This is more intense and more serious than part 1, however it also contains a lot of cheesy part that most Wuxia seris has.
First, the petty misunderstanding. I honestly thought it made Chai Yu's Character seems so narrow minded and petty.
He knew that Jin must be lying and obviously as smart as he is, he should of know Jin was lying. His hate and reaction would of been better IF Jin actually betrayed her in a much cruel way - just to save him. Not that scene on the cliff.
He acted like an immature brat bullying the girl that he likes.
Allen is really handsome in this part though. Unlike part 1, I couldn't finish the rest of the series and I escaped a lot of scenes.
This series has so many characters and backstory that I really don't care about. I wish they had just focus on the love story instead of the usual "the mac has to sacrifice themselves and be the hero for everyone, so they can die "

I didn't like the first episode and I still think the start was so unnecessary.
But I do live the interactions between the main characters. The funny scenes of Chai Yu and Jin. I am not really a fan of Dilraba from her previous works but she really did a great job on this series and she is so pretty.
Same goes with Allen, his acting was prowess to the point that I almost forgot he is married because his acting seems to real.
I have watched this series for almost 5 times

This is one of the worst movies I've seen.
I do not even know what this movie wanted to show us- True Love? Drama? Second chances? or what?It feels as if the movie wanted to do something deep but completely failed at it. The story was all over the place, poor execution and all.
Characters.
Dawn's character is also one of the worst characters I've seen. IF she cheated on him just "once" - then it's a mistake. But no, she slept with her lover for "46 times" - that's no longer a mistake. She liked it. She was really into it. And then what? In the end she put all the blame on her husband. She wouldn't stop the affair if she didn't get sick. She wouldn't feel sorry if she didn't get sick. Her husband will remain ignorant. And then what? she still ended up putting all the blame to her husband, even had the guts to act angrily at him for showing his emotions. He has the right to call her names, the right to be angry and show it and she deserve it.
I really do hate her character and wished that she suffered more than that.
Another one is Tanfelix' character.
What a bad son. His mother is dying and what did we see? His bandmate and his gf and time with them is more important than being with his mother. Did we saw him feeling bad or sad about his mother's situation? How many times did we saw him visiting his mother? And then what? He even accused his father of flirting out with his gf and much worst? he even hit his own father!!! Wow!
I am not even sure if that scene was made for the comedy aspect of the movie but I truly hope not, because if it was - then it's not even funny.
Michael V's character.
There were times when I find his scenes funny - but he overdid it. Some comedy scenes just doesn't feel right with the scene. And why did he not allow himself to talk to his wife and say what he truly feel?
The only thing that I agreed with him was when he hit his wife's lover - the jerk who think that everything is okay after he explained his side.
The Lover and his wife:
I honestly do not get why they still stay together. His wife used the excuse that she doesn't have a choice. Does she know about his affair with Michael's wife? Is she really okay with it? There are lots of things that wasn't explain and explore on her part. And the jerk who choose to stay with her because May doesn't want to leave her husband. God.
The characters on this movie really did frustrate me a lot. I am still feeling annoyed everytime I remember them.

I must say that this is one of those rare time-travel dramas that I really like. Of course it's not perfect and definitely have flaws here and there - especially in the last episode but the overall experience and feelings I got while watching this drama is more than enough for me to look past over those flaws.
What I love about this drama is the realistic portrayal of a married couple who once so in love with each other but ended up growing apart due to lack of communication and understanding of each other's situation. The way they showed us how they struggle with financial difficulties, the hardship of having to lower your pride in your job because you need to - in order to feed your family. The touching way of showing us how, once in our youth we were so passionate, dreamful and full of hope for our future only for us to be hit by reality once that time comes - that not all of us may achieve our dreams, not all of us may get what we wanted but that doesn't stop us from moving forward and just keep on struggling to make a living - even though once in our youth, we had those times where we wanted money for useless things and waste them without thinking of tomorrow. I love to see how these married couple grew up and learn more in life after they traveled back to past.
My favorite scenes are those scenes with Jin Joo and her mother - they never failed to make me teared up and cry sometimes. The thought that once in our youth we may have taken their love and care for granted and ignore them but once they are gone, we will do everything just to have that moment to be with them again, to touch them again, to see them, to talk to them and all - it was so touching and really well done.
My only problem with this series is the way the writer put those usual cliche troupe near the end, it got me asking "Why?" - this drama could've been perfect without them.
Nevertheless. this is one of those dramas that will stay in my heart for a long time.

