I haven't seen any dramas for awhile so I had quite an open mind while watching it. I will try to be neutral but I am a huge Lee Min Ki fan, so that's there.

Let's start with the story. The mystery was pretty good and had an interesting turn. What I like about it, is that it didn't really try to hide the mine mastermind behind the plan and focused more on the motives and how the police is looking for the suspects. This was the true value of the drama, not necessary "who had done it", as the story simply had too many threads to focus on one suspect. It was really interesting to look for the clues together with the cast. The only problem is that the relation between detectiv Jo and Seo-hui was well... too open. In normal life no policeman would shere so many data with a normal civilian and let the civilian look for the clues by themselves. So you need to switch of the "rationality" a bit while following the plot but let's say it, it's a drama, not a documentary on police force. And the plot is still very good!

Now to the romance, which is.... so subtle that it is almost non existent xD Seriously, If you want a non romantic korean drama, this is it! I think I have never watched anything like this before. We all know that dramas are mainly about love and while the reasons behind some of the actions is love (parental, romantic, etc.), the purpose of the lead characters meeting is nowhere near there. It is such a fresh thing to do and I love it!

To the acting now, which is superb, really. Lee Min Ki cannot have a bad role, this man can play anyone and anything, this is somehow crazy how good can he be. Even in the drama itself, he has a bit dorky and mean personality at the beginning and it changes with the thickening of the plot. And the scene with his mother at the end, truly masterpiece acting. The rest of the cast was also very, very good. Lee Yoo Young (Seo-hui) character was a bit annoying but her acting was top notch. Yoon Jong Seok (Ho Gyu) totally killed it, he could look determined and aloof in one scene and then totally scared baby boy in another. I think I will follow his career from now on. Ohn Yoo Wan (Young Min) was terrific. His character was very tough to play and it really seemed natural, even in the first sceens when we don't know his intentions. The only let down was Lee Joon Hyuk as Yoo Dae Yong. Whit this kind of revelations later, his mimic was simply not there at the beginning. It's like he was learning what will his character be together with us viewer, totally opposite to Ohn Yoo Wan.

Generally, I enjoyed this drama a lot. Lee Min Ki plays in one drama per year and he always manages to choose something different or innovative. I enjoyed it a lot, definitely recommend and hey, it's on Netflix!

Compelling Drama

First off, let me say it was good to have Lee Min-Ki back on the small screen; he was missed. Secondly, what a first episode.. boy is this show going to be good... it starts so simply, a random woman falling to her death, seemed like suicide... a detective fed up with city life and looking to move back to the country to be with his mom only to find himself involved in a twisted case where a father and son in law are both dead five days apart ... what looked like a simple accident spiraled quickly into murder with the possible culprit (son in law) very much involved but also dead. As events unfolded, one gets a hint to the fact that not all is well with the JQ Group (son-in-law family), and the assemblyman's death is looked upon as a problem that took care of itself .. like what. I understand trying to eliminate a problem like the assemblyman who seemed to oppose JQ but how about their own son... was he killed because he found out they took out his girlfriend, and why was she killed; was it just for being in a relationship with a JQ son, its these types of questions that the drama raises that made it even more compelling to watch, with so much to reveal and find out. I enjoyed finding out alongside Lee Min-Ki and the rest of the cast -- one twist after another, a drama worthy of the watch indeed.

It was okay drama for me

When I was started watching this drama , I was so curious who, why they did like that this , but it was totally waste of time when I reached to it’s final episode, that twist I did not excepted it at all but it was worst too! How come, like son (hero) whose dad was doing some illegal things so that he wanted to end his dad career as well as he was suffering from cancer too! So he makes a plan with his friend to take off each part from his body to deliver it to his dad but he was not his own son , and he did not tell this to heroine at all! Aah, I got frustrated because of shit , the heroine as well as police taught they are going caught killer and killer is none other himself(hero) . Such a useless climax I had ever watched, why he should end his life because of dad. One of most irritated climax ever I watched in my life. And heroine plays major role in this drama, as a wife she does not know what he was suffering from.

Another doozy of a show

This review isn’t necessarily about the show itself. It’s another crap of a show with absurdity dialed up to 100. The plot is so ridiculous, I won’t be getting into it. I think you’ll see a plenty of negative reviews with spoilers so that’s that.

It occurred to me after watching about a dozen or so K-dramas, I’m finally getting the pattern. Here’s what I think these shows are trying to communicate to us living outside of Korea.

1. Korean Chaebols (conglomerates) are not only greedy and immoral, they actually are the ones ruling the entire country. Actually, in this show, it’s just one person.
2. Employees who work in these companies (especially higher ups) have no moral compass or ability to think for themselves so they only do what they’re told to do no matter what even if it’s criminal. Like, really, criminal.
3. Korean Justice system is corrupt and incompetent all around at all levels.
4. Korean politicians are all corrupt.
5. Korean cops are mostly bumbling idiots.
6. K-drama writers can’t advance the plots in natural and organic ways anymore. They either don’t have the ability or ran out of all good ideas so they need to rely on absurdities and super coincidence.
7. Hitting each other is the favorite and possibly the only way for Koreans to resolve any conflicts.
8. Koreans hate authorities and conglomerates and blame them for everything. But at the same time, they’re the ones enabling what they hate by keep buying from these companies and voting for these people.
9. At some point, Koreans have to really ask themselves why and how same things happen over and over again even under different political regimes and shows like this calling out the entire system.
10. Maybe I’m taking things too serious. ?
11. I’ll most likely be watching other shows saying the same thing thus enabling bad shows to be made.

Like I said in another review, these K-dramas are terrible at representing Korea well. I keep wondering why.

The sickest Kdrama ever...

This was one of the sickest dramas I've ever watched up to the point to make me wonder about the state of mind of the writer/s.
The production was decent, the acting decent too, but the story plot was based on the sock dogma and the characters lacked any realistic background.
The final explanation about the motives of the victim were not believable as no normal and sane person would force his own brother to become the S.Korean equivalent of Jack the Ripper ( or better say an Inca priest lol) in order to make a point to his own father. Seriously now.. who writes these things?!

The worst part though of this drama is that it was approved as suitable for 15 year olds!
If you want to listen to my advice... don't even think to allow your 15 year old children to watch this thing. They will get nightmares!

1/10 from me

Unbelievable how dull and bland this is. Another uneventful crime drama with incompetent authorities and airheaded characters. Watered down run-of-the-mill story that lacked coherent structure. The emotional moments didn't carry a hefty impact, part of that falls on to the characters' writing and maybe the cast performance sometime. Speaking of which, not a single character stood out.

It's definitely overrated for how much people call it "underrated".

At least it was shot nicely so there is that.
