Unlocking Mental Marvels
"It's Okay to Not Be Okay" captivated my senses like a mesmerizing spell. This K-drama ingeniously dances between dark psychological depths and heartwarming hilarity. Its magnetic pull lies in the enchanting chemistry between Moon Gang-tae (Kim Soo-hyun) and Go Moon-young (Seo Ye-ji), whose eccentricities stitch together a tapestry of emotions. The narrative is a bold plunge into mental health complexities, wrapping them in a cloak of whimsical storytelling. From laugh-out-loud therapy sessions to poignant moments of self-discovery, the show paints an evocative canvas of human fragility and resilience. The artful blend of fantasy and reality adds a surreal touch, mirroring the labyrinthine corridors of the mind.
While the journey is near-magical, a tad more brisk pacing could have kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Yet, this minor hitch barely dims the brilliance. With its kaleidoscope of emotions, "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" is a riveting exploration of inner battles, graced with performances that evoke hearty laughs and heartfelt tears. It's a heartful reminder that even amidst chaos, laughter can be the best medicine for the soul.

An addictive and well thought out story.
When I first started this show, it felt a bit slow, I struggled through certain episodes because it felt quite long through some of them. Thankfully I've gotten through most of it and I will say it was definetly worth my time. At first, I was convinced that Munyeong's mother was Park Ok Ran, for the longest time it seemed possible. However, the twist of it being Park Haeng Ja was also a quick thought that I had. When it had happened however it still surprised me because it never really settled in much. Nearing to the end of it and I will say it is an extremely addicting Kdrama to watch!Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Themes of family and found family support tricky depictions of neurodiversity and mental health
Man, with this plot and these characters, it could have gone so very wrong. But the writing, casting, and acting made it all feel organic and built up to a really satisfying conclusion. The themes of family and found family work together to help support the often tricky depictions of neurodiversity and mental health. Chemistry between the three leads was perfect. Bonus points for artwork.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Beautiful
It is a beautiful drama throughout. Both leads are so beautiful together and separately, the scenes are beautiful , the intro is as well... I think the word fits it all perfectly .Yeah, it can get a bit over-the-top almost cliched, however it still holds.
Great production, interesting screenwriting , very talented cast that suits well the drama, nice soundtrack. The acting is very alive and captivating. And absolute kudos to the costumes, the FL is a vision, so whoever was in charge of dressing her did an excellent job.
I am reviewing this upon rewatching it, and will probably rewatch again in a few years :)

I never thought my first official 10/10 would be a non-LGBT drama
I had only watched two K-Dramas (non -BL) and I was interested because I knew it wasn't a conventional show. This was so good. The story was impecable, the ACTING??? Flawless. I usually don't like it when a typical person portrays an autistic one, but just like in Attorney Woo the actors did a great job. I loved everything about it.Let's start with the stop-motion animations, which were so well done and dark and beautiful.
I love how the writers actually knew about pathological/neural disorders. No one ever talks about how PTSD and autism can be similar, but they did. Also there's usually a pattern in which it's always a crazy woman and a "normal" guy who can "fix her", but this time they made sure we knew that he wasn't normal at all. They went through so much shit and we know that they couldn't actually heal each other, but fighting together is better than alone (and they made that very clear, they were not fixing each other, but embracing who they were and trying to live a happy life). I cried so many times because I, myself, am neurodivergent and have a personality disorder, so I could relate too much to all of them.
I loved that they managed to show the back story of the patients in the hospital as well, that just proved that the point of the drama was not only about the romance (actually a lot of things show that).
I also liked the plot twist a lot. I was expecting it, but I think my brain just thought "omg it would be so crazy if the mom was her, right? lol" it was a lucky guess, I think. I just thought she had too much screen time for a side character.
But for me, the best part was Ko Moon Yeon's books. Those were absolutely great. The way her stories were for children but in a dark way and they apply perfectly with life and were so INTENSE. I think I might've cried with almost every story they narrated.
What they did to Sang-Tae at the end got me very emotional, knowing he would get his independence (an he actually wanted this, he was the one who asked for it) and knowing that he would be in good care, even without his brother was very healing.
Watch it.

