Fighter + Tutor
I am going to own the fact that I watched this drama. And that every single star is for Fighter and Tutor. The rest of the series is pretty much a complete waste of space, including Zon and Saifah, sorry guys. But Zee and Saint, wow, yes and thank you. It must be my crazy desire to have someone look at me the way Fighter looks at Tutor that made me fall in love with them so completely. Zee and Saint OWNED their characters and that relationship. So much brilliance. So their roughly 3 hours of the story (if you watch on Viki with a few extended scenes) are totally worth every second.I've been trying to figure out exactly why Fighter and Tutor are the only relationship in this series that works for me, and I finally got it. Zon and Saifah started because of Zon's sister's BL novel. That's really it, in a nutshell. If the thought that they were destined for a relationship because of this web novel hadn't been planted in Zon's head, nothing would have happened, because the sparks weren't there. But because he freaked, and because he was acting all weird and having such strange thoughts, wham, the glorious power of suggestion worked its magic.
Contrast them with Fighter and Tutor. Fighter knew, the instant he met Tutor, that something was different, that something was special, that he was feeling something outside of the ordinary for him. This was long before that novel pairing them together even got started. The seeds had already begun growing without any sort of outside influence being placed on either Fighter or Tutor. The spark was there the moment they locked eyes, and every moment after that was simply a promise and anticipation of what was to come. That kind of relationship, the kind that begins organically from the first moment two people meet, I can support. Not the kind that gets started because a fujoshi gets her claws into someone and starts planting ideas.
Zon and Saifah truly were characters in a BL novel because it's the only thing that explains their 180 of emotions. Fighter and Tutor were writing their own story long before Zon's sister opened her laptop to start her fanfiction.
So there you go. I was finally able to verbalize why Fighter and Tutor are it for me, and Zon and Saifah, just, no. I don't like BL dramas where fujoshi girls are the ones who make normally straight guys suddenly doubt their straightness. It's why I don't like Mu Ren and Li Cheng in HIStory 4, because they were forced into romance by a fujoshi manipulating their emotions and it felt fake. At least Xing Si was already definitely gay. While I get the anger from some fans with the "drunken rape" scene, at least Xing Si and Yong Jie were clearly in that LGBTQ+ camp ALREADY. They were not influenced by a fujoshi into having feelings for each other; the feelings were already there and had been for years and just needed one specific catalytic moment to get things moving.
I'll get off my minor soapbox now, but since I actually took the time to reason out why I LOVE Fighter and Tutor and that they're the only thing worth watching in this entire drama, I figured that I'd better write it out while it was still fresh.

What an amazing chemistry
--------------“Basically, it’s a fluffy, feel good chicken noodle soup for the soul during these difficult times. So give Why R U a chance while deep in your quarantine.” - Quote from Film Daily.
-------------
I know the show is kind of a mess and probably missed so many things because of Covid and I agree with the quote above.
As some of us know, they were in the middle of filming episode 6 when Covid started and while I believe they shouldn't have aired the episodes while they were still filming the show, I don't know what their plans were if there was no Covid. Still a little confused about what the show was about, but I thought it was funny.
I read that some fans were upset because the show was about SaifahZon, but were overshadowed by TutorFighter. Like I said, I don't know what they were planning or if TutorFighter really should be a secondary main couple...
I don't know if it was intentional, but Zee's "gay panic" face every time Saint got closer to him was amazing. I believe, by the amazing chemistry they were showing, they had a lot of workshops to build the character and this chemistry.
Unlike Saint and Zee, Tommy and Jimmy knew each other before because they belong to the same agency. So they were more comfortable with each other and their kissing scenes felt more natural cof *tongue* cof.
Another thing that I liked about the show is that FighterTutor are a versatile couple, which we just don't see much in BL. The project was sold as 18+ for good reason. I love it when actors are not afraid and give everything to the character/scene. They trusted each other and the project and worked really hard.
I have a feeling that this project was Saint’s last BL show as an actor. I will see if the novel is ready and translated to have an idea of what they were looking for.

