The story is fantastic, however, if you examine it closely there are some hole with the legal stuff. Knowing that it does not take from the story at all. It's just such a heartfelt story that has you cry (a lot).
The casting was perfect I love the lead actors, however, I admit there were times that I was upset with the heroine.
The music selection was perfect, it complimented the story perfectly.
I consider this one of the best that I have seen and would most definitely watch it again.
Overall, this drama is just awesome and one would really be missing out if they didnt watch.

all i can say is, wow. just. wow. this drama was just a breath of air from start to end. the plot was new and fresh, and they made law look so....interesting. i initially had my reservations about the casting, especially the two main leads because of their age difference but i was proven wrong. their chemistry was top-notch. although the drama didn't have as many typical romantic scenes as a korean drama should (i am a major sucker for that) the romance was still worth the watch. the drama had a really strong theme which carried on throughout the show i.e voices, and how every single person out there is important and worthy enough to be heard by someone.
drama had a 2-episode extension from 16 to 18. i usually hate extensions because there will be an irrelevant plot twist/draggy storyline and although i initially thought the extension storyline was redundant, i realised how important it was. i loved the ending, it was so clean and well organized (unlike NICE GUY sorry still bitter, wtf worst shit ever) all of the stories finally came together and were tied up into one neat little package worthy of an ending.
random qn: do you know what the worst feeling in the world is? it's not hate, or anger, or sadness. it's loneliness. not having anyone by your side, not having anyone who cares. i never thought i would've pitied such a grossly dehumanized satan spawn in the form of the drama's antagonist but towards the end i did, because everyone deserves to be listened to.....just goes to show how much i took away from this drama.
"don't waste your life hating someone, because even life itself is not long enough to love someone"
i really like dramas that make me ponder and think, long after the credits have rolled. rewatch value is at 6 because while it is a good drama, its not the rewatch-able kind of drama (because you already will know what will happen haha)
long story short, all i've got to say is that it's really, really worth the high ratings (7%). another daebak drama for lee jongsuk once again, i am really, really happy for him. he is a brilliant actor considering his young age and he will go very, very far :)

It has everything -
i)a recurring theme of justice, notions of culpability, a moving discourse on the thin line of difference between fair and unfair and the human desire for connection
ii)A solid ensemble cast who put up stellar performances (Lee Bo Young is outstanding as the prickly, smartass, intelligent, independent modern woman and so is Yoon Sang Hyun as the goofy but upright defense attorney. Lee Jong Suk is quite convincing in his difficult role as well)
iii)A well plotted story that makes sense and doesn't frustrate us with its lack of rationale.
iv)great music which goes with the overall tone of the story and adds to the many tender or suspenseful moments that the characters share with each other
AND last but not the least.....
v)a heart-melting noona-dongseng romance. If Soo Ha and Hye Seong's romance didn't move you or you are still cringing at the age difference thing then I'm sorry to say you're not a very sensitive human being.
So if you're still hesitating and wondering whether it's worth a shot to invest 18+ hours in this specific drama, do not worry and JUST GO RIGHT AHEAD AND WATCH IT. This drama gifts you with an amazing, amazing experience, teaches you lots about human empathy, nitty gritties of the law and the ultimate need to hear and respond to someone's voice (be it a stranger or someone you've known for ages) (Yeah sorry couldn't help but use that cliche)

When I started this, I never thought I'd like it this much, I thought it was just other drama to pass time with, but I was sooo WRONG!! the first 10 minutes grabbed my attention and I couldn't stop watching after that. The story is really unique, whoever heard of Justice with a twist of mind reading?? Every moment makes you guess and wonder whats going to happen!! I mean legit you really don't have a clue on whats going to happen next, it can go in that direction or the other, you have to just watch and wait, which personally kills me!!. The Acting is perfect, some people have a problem because the women is older, but trust me even though the main leads have an age gap, you really don't see it because their chemistry is shining threw the shine,The main guy is MANLY!! Watch it and you'll know what I mean. The Music is really catchy, it fits with every scene well, and I don't usually rewatch dramas, but this one is an exception for me,that's how good it is.
*** GOO WATCH NOWW!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET!***