Award won leading actress
After winning the best actress award I would say just watch to see why, but after watching this 3 times front to back you would say must be good and it is, yes it does have some weak spots one the mother so changed her own daughter can’t recognize her is a reach, her mother being the head of the nursing is a stretch, the father is a hard buy, but the leads brings us a great time and the brother is one hard act to follow so just watch it. This movie has brought the lead actress to the top of the list her value has increased that says a lot on how good this drama is, supporting cast performances were great the ending is why I rewatch if your going to invest 16 hours then you need to have a ending that you can say satisfied and rewarded the time spent and this one does.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

My first K drama
This was my first Korean drama which allowed me to immerse myself into the world of the imaginable beauty of Korean scenery, music and storytelling. It’s okay to not be okay is a captivating story about growing and healing. I loved how the writers dealt with mental health issues and how the actors delivered all the hidden messages. Aesthetics of this show are from another dimension. The story was so beautifully woven and wrapped, like a cup of hot tea on a freezing night. The soundtrack is one of my favourites. Do not hesitate and watch it!Esta resenha foi útil para você?

A Deeply Emotional Journey
"It's Okay to Not Be Okay" has firmly established itself as one of my all-time favourite dramas, a sentiment reaffirmed by a recent rewatch. The series excels in every aspect, delivering a beautifully crafted narrative that is touching and carefully planned. What stands out most is the chemistry between the male lead (ML) and female lead (FL), both compelling and deeply moving, providing a strong emotional core to the story. Each episode, with its blend of main and side stories, masterfully evokes a range of emotions, often bringing me to tears. The way the drama intertwines personal struggles with broader themes of mental health and healing is both educational and heartrending. This is a standout drama that combines excellent storytelling with powerful performances, making it a must-watch for anyone looking for a deeply emotional and thought-provoking series.

"You’re all empty inside. You’re just loud. Like an empty can.”
There has never been a drama where I wouldn't change a single thing. Until this. That is why this is my all time favourite drama.
If you can see my ratings for every other drama, you know I'm pretty picky when it comes to perfect ratings. I'm also very picky when it comes to high ratings (8.5+). But this one takes the cake.
There's powerful emotions - performed by one of the best cast I've ever seen.
There's traumatic memories - making you hold your heart in pain.
There's an abundance of tears - forcing you to cry alongside every time. It's not diluted but perfectly timed and required.
There's beautiful smiles - willing the corners of your lips to curl and join in.
There's comedy injected with perfect timing - never pulling you out of the story.
I love this drama with all my heart and even every single character. A number of quotes I even debated to make my senior quote. If you're ready and willing to laugh, smile, cry and fall in love... this drama will always be waiting for you.

In my Top 3 Kdrama
Re (re re) watching this drama and still enjoying as much as the first time (or even more !).2nd of my Top 3 (My Mister 1st and The Glory 3rd),
First time I watched IOTNBO it really was a « good surprise » because synopsis didn’t sound that good for me so I didn’t expected a lot from it.
And woww !!! I was wrong :/ it was so great ! I loved Go Mun Young character. One of my favorite FL characters and soooo well portrayed by Seo Yea Ji, stellar acting / impressive !
Oh Jung Se is also very talented. Of course other actors (Kim Soo Hyun, Park Gyu Young, etc…) are very good too.
I love everything in this drama:
- Amazing casting/acting : as explained above main characters and support roles are portrayed by very great and impressive actors. IOTNBO was the second or third Kdrama I watched and these talented actors made me want to watch more !
- Writing/Story/Plot: Sometimes emotional, sad and/or funny the storyline is consistent and allows actors to shine. Real characters you feel close to. Interesting relationships (love, friendship). Credible development of lead characters and support roles.
- Direction/Filming : same as the storyline, direction/filming allows actors to show how great and talented they are. A great work ! (IOTNBO atmosphere made me think to Tim Burton)
- OST : even OST is very good. A lot of songs are now in my playlist (In Your Time, Wake Up, I’m Your Psycho, In Silence, Facing The Fate, For Joo Ree, etc…)
To summary IOTNBO is for me a Masterpiece I love and recommand ! It is the perfect drama to (re)watch when you want/need to have a good time !

I loved this K-drama so should you
I loved this K-drama, I loved it so much to the point that I finished it in 1 and 1/2 days. I loved it so much because of all the plot twists, if you like plot twists or K-drams where there is denial in love but in the end they fall in love this is the show for you. Things I disliked in this drama were that I didn't like how the male lead had bipolar feelings toward the female, and also that the male lead was too focused on his brother instead of his feelings. But things I liked in this drama were that the story wasn't just focused on romance but also family problems and thriller. I liked how the female lead overcame her fears, and also i liked how the second male lead was more fond of the female than the male lead. If you want to watch a drama that doesn't just focus on love this is the one for you.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Just one
