° if not deceived.
this is,,,,,, a very different list from what i normally have on my profile but i saw Kim Nam Gil in Through the Darkness and said "aight i need this man as the ML in a book," basically dragged one of my original work headcanons from the brink of death, and now have a WIP concept that i have no idea what to do with except look for future casting bc if this sh*t ever gets turned into a f*cking series y'all need to know who my first picks are, honestly. genre? time period? retelling or completely original plot? irrelevant, let me sort this out and then i'll get back to you

Kim Min Ha
Sul-coreano
- role: suh eun-bi.
- clan: hansan-myeon suh.
- hanja meaning:
- 瑞 — great, auspicious
- 殷 — many, flourishing
- 雨 — rain (pronounced differently from the native Korean word for rain, 비, and is here used to represent the meaning)
saw the Pachinko trailer and immediately went "!!!" bc this! this is Eun-bi! tbh from certain angles she looks like Kim Go Eun but not too much like her and that's great, i think, bc i've always had someone slightly lesser known in mind for this character? i love Go Eun but from what i've seen of Min Ha's role in Pachinko i feel like she would be a perfect fit for what i'd love to see her do with Eun-bi. (Go Eun + historical drama/sageuk when, tho?)
(edit: coming back after seeing more clips from the series and her voice? i knew they [Sunja and her immediate family] would be speaking Gyeongsang dialect but her voice? it's so husky and she sounds nothing like she looks on first glance and i f*cking love it)

Kim Nam Gil
Sul-coreano
- role: han sung-min, tentative.
- clan: cheongju han.
- hanja meaning:
- 韓 — king, kingdom
- 胜 — victory
- 民 — people, nation
i am not Catholic/have yet to watch The Fiery Priest. that being said, let me make it clear that i would go to confession for this man. probably not what the system was designed for but i will exploit it anyway just to hear his voice and (maybe) catch a glimpse of him as he leaves the confessional if i hang around long enough

Gong Yoo
Sul-coreano
- role: han sung-min, alternate actor.
is this just me living out my fantasy of seeing Gong Yoo in a proper romance that is slightly less SFW than expected bc of the [redacted] source-ish material? yes. is this also just me allowing my DILF/hot single older man equivalent weakness to influence my ability to make informed decisions about the future of my own work? yes, and you can pry it out of my cold dead f*cking hands
let's ignore that for a second (along with the knowledge that Kim Min Ha looks like Kim Go Eun/Ji Eun Tak from certain angles) and understand that if all else fails. if i never get Nam Gil as an actual fancast for this. who does not want dark! & sexy!Gong Yoo (despite the age gap)? Goblin was a f*cking masterpiece and the k-drama fans who agree did not bat an eye, in this house we will not either

Cho Seung Woo
Sul-coreano
- role: han sung-min, alternate actor.
not even going to try and defend myself with the continuation of alternate casting for HSM at this point bc it's just one hot man after another—it is highly likely that the DILF weakness is even stronger here for this role with this man than it is with Gong Yoo, which should be impossible but considering that it's Cho Seung Woo we're talking about here,,,,,,, i do not put anything past him
-
Joo Ji Hoon
Sul-coreano
- role: ryu in-tae.
- clan: chungju ryu/yu.
- hanja meaning:
- 劉 — to kill
- 認 — know, acknowledge, recognition
- 泰 — exalted
-
Steven Noh
Sul-coreano
- role: ahn nam-il.
- clan: sunheung ahn.
- hanja meaning:
- 安 — peace, peacefulness
- 男 — man
- 鎰 — a type of weight, unit/measurement
we have two cast members from Pachinko here (who are both part of the same ship with each other) and that was not intentional, honestly? i swear it wasn't, but Steven is a gem and Nam-il is our resident oracle/seer who may have been taken to a shaman twice in his life (one of them for an exorcism *cough*), has no idea wtf he's doing in his day-to-day life but is now receiving cryptic messages and migraines from God! that he did not ask for! bc he's not into that 4-dimensional sh*t
