Favorite Korean Movies
These are some of the korean movies that I've seen and liked due to plot and good casting. No particular order.
-
1. The King’s Case Note
Korean Movie - 2017
This movie had some comedic moments and I really like the fact here, the king was his own detective with the help of his subordinate. Sort of like a Holmes and Watson pair.
-
2. Indefeso
Korean Movie - 2012
I liked the mystery this film offered.
-
3. Náufrago da Lua
Korean Movie - 2009
I love the whackiness of this movie. I've read somewhere that it was a love story but mind you, it's not romance. Love story and romance story are two different things. The main character is very well portrayed by Jung Jae-Young and Jung Ryeo Won played the perfect shut-in girl longing for a different self. These two odd balls had me cracking up during the whole movie. This story portrays, a man in despair who finds hope making noodles from scratch and a woman who's insecurity making her an anomaly learned to branch out to the first human being other than her mother. Given the movie doesn't go into detail of what made her that way but one rarely needs to know, you only need to look at her. These two people embark on a self reinvention and find, for a brief moment of subtle hello that they may have found a soulmate in each other.

4. The Silenced
Korean Movie - 2015
-
5. The New World
Korean Movie - 2013
From the same writer of I Saw The Devil, this film is a webbing story of moles and cops, and founding of a mafia empire. The plot is very intriguing. Especially the ending when everything comes to light.

6. Silenciado
Korean Movie - 2011
Based on actual events, this movie was extremely hard to watch. It's a good film. But one about the horrors of privatized orphanages. Everyone involved, except for the new teacher and the female activist, was in on it. From the abusing teachers, to the lawyers and judge who refused to indict the rapists. The fact that something like this really did happen and probably is still happening all around the world, is a fucked up reality.

7. Junto Com Os Deuses: Os Dois Mundos
Korean Movie - 2017
I enjoyed this show. All characters were very well written and portrayed. The CG effect was ok.
-
8. Duelista
Korean Movie - 2005
One of my fav. I first saw Kang Dong Won here and loved, loved him. His sad-eyes character drew me in instantly. And the fight scenes were so beautifully choreographed it felt like they were making love in the air. The OST soundtrack was so amazing as well. Beautiful movie.

9. Um Dia Difícil
Korean Movie - 2014
A good action cop movie. The premise of story is original and very entertaining.
-
10. O Homem de Lugar Nenhum
Korean Movie - 2010
Given it's a different version of Denzel Washington's Man on Fire, I still thought Won Bin did an excellent job. The action and pace of the movie are well done.
-
11. The Good, The Bad, The Weird
Korean Movie - 2008
This whackier version of Eastwood's 1966 film was as entertaining.
-
12. Eu Vi o Diabo
Korean Movie - 2010
Intense movie. Though some may cry sexism and another double standard use of female actress, I say chill. This story was in no way suppose to enlighten or degrade women. This film is what it is, a serial-killer movie. Like it or don't. I tend to take a plot for its face value so I found this to be a good film.
-
13. The Unjust
Korean Movie - 2010
Another great story from Park Hoon-Jung (I Saw The Devil, New World). The man really knows how to write good crime fiction. The story is full of political intrigue surrounding the deadline to catch a serial killer. And add a vindictive/shaddy prosecutor to that.
-
14. Over My Dead Body
Korean Movie - 2012
This movie was hilarious and a good run-around of characters with missions. Loved it.
-
15. Perfect Number
Korean Movie - 2012
I didn't read the book but saw the Japanese version to it. Both versions are good but I still prefer this korean one. To me, this version just held more intensity.
-
16. Rastros de um Sequestro
Korean Movie - 2017
You think you have the setting of the story figured out until haflway thru. Amazing plot twist there.
-
17. Flecha: A Última Arma
Korean Movie - 2011
This is one of the best historical action movie I've seen. Really worth all the praise it got in the media.
-
18. O Garoto Lobisomem
Korean Movie - 2012
This was such a sad movie. Loved the two actors in here.
-
19. Não Me Ame
Korean Movie - 2006
I loved the plot of this story. The main characters and everything. This movie version from 2006 is a mile long better than the TV drama, That Winter the Wind Blows. The drama took out the action and depth this movie had.
-
20. The Gifted Hands
Korean Movie - 2013
Kim Beom. Love him in here. Another cop movie but with a bit of supernatural gift. Good story.
-
21. The Accidental Detective
Korean Movie - 2015
Funny movie. I enjoyed watching this comical side of Kwon Sang-Woo.
-
22. The Advocate: A Missing Body
Korean Movie - 2015
Another Lee Sun-Kyun movie. I swear he really does choose entertaining action/comedy films. Some of the best might I say.
-
23. Memories of the Sword
Korean Movie - 2015
This was a beautifully visual film. The action and plot were all well written too.
-
24. Menina Do Guarda-Volume
Korean Movie - 2015
Good action. With a female protagonist and a female antagonist. Kim Hyeo-So's transformation into an old boss lady here is amazing.
-
25. O Hospedeiro
Korean Movie - 2006
This movie was one of the best of its year. Really great monster/action film with a great cast.
