Japanese Dramas & Movies

Just everything I have watched so far [updating]

Beware... may include very good or very bad dramas

** The notes will be a short review from me. {I didn't want to write a separate review because I feel like I have to go into more depth. Also, I'm a little nervous about writing one.}

  • Kakegurui

    1. Kakegurui

    Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes

    6.5

As usual for a live-action of an anime, I expected the overacting. It really fits well with some of the characters' personalities. Overall, I enjoyed the content, especially when the main character exploits her opponents' gameplay. However, some of the games were dragging.

  • Kakegurui 2

    2. Kakegurui 2

    Japanese Drama - 2019, 5 episodes

    7.0

There were only a few games this season. I wished the plot developed more, but it ended off with a great twist.

  • De Mim para Você

    3. De Mim para Você

    Japanese Movie - 2010

    8.5

When I saw it was 2 hours I was like oh my. However, when I watched it, it was a sweet love story. The girl is somewhat an outcast and the guy is liked by everyone. However, his eyes are only set on her. Too innocent to understand love, they go through your classic high school drama. The story was not too fast or too slow, but I felt like the story was not new. I would recommend watching if you like romances like this.

  • Kamikaze Girls

    4. Kamikaze Girls

    Japanese Movie - 2004

    6.5

I'll be honest, this movie was so hard to watch. I spent two days trying to get myself to finish. The storyline was ok with a great lesson about friendship. The acting had the typical Japanese live-action vibe. I don't have much more to say. If you like these kinds of dramas, you can watch it. But I strongly do not recommend this.

  • Gargle with Sweet Sake

    5. Gargle with Sweet Sake

    Japanese Movie - 2019

    6.5

A show that dives deep into the life of Yoshiko. I appreciated how the story was set up as it really helps you see what it is like to be in her shoes. However, the story was dragging. It would have been a movie that I have dropped since I am more into action, but it was something new. I would recommend if you want something different.

  • Kamen Rider Build

    7. Kamen Rider Build

    Japanese Drama - 2017, 49 episodes

    8.5

I like the plot and the mysteries. It's one of the best KR show I have watched so far (as of 2022).

  • Kamen Rider Build the Movie: Be the One

    8. Kamen Rider Build the Movie: Be the One

    Japanese Movie - 2018

    8.0
  • Kamen Rider Build NEW WORLD: Kamen Rider Cross-Z
    8.0
  • Kamen Rider Ex-Aid

    11. Kamen Rider Ex-Aid

    Japanese Drama - 2016, 45 episodes

    8.0

It was a little obvious as to how it was building up and  how characters were related to one another.

  • Kamen Rider Fourze

    12. Kamen Rider Fourze

    Japanese Drama - 2011, 48 episodes

    7.0

Has a different vibe and was all about that friendship. It has its funny moments, but I felt like some story lines fell flat.

  • Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Fourze & OOO: Movie War Mega Max

It was a great idea, but the execution was not it. I felt like some of the transitions into another kamen rider group was too rushed or choppy.

  • Survival Wedding

    14. Survival Wedding

    Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes

    8.0

Cute story, a little cheesy, but I like it.
