Pretty mid given the first season was so impressive...BUT, I will say I did not mind the change of actress as much as I thought I would. There was definitely a solid reason for that, I just wasn't a fan of that bit of plot, also I didn't think the ML and FL vibed as well this season. However, the CGI and visual aspect was not mid at all-- very nice graphics!!

The story: exhausting. I felt like the more layers that were added to the plot, the more I was wishing for the end (and it was only 10 episodes sooo). I was not as engaged in the plot as I was in the first season, I think largely because of Jin Mu...same dude, doing the same stuff, and every evil scheme he came up with was such a reach. Not his biggest fan, really hope he stays dead <3

My *biggest* gripe with the whole thing was that Naksu never got her time to shine!! Her first scene in season 1 was so cool, it captured me immediately and had me waiting for her return the entire season and this season...but it never happens :( I thought for sure we would see Naksu and Jang Uk vs fire bird! And the end of this season hinted at that she could potentially train again to use her powers but like....now we have to wait for a season 3?! Which is super unlikely, so that sucks. :'(

Good Enough

Korean Drama " Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow " is the second season of the hit drama that infuses fantasy, martial arts, and romance.

The second season takes a new turn on the characters, turning the tables on who the main lead, and shifting his personality from a carefree, arrogant aristocrat to a dark, cold one who is all business. The trick with the female lead was nicely handled, in addition, and the main couple's relationship was enjoyable to watch, as they organically started getting closer and closer.

However, when it comes to the political aspect of the drama, this season didn't have much to offer. Some nice battles spiced things up, and they were indeed masterfully presented, proving once again that the team behind the CGI worked hard to create a realistic result. On the other hand, the twists weren't that original and the drama was predictable.

Finally, the performances were all enjoyable from everyone in the cast.

So, overall, seven out of ten.

SEASON 2 IS BETTER IN EVERY WAY

I done get it, how most of the people here are giving bad reviews to this masterpiece of a season. This new actress is better in every way and I loved the chemistry between Jang uk and her way better than the chemistry between Jang uk and Mudoek....
The main antagonist Jin mu had a better role here than the season1, overall this season is better in every way...It felt really good to see how Jang uk has become the most powerful mage here...
Sometimes the reviews of this site confuse me, people only focus on the romance here instead of the entire story and they give their biased ludicrous opinion based on that only...
It's very misleading for new kdrama watchers like me to get into a series like this...
So my advice to the people who will be reading this review of mine- "Ignore the negative reviews here and continue watching the series, done drop it just after watching the season 1"

O pássaro de fogo e a esperança

O ponto de partida da nova temporada, o possível grande "vilão" do arco.

Se pensarmos bem um pássaro de fogo também poderia se assemelhar a uma fênix, e o que seria uma fênix se não um sinal de esperança. O pássaro místico que ressurge das cinzas, o suposto fim da morte mas que na verdade é apenas um recomeço.

Deste ponto que podemos resumir essa temporada.

O Jang Uk literalmente morreu e renasceu,  a própria suprasitada fênix, e foi encontrando em cada passo um motivo de esperança. No amor de mãe da Criada Kim, na relação de irmandade com o Dang gu e o Seo Yul, o apoio do Park Jin, a relação controversa com o Príncipe Herdeiro. E claro a redescoberta do amor com a Jin Buyeon, ou a versão clean da Naksu.

E temos assim a contrapartida da história da Naksu, que já foi a filha Cho Yeong, a assassina Naksu, a criada Mudeok, e agora a herdeira e grande sacerdotisa Jin Buyeon. Várias personas mas apenas uma personalidade, apenas um destino. E só quando ela "renasceu" das cinzas (literalmente depois de virar pedra) pode ter uma vida seguindo passo a passo por si mesma, redescobrindo-se em uma folha em branco

Duas reflexões demonstraram bem a lição do dorama:

"Quem você salvaria se duas pessoas estivessem se afogando? Não pense muito. As duas. Nunca deve se abandonar alguém que você ama."

"Seu braseiro inútil se queimou até virar cinzas. Vou espalha-las no vento, e você pode congelar e morrer."

Assim, nunca abandonar e nunca subestimar aqueles que te amam incondicionalmente, o seu poder é mante-los sempre por perto. Já que no fim, "Iluminamos a vida um do outro e abraçamos as sombras que foram surgindo." ~~crying

E pra que fique marcado, essa parte 2 foi muito mais intensa pra mim que a parte 1. Pessoalmente, minha preferida.

