Una grata sorpresa

Este drama te plantea la vida de una celebridad mediante las redes sociales, sus inicios, conflictos y todo sobre este mundo así que yo ya no podría pedir más.

Me ha encantado como han llevado esta historia y sobre todo escogiendo a un buen reparto. El tema de los haters es tan real, es algo que vemos hoy día y que a veces obviamos. Esa obsesión por ser reconocido por un famoso, te conteste en sus directos, etcétera. Todo esto lo vemos con los pensamientos que tiene la protagonista, Seo Ari, no podrían ser más reales y me encanta que ella misma no se avergüence de decirlos. Los "Lacayos" realmente existen y es increíble como alguien que no aporta nada, como son los influencers, tienen ese poder con sus seguidores.

Las mentiras, engaños, montajes que perfectamente son una verdad para ganar fama y más dinero convirtiendo que en ese mundo no hay verdaderas amistades y siempre hay una gran competición entre ellos.

Ha sido completamente una locura. Hasta me ha encantado la química que tiene Ari con su interés amoroso, aunque este drama para nada se refleja en un romance. Ellos han creado en mí una necesidad y es que estoy deseando verlos juntos en algún drama romántico.

En conclusión, una serie corta, de poca duración, con plot twist y que vas a estar enganchado todo un día o un fin de semana, es Celebrity.

Best 2023 Netflix Series So Far

A good serie that would play with you mind and blow it. It was so addictive that I couldn't watch one episode only! The actors did the roles of their lives and don't forget the amazing work of the screenwriter. Simply, I think this is the best project of Netflix so far. If you want intrigue, suspense and plot twists, you need to watch Celebrity. Even the romance was good and it wasn't the main part. My praises to Kang Min Hyuk because I'm sure I'm going to watch every single of his drama! Also, Park Gyu Young did the acting of her life. If she doesn't win a award for this show, people don't know what good acting is.

Were You Not Entertained??

Watched it on a whim. I had it on my list on Netflix for a while and just had never been in the mood for it but then the other day I was just craving K-Dramas so I decided to watch it. I was watching a C-Drama I had paused for a while but then just needed to watch a K-drama for whatever reason and this helped to scratch the itch a little. Now I want to watch more K-dramas lol.

I liked it. It kept me captivated enough to finish it in 2 days. Would have been quicker but I had to work lol.

The acting was a bit meh at times but not enough to ruin the story. I'm assuming that is what they were looking for for certain characters, a monotonous complicity with their lives.

I think the FL's character was pretty boring when she wasn't doing anything. It was weird like they would say she knows how to get people's attention and we'd see her smiling and laughing with random people but then in the scenes that drive the story forward, she seems to lack personality. I was thinking maybe they wanted you to not be able to guess what she was going to do next so she would just look blank at times, but I don't know.

My favorite part was definitely those crumbs of romance they threw to us. That man said "I like you, please like me back" and you expect me to not be sat for their scenes?? This rich, successful, unproblematic man who only wanted to protect the FL, you want me to lie and say it was lackluster because of the lack of facial expressions??? I will not stand for this slander lol. But seriously, I love Kang Min Hyuk. He was a supporting character in a few of my first K-dramas so I can't hate him. He's too adorable and I was so surprised to see him in this show. Let alone as the ML.

But honestly, I judge TV Shows and movies based on how much I like them. I am not someone who looks for an underlying message or needs some kind of huge complicated plot to be satisfied. I just watch things for their entertainment value. Was it fun? Did I get bored? Are the FL and ML characters I can empathize with? I really only binge-watch or read when the thing I am watching or reading gets me hooked to the point where I can't put it down. When a show constantly makes me want to keep going and finish it in one sitting, that's enough for me.

K-Dramas have been disappointing for a while now and while this was not a show focused on romance (my favorite genre) it was a very fun world to dive into. I would recommend this, it's short and sweet.

Very Enlightening

I’ve read some of the negative reviews and I guess I didn’t see what they saw.

I was very impressed with the FL from start to finish. She showed all the emotions, all the attitude, all the despair, all the determination, never came across as too over the top, ever. Loved her.

Some characters were a little much at times, but those behaviors fit those characters.

I enjoyed the story, though it was often quite disheartening, and really enjoyed the well executed plot twists. Could have had a slightly better ending, but I’ve endured much worse ones - this was fine.

I would recommend and would watch again.

#O_mundo_em_que_vivemos

Que dorama sensacional!!!!
Uma história incrível que te prende do começo ao fim. Uma crítica as redes sociais e o cyber bullying.
A atuação de todos os atores foram impecáveis, o roteiro, direção de imagem, música foi tudo incrível.
A gente assiste na ansiedade de ver o que a protagonista está passando e com o que ainda vai acontecer, já que tudo o que acontece é bem imprevisível.
Gostei bastante da história, da protagonista que vai do "lixo ao luxo" e tenta não perder sua dignidade no mundo da fama, em que tudo é manipulado.
Recomendo demaaaaais.

Mais ou menos...

Se esse drama fosse um café, seria um café morno.

Começou com uma premissa interessante: falar sobre a vida nada discreta dos influencers ("celebridades"). Infelizmente, a medida que o drama progride, o potencial aparenta ser desperdiçado.

Apesar da atuação ser excelente, algumas cenas foram caricatas demais, o que fez que os personagens não tivessem muita profundidade.

Ainda sim, é um bom drama para assistir no tempo livre: Traz uma reflexão interessante, mesmo que não bem executada, sobre o lado falso da internet e sobre os haters.

Por fim, um salve para meu personagem preferido, JoonKyung. CEO podre de rico e egocêntrico que é obcecado pela protagonista pobre.
De todos os clichês desse drama, você foi o meu favorito.

I actually enjoyed this one.

