Both deal with cross-dressing themes. My Bratty Princess, w/Jang Na ra and Alec Su, is set at the imperial court and deal with a girl of noble house who dresses up as a sort of a street robin hood and thus meets the emperor and a prince..
An unlikely friendship develops between them.

both deal with women cross dressing to see justice realized, sungkyunkwan scandal takes the cross dressing much farther though.
This is another period drama that involves a new and uprising generation of feudal families that are forced to make difficult decisions that war with their conscience. Also there are hidden birth secrets that change the pathways of the main characters as well as "Robin Hood" types feuding with tyrannical leaders. Both have a decent amount of humor, but turn serious in the end addressing more weighty matters, and both involve kick-butt women and decent amount of fighting scenes.
Similarities
=> Both are stories of women who are considered "action" girls. They both eventually became the empress of a Chinese empire.
=> The emperor doesn't realize the girl's real identity as a woman until much later episodes. Its because he thought she was a man when he first met her
=> There's a lot of palace intrigue. The prospective bride of the emperor, basically tortures the female lead because she was jealous of her.
=> Both emperor's have a "loyal" eunuch.

Queen Lau reminds me of this old drama My Bratty Princess.
Both FL is funny and totally change the atmosphere of the palace once they entered.
Another thing is they're sassy and not easily bullied. They know how to fight back.
Both FL is the daughter of a high-grade official in the court.
Both assist the emperors and give them a whole new perspective on how to govern the country.

The main female character in Fake Princess (FP) reminded me so much of the general's daughter in My Bratty Princess (MBP).
In MBP, the female lead was a feisty lifely young woman who loved to go around in male disguise and making friends with unsavory characters to rob the rich, but in her case, it was to give to the poor.
In FP, the female lead was also as feisty and lively though her motives were more selfish in nature but she also cared for those who were part of her 'family'.
Both series involved a series of incidents which required both leads to face. Though my fave would still be Alex Su!
