the TV for every win they get.