It’s now one of my favorite BL ever
Let me start off with story, I like the first time around and when I first watched it I didn’t skip at all. Fighter and tutor weren’t my favorite but I still watched their scenes.Sai and Zon were my favorite and the ost by pantherist is one of my favorite ost of all time the song was great. The acting was great it could get a little cringy at time but besides that it was great. I rewatch it once a Month because it’s so great . The songs were bangers by the way, you had artists like mean, pantherist and etc very great.P.S. Bring the show back for a second Season
9/10

This is the first Thai BL I ever watch and there were things I really liked, but the bad things sometimes overtook the good ones to the point where I thought about stopping watching it.
First thing is the acting. Except maybe two actors (Zee and Saint), the others were really bad at it and I can understand it if it’s the first time they’re acting, but it threw me off a lot of times.
The story is a bit messy at points. It starts with Zon being the main character of the drama, but at some point the story is mainly focused on the Tutor and Fighter relationship, and they kind of forget about showing us the evolution of Zon and Saifah’s feelings for each other. And I’m not even going to talk about all the secondary characters and their relationships that are shown from time to time, which are underdeveloped and a bit thrown to your face without almost any context about who these characters are.
About my favourite characters of this drama: the chemistry between Fighter and Tutor is amazing and it kept me completely hooked to the point where I appreciated a lot that they became almost the main focus of the story, because they were the only reason I finished this drama. Their acting is really good and their story is well developed, showing us their struggles and them talking about their worries most of the time (and also the consent guys!!). I really liked that theirs was not the typical bad guy falls for the good guy and they do dirty things but the good guy doesn’t make any movement until the other does. No, it wasn’t anything like that and I really liked it. Why I say their acting is really good? Their eyes. That’s it. They truly know how to express their feelings through their gazes.
Now that I’ve said that, I must say that I really appreciated the talking about LGTBQ+ rights. It’s not often you watch a show where they discuss these matters, and they were really well talked about in this drama. Fighter having an issue with his dad not accepting his sexuality was pretty much realistic, and they handled it very good.
All in all, I have confused feelings about this BL and that’s why I gave it a 5/10.

The chemistry and healthy relationship dynamic between FighterTutor is what hooked me.
It’s been two years and I still can’t move on from this amazing series. Some may not love it but I do. It’s the only series I can rewatch over and over and never tire of. Fighter and Tutor showed a healthy mature relationships where two people in love fight for each other and put the other persons needs above their own desires, even if it hurts. Saifon and Zon were cute and I enjoyed their love story and their acting was wonderful but I fell in love with FighterTutor. I love that Zee and Saint were able to design many of their scenes together. They had creative freedom to come up with some of the most beautiful kisses. So full to passion and desire. Can I just say that that necklace kiss scene was AMAZING. ZaintSee has the most beautiful, loving and ? chemistry I’ve ever seen still to this day. I can’t say enough positive things about this series. It is because of WhyRU that I found ZaintSee and for that I’ll be forever grateful. On top of having the most talented two actors that came together to form the best cp I’ve ever seen, WhyRU also has great acting, beautiful cinematography, you’ll laugh, you’ll definitely cry towards the end of the series, it has the best OST’s…and like I said, the chemistry between Fighter and Tutor is the reason I believe in love again. There were no toxic relationships like you see a lot of in bl’s and I especially loved that Fighter and Tutor weren’t your stereotypical Seme & Uke character. They were equals. They have this rare beautiful ? push and pull relationship. You have to see it to understand but what ZS did with their characters is rare to see in a bl. I’ve never seen it except maybe with MaxTul. Anyone considering watching WhyRU I highly recommend you do so. Give it a try. You won’t regret it.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Tell me WHY this series exist!!!!
This review will only be helpful for those who prefer story and series quality over steamy kiss scenes. Please don't read my review if you are into later as I would hurt your sentiments.I had pretty high expectations from this series when I saw the trailer, I mean it had pretty good elements to produce a good light-hearted rom-com series. Also, it had Saint and Zeke but then just what the hell happened? The series started off good but then it was all over the place. The plot execution was so poor that it made me cry in despair as I questioned my sanity in the middle of the night.
The Chemistry between Saint and Zeke was good but that's the end of it. Throughout the series all you are going to find is their make-out scene. I absolutely love the kiss scenes because I am a sucker for romance, but what's with eating each other's face the moment they are on the same screen. No offense but it simply felt as if they were two horny teenagers. I am sorry this is just not my cup of tea. I came here for the plot, light-hearted comedy, and fluffy romance but all I got was just R-rated scenes with no whatsoever background.
Saifah and Zon who were supposed to be the main couple didn't at all leave an impression. Sure there were a few cute moments, but their weak acting just didn't amplify their chemistry. It was so bland that I was thoroughly disappointed.
I personally felt that the direction was just not good. As an audience, I just couldn't connect with any one of the characters in the series which just made the series extremely boring for me and a waste of time honestly.

