FEB '24 Recommendation Challenge by Xiao Zi
Calling all fellow HK//CH/TW/THAI watchers pls help me decide what to pick— I've complied a list of dramas that have caught my interest, along with some more popular ones that I should finally pick up but need the extra push to actually start.
1 title is still currently airing right now, but will get too once it's completed.
Where to watch; NETFLIX has a good selection.
(fyi; you can suggest anything different from my main picks. this is a recommendation challenge after all, but I generally give higher ratings to psychological thrillers.)
favorite dramas;
2023: Moving — impressive cinematography, soundtrack, and cast ensemble!
2022: The Victims' Game — for the love of the death tag! forever in my top stats!
what I love;
✦ true crime are my top priority
✦ (tags; serial killers, gore, vampires, zombies, cults, shamanism, supernatural power)
✦ heavy dialogue with less action, emphasizing great writing
✦ atmospheric/moody pieces with lots of emotions and morally gray characters
✦ black satire, anthologies, and/or social commentary dramas
✦ sci-fi and/or non-linear storylines (interwining past, present, and future)
what I avoid;
✦ subpar CGI work and bad makeup/hair in horror-related content
✦ ghost stories with cartoonish characters
✦ romance plots centered around miscommunication, affairs, and toxic relationships
✦ school dramas that heavily focus on bullying or hazing culture