Lifeless
Okay. I watched this drama because of Ren Jialun and had high expectation because the director is one of the directors of "The Untamed"- probably why, I am so disappointed.Ren Jialun, was really charming as Changyi (Blue Whisper), so even though that drama has lots of boring and cringey parts, I at least managed to finish it and re-watched my favorite parts. I even started to like Dilraba because of that, even though I always avoid her dramas.
However, this drama doesn't have that charm. Not even my love for Ren Jialun could keep me from getting bored(although he is still handsome in this drama) it's just that... there's just something that this drama really lacks... Maybe charm? it just felt lifeless.
I have no problem with slow burner dramas (I even managed to finish Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace) but this one was just one of those that really... seems hard to finish. It's extremely slow.
And it doesn't help that the main couple has ZERO chemistry.
I saw a lot of people say that Dilraba and RJ has no chemistry, but they at least look good together. But the main couple on this one just don't have that... I just don't get that giddy feeling that I should be getting from the Main couple.
I only saw LQ in three dramas (The Wolf, Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace and Princess Agent). I am not really fan of her acting but she was good in Princess Agent, so I think those roles suits her best... not the noisy or hyper girl like this one.
I am sure the reason for the lack of life of this drama is not the main cast.. because you can see they tried their best.
I mostly blame it to the writers and the producers.
The writers probably wanted to try something new but doesn't know how to execute it.
The producers who are in charge of editing is also at fault.
I'm putting it on hold at epispde 13, maybe I will try to watch it again when the drama has ended or when I no longer have anything better to watch.

Honestly speaking, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece unlike to what I often see from comments. The story has flaws and the actions wasn't that good. The first three episodes were confusing and boring so I thought I should just skip - since the only thing that made me curious about the story is WXX's past which they shown on the first episode. So I skipped and watched. I decided to watch the "special" series first since it's shorter. I must say that, the best part of this drama is only up to the last part of the long flashback - WXX's past story was so addicting. It made me hooked so I decided to watch the full series (50 episodes).
I kept rewatching those flashback episodes again and again and again. I even read the novel to see the difference.
However, I still can't rewatch the episodes that came after that flashback. I feel like the writing became less intriguin and the plot was all over the place. It was boring, cringy and cliche. I couldn't help but think that the rest of the story was made only for fan service - same with the novel.
I honestly wish that the series was only about WXX's past. Those 30 episodes of flashback was worthy enough for a 10 despite its flaws - maybe could even pass for a movie.
But nevertheless I really didn't expect to get hooked to the series.
The actors did a good job. I wouldn't say their acting is perfect but they really gave life to the characters. Xiao Zhan have moments where his acting was real good. Some moments it was just so-so and some moments it wasn't really good.
His acting at first as a funny WXX wasn't really that good. You can tell he was just really trying to act something he's not used to. When he's angry - you cannot see any anger in his eyes.
But during his siege or rebellion, his acting was at it's best. He was really good in showing WWX's hatred, frustrations, pain, regret and hopelessness.
WYB - was also good. I think his characer is also hard to portray cuz he doesn't have many lines and LZ doesn't show many emotions. If played by someone else, his character will definitely look boring and cringy to watch. Although I did get bored or lost interest on LZ later on, cuz WXX took all of my attention.
I also love that they gave more scenes for the Senior sister and the siblings relationship. So you can understand why WXX love them so much.
Some people hate Wen Qing's addition scenes but imo it worked a lot - it is hard to get attached to her in the novel cuz she only appear a few times so I couldn't really feel WWX's desvatation upon their death. But in the drama, they came more human to me, it let me get attached to her and her Wen sect. So seeing how kind they were, how normal they were compared to the evil Wens made it really painful seeing what happens to them.
I did enjoyed the 30 episodes of this drama, enough to get me hooked and watch it over and over again and glad that I gave it a try.

