MSP 2.0????
ALRIGHT BESTIES, LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS GEMINIFOURTH SERIES BECAUSE IT’S GIVING CHAOTIC TEEN ENERGY, AND I’M HERE FOR IT. But first, can we just agree that Fourth IS Atom? Like, no notes. This kid isn’t acting; he’s literally just living his life on screen. Fourth, my goofy king, you EAT every time. Anyway, let’s break this down because I’ve got thoughts, and they’re juicy.ATOM. He’s the definition of “Oops, my bad.” This boy is so messy, clumsy, and absolutely clueless that he accidentally starts a fake situationship with Kongthap. Like, sir??? Mudmee was throwing her shot, and you’re out here giving “Sure, I’ll take the bullet instead.” And then he’s like, “Wait, why does this feel kinda right??” The drama, the chaos, the gay panic—chef’s kiss. Fourth was born for this. He’s got the comedic timing, the awkward vibes, the “someone protect him at all costs” energy.
KONGTHAP? Eh, he’s cute or whatever. Let’s be real, Gemini is playing Tinn 2.0 from My School President. Dreamy, protective, zero personality crisis—like, bro, we get it, you’re perfect. But also… give me some flavor, ya know? His whole arc is “I’m scared to tell my mom I’m gay,” and I’m over here like, BABE, THAT’S YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM? Okay, slay, but I need more spice. Still, Gemini and Fourth’s chemistry? Ugh, they serve every time, no crumbs.
NOW THE SIDE PAIRING… OMG, WHAT EVEN??? Mudmee and Half? Messy AF, but lowkey the drama I live for. Mudmee slapping Half? YES MA’AM. Girl said, “You wanna act up? I’ll act up harder.” Their whole relationship is just a series of unresolved arguments, but it’s giving “toxic but I love you anyway”. Like, I hate it, but also, I can’t look away. ALSO, can we talk about Mudmee and Atom’s friendship?? They’re such ride-or-dies, giving each other trash advice like “just wing it, bestie, what’s worse can happen?”. UM EVERYTHING???? but it works somehow. I want what they have.
THE PLOT?? IT’S A CIRCUS, AND I’M BUYING TICKETS. Starts with a misunderstanding, ends with a love story—classic rom-com vibes. Atom is whiny, yes, but it’s cute because he’s out here living his first-love fantasy. And don’t even get me started on the Cinderella play episode. ATOM AS CINDERELLA??? I was SCREAMING. Fourth was so chaotic and adorable; I had to pause just to recover.
FINAL VERDICT: Would I rewatch it? Abso-freakin-lutely. It’s the perfect comfort series with romance, friendship, and that sweet teenage cringe we secretly love. BUT HELLO??? Can someone give GeminiFourth a serious, mature series next year?? I’m so tired of the fluff. They’re giving “potential to destroy my soul,” and y’all keep giving them happy puppy vibes. Like, give me angst, drama, betrayal—something juicy, please. Anyway, I’m off to buy some Euro Cakes because product placement works on me. Byeee!

Not perfect but it's watchable
I think they wanted to copy the japanese style including some of the thai culture and elements but it was not really good??I didn't watched the Japanese adaptation nor read the manga so I absolutely don't know the story and its characters. However, it's kind of disappointing when it didn't get my attention as expected and that in a BL, I was mainly happy and cheering on the side couple which is a hetero couple! I appreciate and enjoyed a lot Half and Matmi but I also like the friendship between Atom and Matmi.
Except the ton of product placement.. And Usually I'm aware of it and I don't mind it but this one was indeed a bit too much, I still find it funny, cute and somehow entertaining (although I found myself being on my cellphone playing some games and the episode playing on the background lmao). Not the best, not perfect but it's watchable to spend on my free time.
It also tackles some youth issues which are also relatable but I still don't think I'll rewatch.
The only thing that I love the most is the OST but also the couple of Matmee and Half lol

