Strong and independent women

This list is made up of dramas where the heroine is a strong and independent woman who is able to hold her own; or, at the very least, a realistic character that acts as if she had a brain of her own – a type of character which seems to be rare nowadays. In other words, no bland or whiny heroine that gets eaten up by the typical arrogant chaebol.

These dramas  feature  female main characters. Therefore I have not included those where the 'heroine', even though meeting the criteria, has more of a supporting role. Neither have I included dramas with a prickly and quirky heroine that shouts at the male main character because, apparently, she is 'fierce and independent' but submits to his will at the end of the day.
