medicore story/acting, some cringe/fluff, neither fish nor fowl

The trend of lazy writing continues with this show. They had a good novel, the first episodes where interesting and then they buchered the story especially in the finale. That was so lame and so badly acted, just unbelievable.

There are some highlights like cute moments, building up friendships, supportive parents, but there are very cringe moments (very fake guitar playing) and many communication issues (you see it and think "wtf is he doing?"). The showrunners could not decide to make either a comedy or a mature drama and so they decided to go the safe route delivering us the worst of both worlds. If there are too many comendy elements (with of course lot's of stupid sound effects) it's hard to take the story seriously, on the other hand the finale showed they did not really like doing it in a serious manner, so it felt extremly silly and unbelievable. They had an interesting premise but in the end it got from good to bad.

So for me it's neither fish nor fowl, just a medicore show, leaning more to the bad side. If I had not seen this show, I would not miss a thing, but there are even worse shows out there. 🤣

As usual it gets weaker with every episode

While I enjoyed the first two episodes even with its weired story, it goes down the hill from there. The blood pork soup song was really entertaining and funny for me. But overall the story lacked substance and depth. Why drop the alien aspect of it? Why can they be only be 1000 years old which is against common "knowledge" and also why can't it be in the established realm that vampires can convert a human into a vampire?
That this is low budget production is evident, because most scenes are either on the rooftop or in the two rooms or Yohs home, with some scenes outside. Only the wardrobe was a bit fancy. As usual all the comedy slices in thai series have very silly soundeffects which are just annoying.

The show is not bad per se, but it left sooooo much to be desired. The supporting cast (especially the girls) are great imho because the main leads together don't have the chemistry you expect from a BL. Other low budget shows try to compensate with more mature scenes but here they are completly absent. Just one kissing scene is disappointing for a BL. Overall a mixed bag which could have been skipped alltogether.

slow burn with emotial conflict and a cliffhanger

Why I do love slow burns, I am not a fan of mutliple couples, especially of the grown up sort on the side.
Two teachers are in the same boat as our MLs, but they know each other for more than 10 years and have not found the time to confess their feelings much much much earlier. This is a big downer of the whole show.
First I (and many others) assumend that both teachers where together, but much later on, we learn, that's not the case. That's also the reason why the female teacher has so much screen time.

Tians conflict is not really revealed. If you don't know the book, you don't know that he is a homophobe. The flashback in episode 11 shoulkd teach us that, but (!) it does not... yes he is disturbed what he has seen, but I would never have the conclusion that it makes him a homophobe. He also does not react as such in the two kissing scenes. So something is either lost from the book or lost in the script.

Other than that both characters are what you expect in a BL. One introvert, the other one an extrovert. Both with emotional damage. The character building was nicely done, You see that they are caring for each other and they are growing togehter. But they don't make the step to confess even when both feel the same. So the cliffhanger for Season 1 was done in the nicest way possible for the MLs, but the teachers were a disappointment.

So I personally have to disagree with "best BL 2024", I think that "Unknown" was better. It's a good show, with good acting, very good cinematography but the story is nothing we did not see already. It also has "Addicted Heroin" vibes but they resolve such a story in an other way. We get an unsatisfying ending because it looks like it was designed to have two seasons. Now we have to wait and see if we really get a second season, which is not a given.

serious, refreshing, cute story with a lacking end

The first gripe I have with this series is the actor of Taichi. While he is not bad, his voice is nothing compared to the actor of the movie version,. Now 7 years later they could have used the same actor because Kohei also did not look like a "freshman".. And second the finale was a disapointment especially if you have read the manga. It was Taichi going to Kohei not the reverse, it was him to confess and in the manga they had THE kiss we were all waiting for. Which would have made this series perfect, but for reasons unknown they changed it. 😭

The rest of the series is very good with some lengths but compared to all the thai crap we had this year, this was a well written script, refreshing, serious but still cute. Overall this is a recommandation and worth your while even with a finale which was not as good as it should have been.

more a soft porn than a drama

So this is a typical sexual explicit manga done in a movie...
That's how some woman fantasize about guy relationships.

The ingredients are, a straight porn actor turning gay, a close-in person who has a trauma after the death of his mother, because his Dad told him he was gay, but loved his mother and he is the fruit of their love. And of course that dad has a younger partner. 🤣

The dynamics between the dad and his partner was the most interesting part of the movie. I could have lived without most of the explicit scenes except those story relevant. This is a low budget production, so there are only six people in this movie. So for example the bar feels very steril because most of the time it's empty, except when a makeup artist for Towa goes there.

The story is simple and of course pure fantasy. There is no drama except when the jelaousy kicks in, they break up, but of course the get together again because... fantasy. It does not really makev sense that Towa disappears for some time and reappears later one, especially because they never talked about their feelings and Takato never mentions that he does not like Towa working as a porn actor. It was an afterthought in the end of the movie but it felt shallow.