Cute but nothing groundbreaking
Idk why the reviews are giving this so much hate lol. It’s a perfectly serviceable Thai adaption of the manga/japanese original. Is it as good as either of those? No. There were things I liked about it and things I didn’t.Kieta Hatsukoi relied on a combination of slapstick comedy mixed with heartfelt moments. This was far less slapstick and also removed some of the more dramatic moments from the manga (ie, the homophobic counselor). So it did result in it being less funny and less emotional simultaneously. Maybe it’s not fair to compare the two, but it is an adaption so it’s kind of hard not to.
I also hated that they turned the play into a musical lol y’all are talented but I can’t 😭
That being said, it’s just a sweet high school drama lol. Like perfectly mid imo. It actually follows the manga pretty closely, even the ending is pretty much identical.
If you’re just looking for something low-thought and cute, this fits the bill.

A charming Thai adaptation of a romance series, blending humor and heartfelt emotions beautifully.

Light Coming of Age
I love Kieta Hatsukoi, it's one of my top favorite shows ever, but it ends really soon into the story of the main couple. My Love Mix Up gets to explore the relationship in full and with differences that makes it stand out on it's own as an adaptation. This is in reference just to the two shows, not to do with the manga at all. Both Atom and Kongthap learn to grow as people through their relationship with each other. Their mile stones of physical intimacy like holding hands and kissing are so sweet. The parts that I dreaded the most, but turned out to be a very memorable subversions was the classmates doing the play and especially the teacher. In the Japanese version it was a homophobic teacher, but in the Thai version, the teacher turned out to be also gay and both he and his boyfriend become mentor figures. It's so moving to see an elder queer mentors help Atom and Kongthap how to navigate being queer in a world that's definitely not always friendly. The mothers being so supportive and loving to their sons is so heartening as well.I didn't like Mudmee's storyline. It's the same in both the Japanese and Thai versions. I don't think violence is funny or warranted in the context of any of the situations shown. Her strength is a funny gag, but not when it's to physically assault someone who did not do anything to deserve it.

There was so much potential
I wanted to love this series because I really like GeminiFourth, but this just fell short for me. I didn't dislike it, the cast and OST made it an enjoyable watch but I expected more after how incredible My School President was. Speaking of, there were way too many references to MSP (the only one I genuinely liked was in ep 11) and it felt like a desperate attempt to please fans by giving them a hit of nostalgia. The story felt slow and fast at the same time and Atom's clumsiness was downright cringey sometimes, which is so different to how I felt about Gun's clumsiness in MSP. I also didn't feel like I knew the characters that well. Kongthap was so one-dimensional despite being one of the leads, and I don't think I'll remember any of the side characters after a week (except my girlie Mudmee ofc). But enough of the bad, I would still recommend watching this series mainly for the cast and OST. Gemini and Fourth are obviously very talented and they deserve all the recognition they get. They're both amazing singers as well, which is evident with how good the OST is, each song is a bop and I will be listening to this OST even after I forget the entire plot of this show. Chokun and Aungpao did a great job, wish Aungpao had more screen time tho. But I'm most impressed with Pahn, this is her first series and she absolutely slayed. She was able to deliver emotional scenes in such a natural way and she made me fall in love with Mudmee. Honestly, just watch the show for Pahn, she's worth it.

A huge commercial with some story sprinkled
I'll just preface this review by saying: I treat this drama as a separate entity to the manga and the JP live adaptation. However as someone who has watched MSP and Moonlight Chicken, I do have a lot of expectation for this drama as GemFourth has proven themselves to be acting powerhouses. They still are really good actors, however the script does not give them an actual chance to shine, which is a huge failure for this series.I have a couple of things that I particularly enjoy:
1. Kongthap defending Atom against the homophobic jokes made after their stageplay.
2. The stageplay itself.
3. Kongthap and Atom scenes where they have actual heart to hearts.
4. Mudmee when she is endearingly honest.
5. Kongthap's confession episode.
6. Any emotional scenes with Atom.
7. Amazing OST.
The above were done really well, but here are my main issues with the storyline:
1. Series feels aimless - not sure how to explain this but there are no clear climax and therefore no clear resolution.
2. Pacing is off.
3. Script does not play into GemFourth's strong suits.
4. Horrible amount of product placements.
Look, I don't think this is a bad series. However this is far from being GemFourth's best. Objective rating would be a 6.5 from me but I am a sucker for mindless fluff so I have to give it a 7 for personal bias.

