This movie is so exciting and full of action which I love
The movie is set in the lead-up to the historic 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, the film centres around five friends who collectively call themselves the Sanggye-dong Supreme Team.

I love the classic 80s retro vibes and soundtrack
Fast and Furious in the 80s (I don't know if fast and furious have political chats never watched it)

I was a little confused with the friendship dynamic this is my understanding of them
The main lead Park Dong Wook and Park Yoon Hee are siblings, Woo Sam (John) and Joon Ki are brothers, in the middle of the movie Joon told Dong while giving the ignition "this is dad's, so I don't know

I hate politics side in these types of movies but it went straight to the point, I liked the discovery uncovering a slush fund scam during the Olympics that was really good and refreshing.
I really shipped John and the Secretary they deserved better
I gasp so loud when prosecutor died he just came out of nowhere unexpected jumpscare

I found something therapeutic here!

I never expected the film to be therapeutic! I was quietly watching this film not until the car chase scene shook my soul.

Watching the car chase scene during the start of Olympics is the main highlight of this film! Everything is perfectly executed! It gave me some kind of adrenaline rush that urges me to do something productive!

In addition, I was able to love the film because of the familiar faces who are doing a great job plus the story is easy to follow (main reason why I struggle to love action movies).

I also liked the songs featured in this film and even the OST. It serves as my mood booster from time to time.

1. Fun, light action comedy flick when you have nothing to do on friday night
2. I like the cast, felt like everyone was having a blast shooting though sometimes yoo ah in is being so serious with his acting (lighten up!). And whew! No one died!
3. 1988 olympics didnt really have much to do with the story but i loved how they styled their car ala olympics style. And the old music (i was listening to 80s rap just this morning!)
4. The Prosecutor ahn scene was the main thing that struck me most in the movie. And surprise that the lead prosecutor isnt a baddie!

Dislikes
1. Felt like they tried so hard to make them look cool but the 80s vibe felt forced (did the writer grow up in the 80s or did the writer just googled the 80s?)
2. Too long and some parts were boring. It only gets interesting in the last part. The ending was also too unbelievable (are they trying to be f&f or mission impossible?)
3. I was expecting general bald will be some famous actor considering how they tried to conceal his face, so was disappointed when i saw who it was.

It's Entertaining at Best.

I remember hearing about this movie a couple months ago but didn't really know much about it, other than it takes place in 1988 and there was some robbery or heist involved.

For a 2+ hour long movie, it's surprising lacking in the character development area. There are far too many unknowns that we are left to guess or make assumptions about. For example, why was Park Dong Wook (main lead) so invested in getting to the USA - we're not really given an answer and it might having something to do with racing but we have to guess. There's a lot missing from this movie about his family that is left to us to try and piece together or just blatantly ignore.

For the main character to be quite obsessed with the USA and the USA rap scene (given his 'shrine' to it), I was surprised by the lack of actual late 80's American rap music. We get a couple of songs - I think only two - not sure if budget wasn't allowing for more, he has an album in his shrine but no music from that artist is used during the movie.

The car chase scenes were okay, let's be honest, there are a lot better car chase scenes out there in movie land and with having to age Seoul backwards, a lot of scenes felt either completely CGI and/or a lot of green/blue screen (not necessarily a bad thing but noticeable).

This probably would have been better as a limited 8 or 10 part series where they could have fleshed out the characters and have a better script, because yes - the script was definitely lacking.

A predictable, but surprisingly entertaining hell of a ride

As a person who doesn’t really care for movies full of action and cars, I was a bit hesitant to watch this. What eventually persuaded me? The beautiful cast and the 80’s nostalgic feels it has.

I was pleasantly surprised. It’s fast paced and kept me engaged from the beginning. Don’t expect a very in-depth story with surprising plot twists; it’s all quite predictable and like the average action movie story. However, in an entertaining kind of way.

You’ll get to see a fine looking cast that does a good job and clearly had fun making this. The only character that was a bit too much for my liking was Song Min-Ho as Galchi.
The music felt somewhat out of place sometimes, but in a way that complemented the vibes of the movie.

Was i a bit bored with the ‘feet on the pedals’ closeups? Yes.
Was the same camera trick used every time a car was spinning on the road? Yes.
Was I surprised by the ending? Not at all.
But it kept me captivated until the end and had me entertained. And sometimes that’s enough.
