first does not mean best, and that's fine
I'm watching GAP for the first time in 2024, with two Idol Factory GLs in the pipeline (one in partnership with the Thai government), 23.5 airing on GMMTV, and a FreenBecky movie about to hit cinemas--not even to mention the other GL projects from smaller companies cropping up every day. And I think it's important to acknowledge that all of this owes something to GAP, even if GAP isn't very good. The first doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to be made. It's got to be fun and get people excited, and I think GAP did that well. Even though this will never be a favorite for me, I still very much respect the effort and look forward to what this team has coming up next.-The Full Review-
STORY:
It's not controversial to say that GAP has... a lot going on. And most of it questionable at best. It's not that it's "unhealthy" or "toxic" or anything, I like a good dark romance just fine. But this story was sloppy and didn't bother to earn most of it's emotional moments. Sam and Mon rarely talked about anything real and it was difficult to see what they even found to love in each other. The back third of the show in particular continually seesaws on the character development, leaving everyone rather pale and two-dimensional. It's a real shame.
That said, the script managed to scrape together some fun scenes. Sam and Mon's friends and coworkers are always a delight, injecting much needed humor and life into the story. Sam and Mon also excel when they are funny and most of their early flirtation is genuinely enjoyable to watch. Most of the characters, at least the ones who are not evil, are charming and loveable and kept me going through the slog of some of the worst of the melodrama. Enough, at least, to convince me to give the author a second chance.
ACTING:
The acting here... isn't great, but I'm not sure how much of that is a result of the shaky story versus the actors skills. Both of the lead actresses had some really lovely moments in their acting... and some really stiff/awkward scenes. With such inconsistent storytelling, I imagine it was difficult to craft a comprehensive character. That said, while some of this was due to the style/tone of the story, it was not often balanced by enough true connection to make the jokes land well. The ensemble was particularly weak, with the exception of Looknam and Heng.
Despite this, I did enjoy the chemistry that Becky and Freen created. Even at their stiffest and most intolerable character moments, they played off each other well and had a believable attraction. In their best moments, it was enough to truly start getting excited about future projects with better scripts and productions. I think it's very likely that one day this show is looked on fondly as the fumbling first starts of a young cast and production company that grows into something much better.
PRODUCTION:
On one hand, I really loved so many of the costuming choices. They were insane, but they were really fun and sold the type of story being told here. The wedding outfits alone were so good we almost forgave the episode for all it's previous sins. While some of the locations have been used to death already (how many times must someone cry about their engagement on the death stairs lol?), the production design and lighting was decently good, if sometimes a little random.
What really was Bizarre was the musical choices. I'm not quite sure why they chose to reuse themes the way they did, but it was not an effective way to create an emotional response. At the very least, they should have used different versions of the same songs to differentiate between tension, sadness, and sex scenes. It was all a little ridiculous. Along with the frequent fumbles in sound quality and visible mic packs... sound department has a lot to answer for here.
INTIMACY:
For the positives: I do enjoy that the girls didn't get doomed to hair braiding and were allowed to be sexual beings. I think that Becky and Freen served a really excellent performance that expressed true desire in their sex scenes--I don't think any of the weirdness is their fault. However, the scenes were blocked.... oddly! I'm not sure what SCOY looks like, but coming to GAP from having watched The Sign, it's odd how abbreviated their sex scenes are and how frequently they are... let's say taking turns? Instead of having a moment of mutual pleasure.
I don't care what other reviews say about "the male gaze" and "fetishizing" because it's all stupid! I am a lesbian, GL is *for* sapphics. I want GL to be treated equally and to be allowed to have as much much hot, weird, kinky, awkward, and unfounded sex as they want. GAP was a great step in the right direction, but it's still holding back. QL has a long way to go in this regard.
In all, I am not upset that I watched GAP, but I probably won't rewatch it any time soon. I think it's worth watching because of the history it brings, and I think it's worth watching because it can be fun and Becky and Freen are genuinely quite good. But I am also not going to pretend that I am satisfied with this series or even particularly enjoyed it. It's a start, and I'm looking to see what comes next.

Very good girl love story. One of the best gl
I would recommend. very good. Love becky acting with Mon. Work very well and also freen.Very nice plot and story line and the actors are amazing. I love how the story is about A girl closing the gap between them. Which strengthens their relationship also how they met each other again after a long time period. Even though they have an age gap the still loved each other and don’t care about the gap between them which make them stronger. I would wish the Drama/series will be a little longer. But over all 10/10. You should definitely watch it.