Lukewarm and mundane, lacks heart
1/ The basic premise – the titular love mix-up – is not new, but it is okay; it applies only to the main couple, as there is no mix-up leading to the formation of the secondary/support couple. Also: the mix-up relates only to the first 2-3 episodes, after which the series is a standard BL. This reminded me of “Hidden Agenda” – the titular agenda was of some importance for several episodes, but it was not something show-defining (which caused some complaining from the audience).2/ The plot and script are weak, uninspired and unimaginative. Problems do not end there: pacing, story progression, characters (immature, often dumb – but not in a cute way – and annoying) – all of that felt subpar.
3/ This is not a bad nor boring show, but it is not particularly interesting nor captivating either. There are very few actually emotional scenes and a handful of genuinely funny ones – the rest of the content just is there. It all felt lukewarm, especially compared to previous two projects of Gem4th: “Moonlight Chicken” and “My School President”. “My Love Mix-Up!” does not have the sweaty and gritty real-life feel of the first one nor the emotional power of the latter; it is an average BL with two of GMMTV’s biggest stars, who deserved a better show.
4/ Gemini and Fourth work with weak material and – at least for me – their efforts are the only reason to watch this show. Fourth in particular uses his talent for comedy to make the show entertaining – which also makes his character less annoying. BTW: Aungpao is in this series – and he’s criminally underused. After what he displayed in “Cooking Crush” (the guy can actually act and has a knack for comedy similar to Fourth’s) GMMTV should trust him with much more than what he got here. Instead we got Chokun (cute but bland) and Pahn in supporting roles, as a pointless secondary couple. The actual support for Gem4th came with a cameo of Chinzilla in ep. 11 – and for less than a minute we could see what this show could have been, but is not.
5/ This is a minor complaint, but still: there are too many adds and product placements in this show. Clearly GMMTV wanted to capitalize on Gem4th’s magic, but went too far. Properly done product placements in a BL – see “Bad Buddy”, GMMTV’s best BL.
6/ The soundtrack is good and – as is GMMTV standard by now – performed entirely by the cast. The opening theme song “ลบยัง” is the best example of how clever, interesting and amusing GMMTV creations can be.
Most of this show’s problems might be coming from it being an adaptation. The source material may be hot and interesting for Japanese standards, but it did not translate into a hot and interesting Thai show – my guess is because of how conservative Japan is compared to Thailand (at least when it comes to BL shows). With other words: it might be a too faithful adaptation. For Thai BL it would be good in 2016, but in 2024 it feels outdated.

A so so series
As my reference of how good GF in MC and MSP - I put a lot of expectation on this until ep 4. Then I dropped everything and just continue to watch. I really don't mind ads but the way they execute it, it's so cringe. Sound effects were kinda off sometimes. The main leads showed more bromance than BL. The second lead took my attention more. The kisses were awkward. So obvious they are not comfortable. If that's the case, a kiss on the cheeks or forehead would be better. I don't know why they incorporate some MSP part to this. I'm not against on it, but this is remake/adaptation not a sequel. Gemini's acting is less convincing and Fourth looks trying hard. Overall the series is cute but unremarkable. Please take them away from high school plot because I won't buy it anymore. G4 have great potential - I hope their talent won't be wasted to a mediocre series. They deserve better BL drama. For now 5/10.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

-LAS REFERENCIAS A MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT.

SO WORTH IT TO WATCHED, ITS SO FUN AND CUTE! THE ACTING IS ON TOP!
Every episodes is worth watching. Those who watched the Jo version and have read the manga can still watched the Thai adaptation because it still had differences because of LANGUAGE, CULTURE, ACTORS AND THE AMOUNT they covered from the manga so you can't really tell what's going to happen in the next episodes. I'm having fun watching it, you guys should give it a chance. Better yet, leave a good impression for the show.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