"I Hear Your Voice" is a really hard drama for me to review, since it's one of those dramas you really can't describe. So I'm just going to go right on ahead.Story: The writer also wrote "Dream High", which was definitely well written but the actors weren't all that great. A few episodes in, it was really obvious that the writer was the same because- while the plot was completely different- the story was told with a ton of heart. The writer very obviously loved each and every character here and really fleshed them all out. I also feel like the writer has improved from her "Dream High" days, because the character arcs weren't so drastic here like they were in DH. The characters here moved along their little paths in subtle ways, becoming better people but still retaining their original selves. I especially loved Do Yeon's character arc because it really hit you in the heart. She started out a bitchy, arrogant girl and finally became a character you could love and respect. To be completely honest, by the end of the drama there really weren't any characters you actively hated. There were some you found pitiful, but everyone had their reasons for doing with they did and they all suffered the consequences of their actions. I kind of wish that Kwan Woo and Soo Ha had more scenes together, because they could have had an awesome bromance, but I did love the relationship they already had with each other. Another thing that I loved about this drama was the relationship between Kwan Woo and Hye Sung. Kwan Woo inspired Hye Sung to become a better lawyer and start trusting in her defendants, and they're the textbook example of a "what could have been" couple. As far as shortcomings go, they're all pretty much related to the courtroom stuff. For instance, there's only three lawyers, one judge and two prosecutors throughout this entire drama. The courtroom scenes were unrealistic and if I were a lawyer/ someone in the field, I would probably hate how that world is portrayed in this drama.
Acting: Lee Bo Young was really good and had cute chemistry with Lee Jong Suk despite their huge age gap. Yoon Sang Hyun was great and I adored Choi Sung Joon. Everyone worked well within their roles.
Music: 2013 seems to be the year of great drama OSTs for me. I loved "Echo" to bits and pieces. All the other songs were used well and really fit the overall themes of this drama.
Rewatch Value: Of course, the second time you watch it won't be the same, but there are some parts that are worth the rewatch.
Overall: I know this is a bit last-minute, but I really have to commend "I Hear Your Voice" for coming up with such a clever title. The titular "voice" is different for each and every character. For Soo Ha, it's people's thoughts, for Hye Sung it's hearing and believing in her defendant's words and I don't want to give away Kwon Woo's because it's such a spoiler. Unlike other dramas, the title isn't just there on a surface level, but it really touches each and every facet of the drama, which just shows how much thought was put into it.

This drama was pleasantly surprising in that I did not expect it to be as good as it was. The summary did not completely interest me but after watching this drama, I found that it lives up to its high ratings and reviews. The drama was captivating and had me hooked by the first episode with a sad story that made me curious to learn more about the characters. This drama is quick paced and any challenges that arise are resolved within the next few episodes. Comedic roles, such as the judge and the secretary, were added to provide humor in what could be a more serious drama. I really enjoyed the drama until exactly halfway through when there was an unexpected twist that included a typical drama cliché followed by a specific trial. Not wanting to give away spoilers, I will just say that what the lawyers come to realize by the end of the trial was something I’m sure most viewers were thinking right from the beginning. Although I was able to look past this and continue to enjoy the rest of the drama, this made me rate it a 9 instead of a 10 (Note: I rarely give out 10s but this drama was very close to getting one).
I thought the ending wrapped up nicely. I like how it was a more realistic ending in respect to the main couple. Rather than the typical “and they live happily ever after” feel, the couple acknowledges the fact that their relationship might not last in the long run but they will work hard at it.
The characters are well-developed, each with their own story that influences their decisions and personality. After finding out that the writer also worked on Dream High, I have to say that I am not surprised because I thought the characters for that drama were also nicely written. I particularly like the relationship between Hye Sung and Do Yeon and the characters of Lawyer Cha and Hye Sung’s mother. These really added to the overall drama value. In general, the cast did a great job bringing the characters to life.
As for the music, although some of it was repetitive, it wasn’t annoying like how it is for some other dramas. The OST was good and fit nicely with the scenes.

