The fate Dong Hua and Feng Jiu deserves!

First time writing a review - ever! I feel so strongly about the 3L3W series.

Similar to TMOPB, ELOD follows the same flow. This is the love story of dong Hua and feng jiu! For their fans from TMOPB, you’re in for a real treat — this show was perfect for me as it gave me the ending TMOPB couldn’t give. It broke my heart in TMPOB to know that dong hua’s name couldn’t be on the stone of fate. I personally felt like they deserved to be together forever. Their story here is entirely different though so no comparisons in that sense.

- feng jiu chasing dong hua / mortal realm (this was my least favourite arc) it was like a repeat of the initial eps in TMOPB where she was all gooey eyed and dong Hua didn’t even notice her. They maintained this for a good 20+ eps I had to fast forward a few parts. This is also the arc where feng jiu goes down to the mortal realm to help dong Hua with his trial. Here, lessons are learnt and feng jiu matured thereafter.

- back in sky heaven (this is where things pick up, yay) every ep from here on was super duper good, dong Hua started to notice feng jiu and he fell in love with her. Finally ice face!!!! I really enjoyed their interactions here including how much she tried avoiding him at the start but it was really refreshing to see this side to the almighty dong hua

- aranya’s dream (this was my FAVOURITE arc) and no I don’t mean Aranya/Shen ye’s love story cos tbh I couldn’t really care about that tragedy. This is the arc where it gets all lovey dovey for our leads, it was so enjoyable watching them lead their happy coupley lives in another universe! I can only go on and on about the episodes in this arc cos there were really too many sweet and key moments here!! Without diving into detail, I’m referring to eps 35, 42, 44, 46 amongst many other eps hehe

Alas, we reach the end and what I really didn’t like was how everything was only resolved in the last episode or so. While they did give us plenty of scenes that allow viewers to envision their lives together, it’s not the same!!! But in hindsight all these fancy schmancy stuff don’t matter cos even at the end and at every battle, dong hua’s love for feng jiu was 100%. And I think that’s the highlight of ELOD - his love towards her. His love is quiet and protective, more often than not, jealous too! His possessiveness wasn’t overbearing and his jealousy I found endearing.

Oh can we get a boo boo for ji heng?! She did not deserve the happiness she got in the end, yan chi wu is too good for her *rolls eyes* I was also cheering when chong lin gave feng jiu a good wake up call - why didn’t you believe him? She claimed to be steadfast and that she wld wait but at the end of it she just believed what she wanted to believe and it lead to even more misunderstands. Oh well, alls well that ends well.

Now, where can I get a lover who would make me a ring from half his heart?!

Surprising… in a good way.

I’m not sure if I enjoyed this drama due to my low expectations or if I just have a weird taste in dramas..? I was looking for something light hearted and so I decided to give this a shot as I’m a huge fan of PMY. I wasn’t expecting to like this due to the reviews but omg… I actually liked it!? I don’t understand the hate.

I found the male lead pretty refreshing! Awkward, cute and endearing - I thought he was well casted for his character. In fact I like this awkward CP pairing more than her previous work with Song Kang (whom I adore). I must say though, yes it’s cliche and the storyline is pretty shallow but in the first place, I didn’t expect it to be anything more. It’s actually so bing-able I unknowingly watched all 16 eps in 3 days. Maybe I’m weird, but I enjoyed the pacing and the way their romance panned out which was what I came to see anyway. Loads of screen time for our leads (yay!)

I found myself rooting for their relationship and they didn’t disappoint. It was a mature one with no unnecessary drama (between them), I loved all their scenes together. I’d say… maybe lower expectations, go in with an open mind and give this a shot. It’s not even nearly as trashy as some of the cdrama romcoms out there I swear!

That said, I do hope PMY takes on chirpier romcoms such as this one. I’ve missed the fluffiness~
