Below is an on-going list of Dramas and Films that were produced either fully, or partly in Akita Prefecture! I'm doing my best to compile more titles, so be sure to comment if I've missed any (which I'm sure I have!)

Filmed in Nishikawa Town, Yamagata Prefecture.

2. My Blue Oni
Japanese Special - 2015, 1 episode
The drama special was an regional drama produced by NHK. The drama special was filmed in Takata-cho, Higashiokitama-gun, in Yamagata Prefecture.

Japanese Movie - 2013
Filmed throughout Yamagata Prefecture.

4. Daimajin Kanon
Japanese Drama - 2010, 26 episodes
Early scenes are filmed in Yamagata Prefecture before the protagonist moves.

Japanese Movie - 2009
Filmed partly in Yamagata Prefecture at the Tsuruoka / Shonai Movie Village, Sakata City, and Sankyo Soko.

Japanese Movie - 2008
Filmed throughout Yamagata Prefecture with some highlighted locations; Kibou Hall is the Sakata Civic Center, NK Agent Office, Noshinokan Guide (a movie theater), Tsurunoyu (onsen/public bath), Kaminoyama Concert Hall, Amarume Station, Sakata City Funeral Home.

Several locations were used in filming from Yamagata Prefecture including, Yonezawa City, Nagai City, Nanyo City, Takahata Town, Higashiokitama District, Kawanishi Town, Higashiokitama District, and Shirataka Town, Nishiokitama District.

Some locations of this drama were filmed in Yamagata City, and the Benibana Museum.

9. Cursed Village in Yudono Mountains
Japanese Movie - 1984
Filmed in Tsuruoka City including Daichibo temple, and Churenji Temple.

10. Oshin
Japanese Drama - 1983, 297 episodes
Filmed throughout Yamagata Prefecture including, Iwatani district in Nakayama Town. They also filmed at the Mogami River often.
Due to a set issue certain scenes were latter filmed at the Shonai Movie Village Open Set in Tsuruoka City. -
11. Seibu Keisatsu Part III
Japanese Drama - 1983, 70 episodes
Episodes 23 and 24 were filmed in Yamagata, with Sakata Station being mentioned.

The stories are all based off class texts from Seikyo Mucha-kum in Yamamoto Village(now Kaminoyama City) in Yamagata Prefecture. It was filmed at the Kamiya Municipal Yamamoto Junior High School.