Must Watch

GL Representation
This series is a great starting series for anyone interested in GL. I'm glad we're finally getting more wlw relationships on screen. This story is quite a cliché but does it in a gay way ( which I love). There are several cute scenes within the show and the show can get very serious at certain times ( especially near the end of the series). This show definitely has a realistic undertone to it regarding things like how other people view wlw relationships and how older and more traditional people view LGBTQ+. I was satisfied with how it ended and how the whole show went. It may be cheesy and a bit predictable but representation is representation. a good start for wlw series
although the couple's chemistry was nice, there was nothing really captivating or groundbreaking about the scenario. on the contrary, it was very cliche with the arrogant boss and hardworking employee plot. as episodes passed, I felt like it got more and more boring. the episodes with CherRisa were nice. i was also looking forward to seeing some TeeYuki scenes, but whatever we got is fine too lol. overall, the series was nothing special; however, i don't want to be too harsh on this series as it is the first Thai gl. Best GL story ever !!
No words can describe how good this series are . The story tell. The actor/actress they were awesome . I never write review on others series/drama or whatsoever . But this GL story , it just really.really made my day brighter than ever. Sam and mon effect was really outstanding , they really good at it . Mind blowing GL series ever !! Even the series not finished yet, i hope to see freen n becky on the other series too. And last but least , please make this kind of GL series more, dont stop . GL é maravilhoso eu acompanhei as gravações do início ao fim pelos storys, e ver tudo o que a série se tornou me deixa muito orgulhosa.Elas trabalharam muito duro nesse GL, trabalharam doentes, pé machucado e etc... então peço que não julgue o conteúdo sem primeiro conhecer a série e elas, elas também são uns amorzinhos.

must watch series 2023
what a great job and artwork! especially for Sarocha Freen & Rebecca Armstrong, they successfully portrayed the character to live. the beautiful storyline are able to tells the world that love is belong to everyone. no matter what gender, age gap and social status, love is love. and love could easily turn you to a better version of yourself. these actresses have a very strong chemistry that cannot be describe within a word, their capability of showing each other character emotion is something that we should appreciate the most. good job for the first GL series in thai IDF, looking forward for them (freenbecky) to another challenging project together. surely they turns everyone lives into pink! :)Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Lighthearted content with attractive main leads
Admittedly I start watching this because the two leads are attractive and even from trailer alone they have palpable chemistry.However as I watch the series further, other aspects of the show such as ensemble/supporting cast, direction, music/sound, lighting were all actually really good.
In terms of story, it does play into the rather typical trope of mean boss - gullible intern quite a bit. Also the character Khun Sam is just frustrating and difficult to understand at time. But I guess that's also the attraction to this show, how to delve deeper into the character and symphatise or at least understand them more.
For acting, there's not any negatively jarring moments. But there are a few qualms I have about it. I feel Khun Sam could be less stoic, especially when she is trying to show 'love', sometimes her delivery when she's trying to profess love is a bit rough around the edges. For character Mon I also would like it more if her crying scenes to be less dramatised I guess. But in general these little gruntles doesn't take away from the enjoyment.
In general, a surprisngly nice find on Youtube with characters that are fun to watch and romance that is believable due to the good chemistry the 2 leads show.

GAP is freaking brilliant
After watch 8 episodes now and have time to reflect on the incredible work both leading actresses have done or are doing with this series and storyline I can only ask for a season 2 please. The storyline is just beautiful and each scene brilliantly put together and both Freen and Becky are just doing such beautiful work, their chemistry is unexplainable and so genuine that you can convey each emotion they are displaying in including in their results love scene that was just tastefully done… it only demonstrates that you don’t need nudity to show a beautiful couple making love for the first time. Just beautifully done. This duo has put GL on the map and I hope we are able to continue witnessing them as a couple going further in the future working on more GL stories.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Mediocre At Best
I was soooo looking forward to watching this because I've been wanting a good GL to watch and I had heard so much about it! Unfortunately, it was extremely mediocre. The entire plot was predictable, the characters were only sometimes likeable, and every conflict could have been resolved with a single conversation.This was not a queer story. Yes, it had queer women as the main characters, but this exact storyline could have been done as a straight or BL romance. I wished the writers and directors focused more on the relationship dynamic between the two women and less on silly arranged marriage plotlines.
