Obviously, both have Lee Min Ki in it. Although BTIMFL is more preppy and happy, they both are in the slice of life genre, showing the events in the mundane lives of normal people. They both discuss certain topics that are quite relatable to the public, like insecurities, societal pressures, relationships and their fragility, workplace toxicity, and just the overall hardships of being a broke young adult with nothing to your name.

- vulnerable and mature conversations ( inner \ with others)
- Son Seok Koo and Lee El are acting in both dramas
- both stories show the effect of the person's background (family, society values, living in a city or countryside) on their behavior.

One thing that kept me watching both dramas are Male lead character. If you're looking for same kind of male lead character then both the drama has one. Both gives similar "no fucks given vibe"!!

Set in the country side, both dramas are revolve around adult life. While Homcha is a fluffy slice of life romance comedy, My Liberation Notes is a light gloomy slice of life with dry humours.

Homcha has Hong Banjang, a social butterfly guy who always helps the villagers but actually has a piece of his life that he doesn't share with other people. While My Liberation Notes has Mr. Goo, a mysterious man who doesn't want to involve himself with everyone else.

Centers on a woman struggling through day to day life until she encounters, and becomes closer to, a man with a rough exterior. Through the bond they form they both begin to open up and enjoy life.

The main story is not similar at all, but there's family problems and people trying to find motivation and reasons to keep living.

Main character (Pond in AS and Mr. Gu in MLN) have a mystery past and at first we didn't understand why he is like he is but the things are being revelated in the episodes.

Everything is very slow paced and there's a subtle tension like if all could fall apart anytime because of the angst of mains characters.

And there's a kinda of yellow filter in both that sets up the melodrama mood.