When writing becomes a strong point
I wasn`t surprised, first of all, to see that the writers responsible for this drama were the same ones who gave us "Pinocchio". Both of these dramas` strongest points is their writing. To start off this review, I do have to admit my bias for Older Female/Younger Male trope, which has been one of my favorites for a long time now, and it is also the way I found out about this drama. I always like to start off my reviews by mentioning one drama`s pros, as I believe that each one, no matter how good or mediocre it is, has its pros and cons. For one, most of characters` emotions, thoughts and relationships are meticulously explored and tied, where you can thoroughly understand their motivations and the progression of feelings they experience. For example, I completely understand why and how Soo-ha would fall for Hye-sung. It has next to nothing to do with her appearance per se, but it is the kind of infatuation which you can hardly shake even well into your adulthood. She basically saved his life and honored his family while not really understanding the level of danger she`d be put in. That`s commendable and worthy of his affection. It`s not JUST an `idol` type of shallow obsession, it`s both gratefulness and love for someone who became your savior. I also like how, though disappointed at first, he still understood her personality instead of wallowing in self pity over a ruined facade. Another point goes for the characterization and development of Hye-sung. Now, this also partially has to do with my preference. Under almost each episode at the start of this drama, people were brutal towards her. "She`s unlikeable, downright insufferable, I hope we see her grow and change."Jang Hye-sung is the type of a female lead we still don`t see a lot in dramas, for whatever reason. She`s arrogant(and she stays this way for the remainder of the drama), proud, with very relatable goals in life in hindsight(comfortable living provided by money) and blunt to a fault, but it`s so refreshing. We do see her change however. But not in the over the top way, from bad to good, from independent to pathetically underpowered. Her arrogance, which has stemmed from her insecurities, acting like a front, instead started to stem from her ability and convictions. She did not stop being self-important and cocky, she just changed the source from which that power was coming. That`s how you understand your characters and their thoughts and develop them accordingly. Other characters receive similar treatment, especially the show`s antagonist Min Joon-gook. Up until episode 12, Min Joon-gook was one interesting and downright realistic take on a serial killer. He`s an everyman, someone you can easily employ, positive and helpful. We all like to imagine our serial killers as sociopathic, asocial and broody humans who are creepy and obviously on a bad path because that would make us feel more perceptive and safe, as we deem it easy to spot them. And admittedly, some are like that. However, the vast majority are more likely to be like Min Joon-gook. Even as a serial killer, he still makes mistakes and worries about how his plans are going to work out. That clumsiness , coupled with the eerie normalcy of his character, made him a worthy addition. Which is why I`m rather mad for what they did to him in later episodes. The OST is also very good, some bangers lead to the enhancement of the actual atmosphere instead of taking away from it.
As I`ve said, if the story is tight, the characters are fleshed out and worthy of praise and OST is great as well, then pray, what are the cons of this drama?
Well, I would be a hypocrite to give this drama an 8.5 or higher when, at the same time, it becomes lazy and employs one of the worst tropes known to the dramaworld, if not the worst. You know the one, for sure. FREAKING MEMORY LOSS. Thanks, I hate it. I hated it before, I hate it now and I`ll hate it forever until the end of time. Unless amnesia is an important plot point encompassing your story from the start until the end, don`t use it. Don`t use it to pad out the runtime of an otherwise satisfying show. It flushes your credibility down the toilet in an instant. And I hate how every drama that does this obviously does it for useless filler, shown through the fact that memories return after maximum two episodes. Another reason why I just couldn`t rate it any higher is briefly mentioned above, but I just hate how they turned Min Joon-gook`s motivation from going after Hye-sung because of her testimony, aptly showing how being consumed by hatred can make you rotten from the inside to it being a revenge against Soo-ha of all people, on the basis of his parents` past. This way they undermine most of the things he did to get to where he got. Him telling Soo-ha that he`s not his target and that he has no wish to hurt him, to him luring Soo-ha for a ham-fisted exposition on turning into a beast, it`s all diluted and unnecessary and obviously done for tacked on drama. Finally, I feel like, and this is just my gripe with both this drama and "Pinocchio" from a writing standpoint, they should`ve developed actual relationship between Soo-ha and Hye-sung more. As in, as a couple. It still felt like they weren`t even together when they`ve been in a relationship for a bit. It all stayed on the `playful-yet-innocent` level for characters whose feelings obviously warrant more.
Still, I like this drama a lot and fun fact: I actually watched "Kill Me, Heal Me" before this and had no idea that Lee Bo-young(Jang Hye-sung) and Ji Sung(Cha Do-hyun) were married! What a coincidence!

There was no over-the-top antagonist and the villain was well used for the show's crime-thriller genre. Female lead acted really, really well and young male lead was also very good. The supporting cast equally did well in the acting department which made the show even more lovable. Show and the characters were well-written, where all the leads (main & secondary) have the biggest character growths seen in dramas.
There's never a dull moment in this show. It got me so hooked that I finished it in 2 days. And I so love the soundtrack!!! Definitely a classic you'd love to re-watch over and over again!