Las segundas partes nunca fueron buenas

Me da pena que una serie que tiene una historia tan buena , la segunda parte de tanta pena y más con unos actores protagonistas tan buenos.....
Lee Jae Wook fue un descubrimiento en la primera parte, aqui sin embargo pese a la calidad de su actuación se pasa todo el rato bebiendo y matando aquellos que han intercambiado almas, le limitan mucho la actuación. La historia de estar 'en duelo' pero que de repente cambia cuando tiene que salvar a Jin Bu Yeon de la prisión que le ha hecho su madre cuando en la primera temporada le daba igual todo el tema se me hace poco creible.Y es que encima se casa con ella y se enamora de ella cuando se ve que esta super enamorado de Naksu....
Go Youn Jung una maravilla de actriz, se puede ve en Death's Game, pero aquí no. Me da rabia porque me gustaba mas esta actriz que la protagonista de la primera parte. Sin embargo, aquí la hacen interpretar una Naksu/ Jin Bu Yeon indefensa y sinceramente en algunos momentos tonta.
El personaje de Jin Mu en la primera parte es maravilloso pero aquí su historia es unicamente a quién me tengo que arrimar para sobrevivir, hubiera preferido que le hubieran dejado un mejor final muriendo en Gwido.
Lo mejor de esta temporada es Yul y toda la escena para quitar el parasito , aunque me hubiera gustado que hubiesen explorado mas todo lo que hizo Soi.

De verdad lo mejor de esta temporada es el Principe y la tortuga.
Para mi alchemy of souls debería haberse quedado en la primera temporada.

superbe !

Cette saison est là aussi magnifique. Le dernier épisode est rempli d'effets spéciaux tous plus beaux les uns que les autres !
On s'habitue assez vite au changement de l'actrice principale, même si je préférais légèrement la précédente.
Sur cette saison il y a Do Sang Woo qui est absolument parfait, le changement dans son personnage est stupéfiant.
J'ai évidemment aimé le magnifique happy ending, avec des bébés !
L'intrigue est bien construite, sans erreurs, avec beaucoup de surprises.
Et toujours ces acteurs excellents, notamment Lee Jae Wook qui m'a vraiment enchantée sur ces 2 saisons.

Lee Jae Wook & Go Youn Jung has a great chemistry.

I liked it. But my biggest complaint is they should've shown Jang Uk & Jin Bu Yeon more screen time in the last few minutes. I wanted more stories about them in the end & also how they cured Jin Bu Yeon getting wild.

At first, I thought they'd not show flashbacks of Mu Doek with Jang Uk whenever he was heartbroken or missing him. Thank God they started showing Mu Deok flashbacks from Season 1.

Jang Uk is a lot more mature this season he still has humor, but also has arrogance, which is for those who deserve it. He has a lot of grief, hate & rage within himself. His looks changed this season. He wears black & has short hair. He looks smoking hot. I just loved seeing him using power & going into killer mode.

Jang Uk never forgot about Mu Deok. He always remembered her. In a review someone said that he forgot about her & quickly fell in love with Jin Bu Yeon but that’s not true. Firstly, it’s a 10-episode series. They need to show his heartbreak as well as falling for her in a short period of time. Maybe that is why people think he forgot about her & fell in love quickly.

Jin Bu Yeon is changed because you need to remember that she was captivated in a room for 3 years. She is bound to be depressed & thinks that no one loves her, which may lead to her change. If she also starts acting the same way the FL of S1 did, then you will all be blaming her for copying. I think it was refreshing. She didn't try to do the same thing which the S1 FL did. I liked how the memory loss part when so long. It would've been better if she remembered evrything in the first few episodes.

History repeats itself of not being able to climb the bridge. ??

Laughed when Park Jin is jealous of Jang Uk because he is always the first priority of Maidservant Kim.

Loved it when Jang Uk said that “Not a single person will be able to walk out of here alive”. Uff The way he killed everyone, made everyone fear him.

I think I'm the only one who didn't like Crown Price. He is a kind-hearted person but foolish. He got easily manipulated by Jin Mu. He is someone craving power, but in the end, he realizes that he is wrong.

Review for Part 1 and 2 together

Alchemy of Souls Part 1 and 2 are spectacular productions. This is a character driven fantasy Korean drama that has very well choreograph action scenes, conspiracy galore, great CGI’s, beautiful costumes, comedy, and a story of steadfast love and support from the leading couple as well as the friendship among the young generation of mages. The chemistry among the main characters is fantastic as well as the dynamics of the older mages which many times deliver many comedic moments. Alchemy of Souls has an original story line from the famous Hong sisters with many twists and turns, modern styles (costumes and hairstyles), references to pop culture, and a great OST. The entire drama would’ve have been better if season 2 was integrated with season 1 creating just one drama and viewers would not have been disappointed with some changes. The leading lady on season 2 did very well bringing her character to life as she was Naksu in the beginning of season 1, which I particularly agree with bringing her back with her own semblance, but the amnesia plot weakened her magnificent warrior aura. The second season is more about Uk and Naksu’s love story. Overall, even though this drama has n blend of genres (action, mystery, revenge, comedy,…), the drama is about Uk and Naksu’s relationship as Master and Pupil that evolves into a beautiful love story among the mayhem of a fantastical plot and the antagonists underhanded tactics to bring them down. This drama (Part 1 and 2) is very entertaining, enjoy it!

