He directly left. We are only told his reign was short lived and he was crazy.

But, in the drama, one of the trailers shows YQY in a dragon robe but his hair is completely white.

Judging by how the story goes so far and previews from the upcoming ep (they found out YBC is two-faced and have two love threads), is it possible they will deviate from the ‘TTJ marrying YBC and making her the empress’ plot? Or is that still a possibility after the nail betrayal scene (like TTJ did that anyway just to piss YWX off?)

It is a possibility but chances are 50/50. He might in anger at YXW marry YBC after the nails.

No, TTJ never made YBC an empress.  He left her die in the jail.