I gave the main couple a try, I really did. They started off as what must have been an attempt at an enemies to lovers, except it was one-sided and the supposed hate kinda fell off from one episode to another. The show then started a series of convoluted attempts to have them interact that didn't really feel very genuine and at some point I even forgot what their goal was in the first place. They don't even seem to have any individual personalities, much less any chemistry together.
The side couple though, oh boy. Now THAT was an enemies to lovers. If the show was only this couple I'd give it a 10/10 because nothing about them was forced. Unfortunately since this drama involved two couples, they were a bit rushed towards the end but nevertheless the process of their hatred evolving into them tolerating each other to them liking each other's presence to friendship to LOVE was SO satisfying. Not to mention they're their own people outside of their relationship which is a big plus.
(Thank you thai dramas for your exquisite kiss scenes. I love you thai dramas. Thank you for doing god's work.)
If anyone were to pick up this drama I'd recommend skipping the scenes involving the main couple if you don't like them after episode 3 but that also might just be me.

Why R U?

Main couple Mia?
I’m watching this after the Korean adaptation so I was aware of some of the plot, however the Thai version had a way heavier focus on the side couple of Fight and Tutor which I didn’t really care for. they were cute sure but I was more interested in the main couples development but they felt even more like the side couple here and the main plot felt lost because of it. it wasn’t unwatchable but i can’t say I enjoyed it fully. overall it has a cute story based on a web novel I believe, the Korean version I think I liked more just because it felt more fluid with the main couples development.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Watched For Fighter and Tutor
Oh, let me tell you about this absolute gem. I’m not sure, about the naysayers of this series. I mean have y’all seen Chains Of Heart? Tell me a bout bad editing again, I dare you. Seriously I don’t know why people are talking about the pacing as if there is some imaginary finish line when people should enjoy fantastic Fightor and Tutor chemistry of their storyline. Now, let's talk about the acting. Zee and Saint's performances are just chef's kiss. Zee's can act with just his eyes, speaking volumes and adding so much depth to his character. And both Zee and Saint know how to use non verbal communication to convey so much making the storytelling even more believable. Truly I’m sad that I won’t get to see these two act again.
Tutor and Fighter's dynamics of love are simply beautiful. It's refreshing to see them break away from the usual stereotypes and have a relationship built on consent and mutual respect. The scene when Fighter finally gave into to his feeling for Tutor by kissing him. Bells and whistles!
While I’m not into the other characters! Zon and Saifah's sweet story is still sweet. It was a bit underdeveloped but it was lost on me since I wasn’t vested in the side couple.
Why R U doesn't shy away from delivering an important message about love and acceptance. It's not just your typical BL drama; it challenges stereotypes tropey school BL. It challenges some homophobic matters. So many wonderful scenes with thoughtful speeches.
So, if you want a series with a great BL story, look no further than Fighter and Tutor I. this series. I'm totally obsessed with them, and I enjoyed rewatching their scenes. They are a magical couple without rainbows and unicorns. Just a good beach frolic. I can’t help but gush over this fantastic series.

This can be a BL which you’ve always looked for
This is a really must-watch to all the BL fans out there! It has everything you will want in a BL.It started off on a very veryyyy good note with many couples but because of Coronavirus they had stop shooting because of lockdown so it was a bit rushed ending for one or two couples but it was not bad it went all well at the end ,It had to be more focused on the first two couples .If this coronavirus was not there this series would have been the best! Yet it was really higher than the mark ,I didn’t thought it to be this good when I started it.It has story development, no annoying female lead , lots and lots of veryyyyy intimate scenes(they were surprisingly many), great acting and great casting.
This series was really a near-perfect one.All the scenes were soo nicely done even during this coronavirus situation.Reslly hats off to the production, acting team.
I never thought I needed this series soo much!!!
Highly Recommended!!