Una de las mejores

Si dudas creo que es una de las mejores series que ví y habló por toda la serie (temp 1 y 2). Me sorprendió mucho que la amara tanto y me mire la serie siendo 30 caps en general, no soy de mirar series de época o mágicas pero AOS sin dudas captó toda mi atención y amor. Cómo siguieron la historia sin dudas lo amé, ni hablar de como siguen su vida todos los personajes en esta s2 después de ese final en la s1. Las actuaciones son un 10 para todos siento que no me imagino a otros actores/actrices trabajando en esto, la producción tiene un 10 obviamente, la música no llega al 10 porque me quedé con ganas de escuchar más ost pero los que hay son un 10 enorme y bien ganado. El humor y la acción siguen vigentes como en la s1, el odio y el amor por ciertos personajes también, la montaña rusa de emociones está peor. El amor de la pareja principal atraviesa la pantalla, te querés unir a su lucha y ayudarlos para que de una vez por todas puedan estar juntos y ser felices sin ningún obstáculo, sufrí con ellos, lloré con ellos, reí con ellos, amé con ellos. El cómo se conocen de nuevo después de 3 años, sin saber quiénes son y no llevándose para nada bien pero de todas maneras con el tiempo vuelven a enamorarse porque es su destino y sus almas son las que están destinadas a estar juntas, lo ame mucho. El significado del título en esta temporada me encantó y que lo explicarán en la serie más todavía :')
La química entre Jaewook y Younjung es de otro planeta, de verdad ame mucho ver cómo se completan porque literal sentías que estabas viendo a una pareja de verdad en sus altos y bajos. Ni hablar de la amistad y confianza que se formó en todo el cast. Ese final me hizo sufrir dejándome cómo payasa pero estoy muy contenta.

Não tão boa quanto a segunda temporada, mas ainda assim tem seu valor

Apesar de eu ter um carinho enorme pelos personagens, universo e atores envolvidos nesse k-drama, ainda acho que eles poderiam ter finalizado a história em apenas uma temporada.

O que mais me irritou nessa temporada é o fato de que a história parecia não andar, não estou reclamando dos momentos fofos e engraçados que essa temporada nos proporcionou, mas ainda assim senti falta de um desenvolvimento maior na história, assim como foi feito nos primeiros episódios da primeira temporada, ademais o fato de o Uk nunca descobrir que a Naksu era a Naksu, me irritava muito, chegou um momento que praticamente metade das pessoas que estavam ao redor dele já sabiam, mas ele ainda estava em dúvida. Acho que o ideal era ele descobrir a verdadeira identidade dela até o episódio 4.

A sensação que fica, apesar da história ter um final satisfatório e ser empolgante de se acompanhar, é a de que eles só fizeram essa segunda temporada, pois viram a possibilidade de lucrar mais.

P.S.: A química entre a Go Yoon-jung e o Lee Jae-wook foi maravilhosa, e tenho a sensação que se não fosse pela química deles a história não se sustentaria, pois ficou muito repetitiva nesta temporada.
Também acho que o Príncipe Herdeiro merecia um final melhor, espero que meu bichinho ache alguém que ame ele e os dois cuidem da tartaruguinha juntos.

PERFEITO

Que temporada PERFEITA!! Achei que não ia ter um único momento de alegria e felicidade tranquilo entre esses casais, no geral.
A produção está impecável, o roteiro MARAVILHOSO, as músicas... tão lindas e perfeitas quanto antes (adicionei todas as músicas na playlist), as cenas de ação lindas lindas lindas (chorei com a parte do ovo do dragão), o plot... meu deusssss o que foi aquilo???? tudo foi maravilhosa demais.
Amei as referências entre esses personagens nessa segunda parte. As lembranças do primeiro encontro deles na primeira parte sendo repetido novamente... lindo lindo lindo. A parte da naksu e da troca de corpos foi algo confuso no início, mas conforme os episódios foram se passando e a gente foi vendo mais como que isso aconteceu e ficou fácil entender o que rolou.
Amei a evolução desses personagens. Amei a mudança de visual de uns, chorei com a de outros. Fiquei feliz com a morte de uns personagens ai, chorei com a morte de outros.
Sério! Vai ser difícil demais algum dorama me surpreender e me prender tanto quanto alquimia conseguiu fazer. Recomendo horrores.

Could have been better

It seems like they stretched the story a little more which wasn't needed at all this could have been a very peaceful story but the made it was by adding so many twist.
And US many people are saying that The Ml loved the New FL so he is kind of a playboy or something but I personally think that as the new female lead wanted to protect him that's why he is diff forwarded into their relationship some things where really useless and logic less in their relationship obviously but the story could have been more better
And about the other characters their life story also would have been more better.