Started stronger that it ended but still was very good.

I think the craziness of the social media bullying and how fast opinions of people and fandom changes in Korea only makes sense if you actually follow a bit of that world. If you haven't experienced how toxic those fanatics are, you will think this series is just exaggerating a lot, but trust me, it isn't. In Korea, fandoms have ended whole careers just because their favorite idol have started a relationship with someone they didn't like or they have had rumors or bullying in school, it's a CRAZY conservative Society, and they act like mobs on social media.

So basically this super thrilling and fast paced drama depicts exactly this social media world in korea, where your can have everything given to you, or taken from you immediately, because unfortunately in these societies it doesn't really matter how talented you are, its all about how much you are liked.

I love the female lead, she has such feisty personality, she is so smart and she won't ever compromise her values. I also love her as actress, I absolutely love all her dramas, ( cant wait for sweet home 2!) and the tension and crazy electrifying attraction she has with the male lead in this drama is just ridiculous, without even speaking. Love them!!

I won't give it a 10 because towards the end they did a couple on nonsensical things that were a bit dumb with the mum and the best friend, I think it could have been a more polished and smart turn in that sense.

Influencer?

No inicio, quando é retratado a vida fácil de uma influencer, me fez querer ser também, mas conforme vai mostrando como que cada uma delas chegou a esse resultado, eu desisti haha. A trama muito bem desenvolvida, me fez querer continuar assistindo para saber a que fim daria aquilo e amei!
Sobre o que a Seo Ri fala de se apegar (ser parasita) a um famoso para se tornar famoso, é tão real! Vi vários atuais influencers se tornarem famosos a custas de outros...
Não imagino que o romance da Seo Ri com o Joon Kyung seja algo duradouro, sendo que parece que ele ainda tem sentimentos por Shi Hyun. Mas estou confiante de uma 2 temporada! Ainda mais com aquele final!

I social sono pericolosi nelle mani sbagliate!

Se avete bisogno di un Drama diverso dal solito, pieno di colpi di scena e senza cliché, questo fa decisamente al caso vostro. Celebrity è un viaggio tra menzogne, cattiverie, subdoli piani e vendette.
La storia è ricca di colpi di scena, lineare e raccontata come un lungo flashback di avvenimenti accaduti prima di quello principale. Nulla è lasciato al caso, tutto ha un suo perché e piano piano ogni cosa viene rivelata. Questo Drama può essere classificato come thriller, crime e mistery.
La protagonista è stata meravigliosa, così come il protagonista che per una volta è ben diverso dai soliti protagonisti dei Drama coreani.
Nel complesso quindi è un Drama assolutamente da vedere.

Celebrity chronicles the journey of Seo A-ri (played by Park Gyu-young), who was born rich but is left to do part-time jobs after the family hits rock bottom. From not being on Instagram to becoming the numero uno ‘e-celeb,’ Seo A-ri’s brush with success and the horrors of it is what makes 'Celebrity' such an intriguing watch.

The drama exposes that it is no secret that artificial intelligence and the virtual world are quickly dominating our lives, and will soon become the absolute reality for many, and the consequences that comes with it. Celebrity’s' screenplay and writing are refreshing and honest. You can see that the writer is not taking a stand or lecturing you on how social media can become a horror story if you don't set boundaries. Instead, it tells you the very benefits of the platform which is not without its faults. The world can be condescending and conniving without any set rules. But your journey is a result of the choices you make. Right or wrong, is for you to choose.

Apart from standout performance by Park Gyu-young, the rest of the characters were perfectly blended as well. The climax of the show is very fast paced, with all the pieces suddenly solving the puzzle but it was thrilling nevertheless.

'13 Reasons Why With a Happy Ending + Revenge Twist'

Leaving a tape after s*cide. That's my warning to watching this.
But I thought, "I survived that, at least this time I can remind myself."
I knew that was going to happen so the happy ending is worth giving some thoughts to.
The word celebrity... For me, has always been, "people who are being celebrated". But there are celebrities who are merely celebrating their alter egoes. Everyone is a celebrity to people who celebrates them. I feel sad and pity the times we are not celebrated but only up until the choice of bad action have been yet to be made. This drama pointed that out.
IU's song "Celebrity" reminded me of this. So I had to watch it despite my aforementioned concerns. I, too, have been a fan. I, too, celebrated the work of these celebrities. I, too, despised them. I, too, was probably groomed on the internet to spread messages of hate on some people.
Artificial Intelligence. Yes. That too. I thought the bbb account was portrayed like an AI. Then they actually added AI to the script. Seeing that the premise is technology. Ngl, I got goosebumps everytime something happens on their feed. It really has achieved its genre, thrilling.
That so called society reminded me of the bullies in The Glory. I love the revenge plot on this one at the very end. It's not like TG where it's a revenge from the very beginning. Like I said, it's storytelling of the why's she did that to herself in the beginning and then the twist is you know.
Imbalance. I wish there were more happy scenes in this drama.
It was all too thrilling. And I did guessed some things right. The rich guy stuff especially. He wasn't there much but he got most/all the brunt. I got through the episodes saying "trigger warning: power imbalance".
I know this is netflix and so expected there were real brands mentioned. In dramas, there were always brands, but they could've chosen better brands that could add to the thrill...and not take out much screen time against the character's developments.
Lastly, cheap therapy is portrayed here. Really? Retail therapy? Spa therapy? But not really shedding light on real therapy? Instead, portrayed some mean people - adults who doesn't get real therapy, without mentioning real therapy. What I liked about The Glory so much is that she considered just going for therapy. Both the main leads did. It was such a heavy topic on that one. But not on this one.
To end, if you like thrills, you might consider this but if you can't handle what I've mentioned, I think there are better dramas to watch for you than this one, if not, please be advised.