If you like such movies/series good for you, but for me, it was a waste of time. Half the time it's NC scenes and the other half is ok-ish. I'm more or less offended because such is not gay life and it should not be depicted like this. Bad enough that most mangas are like this, but it sells. It also shows the double standard in japanese society, it's ok to love yaoi manga, but the son should never turn gay. They did not even try to improve the manga by giving the characters and the story much more depth which could have been done and many series still do. So for me, it's a disappointing movie without substance.

Refreshing different...

This years BL shows were mostly disappointing (story), but having said that, this show is different. While I personally don't care about makeup or fashion, it shows a different world (for me). The only cliché is, all male makeup artists/beauty advisors are gay. 🤣

Both MLs did a good job portraying their characters and it was fun to watch them grow together. A minus for me is the lackluster finale were the drama feels forced. I would have wished for a more emotional finale with some hot scenes like in episode 3 and more background for Toma in episode 7.

While their story is not as interesting as it could have been, its sensible and enjoyable. The directing and execution overall is very good. When you are tired of the 100th school/university 08/15 story, this show offers something different at a mellow pace with some cute and fluffy moments and you can come down from a stressful day in your life.

What an action firework...

While this series has sci-fi elements, it's more a spy thriller with suspense, Who betrays who is the question. James Bond would search for a superweapon, they search for a supermutagen which turns a human into an nearly invincible superhuman,

The story is interesting, the plot-twists not always expected and good acting. This series has outstanding cinematogrpahy, VFX and action/fighting sequences. I have not seen such good VFX and fighting scenes in a series, but I guess it was expensive as hell, so we get only four episodes. That's the reason this got a 10 from me.

If you dig action but expect an interesting story as well, this is for you!

exccentric but not even medicore.

If you are a Thai major in a university and you have a native speaker there, would you not speak thai? :)
This different language and it's explaination made no sense at all. And if you are friends and grew up together, would you not be able to speak each other languages after a time?

I would have wished, they would have not the "murder" case in it, which was clumsy and unrealistic and concentrating more of the MLs opening up their feelings for each others more in detail. They could even save money by only have eight episodes. 🤣

The show was ok-ish, besides the fluffy moments and some character growth of the MLs, it did not have anything special or worth remembering. Again a show which did not need to exist and if you do two languages, just don't explain it at all and nobody would care so much about it.

What Campus...

While I don't mind low-budget productions, an empty campus without any other students is just ruining the premise of the title. And what's with the over the top lipstick in the opening scene (and other), but forgetting to face-powder the one actor in the next? I don't really feel a professor who gives "love" advice. And finally why end a series with a cliffhanger? Sometimes I was reminded of Thai shows with the silly sound effects which are still annoying as hell.
This was an easy story but I guess the third person could have been spared and they should have more concentracted on character building. So few cast was a downer for me, but at least we get sensible kissing scenes which don't look forced at all.
So, this is an ok show with some length in the story telling and for me some unneeded scenes and a cliffhanger. I suppose an ex will come up in Season 2, if there is a Season 2.

Strong beginning, bad ending....

This show started strong in the first episode and the second gave a glimpse of what could be an outstanding show. But the writers missed it.
While Sea was really good acting a nearly blind person, he was not so great with the fluffy moments. Jimmy did grow in his acting but he could only do as much as he was given from the script.
The problem is the writing, the 180 turn from "enemies" to "lovers" was much too fast, the character development did just happen over night. Mhok should have much more struggle with his trauma and a spoiled brat does not turn 180° overnight also.
The side characters all did a good job
Production value and music was very good, but that does not help with the storytelling. The last two episodes are strange and the "happy ending" was too much. Day should have stayed blind, they should not have seperated in that way they did because Day was back to his spoiled brat days only thinking about himself.
The premise of the show was very good but they butchered it for "fan service" to make the show fluffy.
It's still enjoyable to watch when you don't expect exceptional story-telling.

That was entertaining!

That was my first japanese GL and I have to say, it was fun. While they had lots of comedy elements, they also tried to be mature and serious.

I loved the dynamics and chemestry of all the actresses/actors with the only minus point for me: the lackluster kissing... Either do it or don't but pressing lips together is a big no-no for me regardless of gender :) The second cringe moment was in the finale with the FLs kissing in the office. I guess they could have done that much better.

But overall an entertaining show with some laughs, production quality was very good too, costumes especially for Ayaka always interesting. So, if you never have tried a GL, this one is good starting point!

That was painful to watch....

While the actors did the job, they were asked to... the overacting, overfunny stuff was just painful to watch.
In some of the serene moments the show would have been ok to watch and you see a glimpse of what the actors are capable of. But the direction/exectution/writing was the worst.
And why do they need stupid noises for any comedy style show in Thailand? That's sooooooo annoying.
If the show has true comedy no noises are neccessary to convey it. And why do they need to recycle the "comedy" music all the time? Is there no reason to do something new?
This show feels like a advertisment spot with some story around without seperation compared for example to "Last Twilight" where the spot is on the end and you can skip it. Also extremly annoying.

The writing of the main couple is very shallow, giving the side couple the much more interesting story arc.

Overall the second worst show of this year which you could skip without any worries.

And why can't I vote a 0 or at least 0.5? So my 1 should be a 0.