One of the best Philippine drama
I do not really watch Philippine drama that much - for they tend to have the same repetitive plot ( and not to mention) they always have too many episodes. Most of them are good during pilot week but after that, they tend to be too draggy with never ending extensions. I saw the teaser while browsing on FB and got curious on how are they gonna execute this one, and so, I decided to watch and now I'm hooked! This review is for the 20 episodes, I will edit this review once the series ends.
Story: I have been reading manhuas with isekai genre, so this drama really piqued my interest.
The story is not perfect, there are some plots in the story that I don't agree about and find them too shallow, but since the story is still interesting I will just enjoy it.
First:
I do not agree with the professor's reason for sending Klay in the novel. His student cheated (which is obviously wrong) but hey, this is where my problem is at. Klay asked why must she focus on the subject(history on this case) when it doesn't really has anything to do with her course. So as a way of teaching her a lesson on why history is important- he sent her inside a book - so she can experience what Filipinos of the past has experienced.
Honestly speaking, Klay makes sense but the professor has to act like a tyrant. Sure she will learn something from it, she will learn history and learn a lot about life - but still his reason just looks like a tyranny.
I wish she was sent there for different reason or a different way.
Second:
KLAY - You do not have to be a history geek to know about the history of your own country. You do not need to read the whole novel because it's being taught in school, from Elementary to High School. It doesn't take a genius to know that people back then have different mindset, different rule, different law and different culture - yet, Klay doesn't even seem to have even a slight knowledge about that. Twenty episodes and she still doesn't seem to think that she is in different timeline. The way she talked (in English) with the guardia civil about human rights and woman's rights...and the way she acted in those important situations - just doesn't seem normal since most of us(if not all) have the tendency to be careful in unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people yet Klay doesn't seem to have that sense of fear.
Anyway she is funny at times so I do hope they will give her character some development.
What I love about this drama is how they gave life to the characters. I honestly didn't feel anything for the characters in the book... but in this drama...argh.. it made me understand why a lot of people hate the ending of El Fili.
Cast: They did great job in casting.
Barbie really added life in what would of been a dark story.
Dennis is really handsome and charming as Ibarra
And I must say the two have such a strong chemistry it almost feel illegal.
I still haven't seen that strong chemistry between Dennis and Julie Anne - but we cannot really blame them. It's an old fashion love, old fashion relationship, old way of courting and dating - so it may seem boring to some.
Klay also has a cute chemistry with Fidel. Although I am not really shipping them because Fidel almost hit her... if a man tried to hit you then that's already a no,no to me because for me, that would mean they have the tendency to do that again
Cinematography is great, costumes and locations are perfect - kudos to the whole crew.
I just hope this will not fall into the same old style of Filipino dramas that get draggy, boring, cliche, ridiculous and cringy because of never ending extension(due to popularity)
Edit: Changed my rating to 6
Disappointed with the latter part of the series,

This review is from the first episode and will be edited after the drama ends
Am changing my rating from 10 to 7.5The drama started really strong - I love Naksu and her fighting scenes. It took a while to get used to her new body but the actress Somin did a great job in portraying Naksu and Mudeok.
I am mostly interested in the past and the mysteries of the other characters.
However, lately the story started to focus on romance and I feel like they started to neglect some of the plots. Almost everyone is having a romance and love triangle...
6 more episodes to go but it seems nothing is ever changing, except of course the romance part which I am not really interested in.

Plot: 4/10
The start of the series is slow and boring. The latter part has some thrill in it but falls flat in storytelling. It felt like the writer was trying so hard to get some shock value as if telling the audience "Look here, aren't they pitiful? Cry and have some pity. This is what happened to women back then. Horrible isn't it? Here, more tragedy so you can cry for more" - that's how it feels like while watching the series. The entire thing felt like it was "forcing" the audience to feel something for the characters - something that could be done with better writing, without it feeling forced
I have seen similar dramas showing Japanese brutality. I have seen dramas that show the suffering of comfort women but most of them don't feel too forced.
The story just keeps going in circles. There was no depth for the characters as well. I blame it all on bad writing.
And the lines, some lines are too cringe. Again, it's as if the writers wanted a line that will go viral or will be used as a "hugot" line.
Also, the characters felt "too modern" - the way they speak, their looks and overall acting are way too modern (especially Adelina and Teresita)
Acting: 8/10
Barbie(Adelina) doesn't fit well with historical dramas. She has what we call an iPhone face. She looks too modern for that period and let us be honest, even the way she talks sounds too modern.
Dennis(Yuta) carried this drama imo. Yuta as a villain isn't that interesting. His backstory isn't that interesting and even the reason for his actions lacks depth. To be honest, I would prefer it if they didn't give him that sob backstory. There wasn't anything special about Yuta. But Dennis made him interesting. He managed to make Yuta a scary psychopath. He does not need to say any lines, he already looks intimidating just by doing nothing.
David - improved A LOT compared to his previous works. Unfortunately, his character seems to be stuck as Adelina's simp. The story could go on without him.
Alden - His character was the most interesting at the start of the series. Alden's acting made me feel his desperation and his struggle being a peasant - abused by the rich people he works for. Unfortunately, his character also started to become boring in the latter part of the story. The story could also go on without him.
Rochelle(Amalia) - I think she has the most realistic acting, a lot of her lines are cringey though but she is one of those actresses that made me really feel for her character. I wish there was more for her character unfortunately current episode (90) just put her into another horrible situatiion and that gets tiring tbh
Supporting actors - Japanese soldiers - they all did well looking intimidating. I honestly thought they hired real Japanese actors, that's how good those extras were.
The black horse of this series imo is Jay(Akio) - I thought he would be the one who would kidnap Teresita and that he was the main villain. The actor did great looking like a creepy stalker. The actor made Akio look like a complex character.
