I loved this. It took me a while to get used to the exaggerated reactions. But I really enjoyed it. It's not that it's super nuanced, but it felt far more than just a surface-level drama - the various different plot lines sat nicely alongside each other and all came together as time went on, so things suddenly escalated with more drama - but it wasn't too extreme. And whilst there were some of the important cliches, it was different. I liked the main character, particularly as time went on. It never felt lost.
