yuri vs nanno epic battle??

this season was even more crazy with yuri being her competition... last episode completley ruined me?? NANNO I LOVE YOU COME BACK...
I feel really bad for yuri, although her trying to compete with nanno was like okay?? the episode w the rich girls and that whole scene where nanno gets ha head smashed oh my god??
this second season was really good tho, just not as good as the first season. It was still amazing and people who watched the first season should definitely continue it
also is the story of that boy getting pregnant really true oh ma gawd…

It was ok

I prefer season 1 a lot more only because I can't handle the dynamic between Yuri and Nanno. I like that Yuri is kind of an enemy now and it also shows that Nanno can also mess up but maaan she is soooo annoying it just made me mad.
I really hope that Yuri doesn't completely take over Nanno's spot next season as I don't agree on her views of justice. Yuri is filled with hate and doesn't really care about justice. Even though Nanno was a bit extreme she still made a good difference. Yuri representing vengeance and revenge and Nanno is karma. But man it was annoying to see Yuri mess up Nanno's plan. I guess Yuri is still new but she is very reckless. Yuri is a lot more human which makes sense since she did turn into whatever she is now.
ALSO is nobody questioning the ice-cream boy???
I liked that this season had a lot more gore and horror aspects, I especially enjoyed the episode where they get locked in school with the killer.
I honestly would prefer if Yuri helped Nanno rather than mess it up. It does add interest but I'm definitely team Nanno and it hurts to see her fail since man she's so cool. What made Nanno special was that she was the "girl from nowhere". But now it doesn't feel as special and tbh I just don't like yuri. Also last episode kind of made no sense like she survived all those other times. And what about the dream???? thinking....

Do not recommend.

This was by far the worst second season of a show I have EVER seen. It doesn't mirror season 1 at all - the evil being punished, a moral lesson behind each episode... none of that was present here.

Yuri is a horrible character, her "backstory" does not constitute her behaviour throughout the rest of the season - and her and Nanno being linked never made sense.

Most importantly, episode 2 was the most disgusting horrifying thing throughout the entire show and everything I have ever watched - and I previously had thought an episode of the first season was specifically bad.. but that can't even compete with this. There was no reason to justify this episode being aired, it makes me wonder for what reason the writers REALLY wanted this episode to air..

Nanno's character throughout this season is consistent when it was never meant to be. Nanno was always meant to represent temptation or evil in whatever way her chosen target would best accept it. Nanno of season 2 has a set personality which just seems fake to me.

Before I had watched this season through, I was going to recommend it to my friends - now I won't even bother since it has been such a waste of time for me.

This season wasn't as good as season one. Although it did have a storyline but I don't like Yuri. Yuri is basically a Nanno, she deals with what Nanno deals with but with different methods. I don't really like Yuri. I don't understand why Yuri wants to replace Nanno, literally, she can just go to a different school, and so things at a different school. As for the ending, it made no sense. Nanno is a girl from nowhere, yet she somehow dies. In many scenes and clips of the show, we see that Nanno gets killed various times, but why did Nanno die after the teacher killed her at the end. Yes, Yuri can be a replacement for Nanno, but I like how Nanno deals with things.

I really hate Yuri, I think that Yuri should be grateful to Nanno because Nanno was the one who gave her a chance to live again. There needs to be a season 3, because there is no way on Earth, that Nanno died. I've seen Nanno get killed mulitple times, but every time she comes back to life. I want an explanation as to why that wound on her neck did not heal, and why she died.

Yuri's character in my pov.

When I was watching the last episode of GFN S2, i came across a thought.
For instance - Nanno is like karma, she comes unannouced, in various ways and scales. Karma will never achieve her punishments without a consent of the wrongdoer - thus why she always gave people ideas to see if they're wrongdoers.
Yuri, on the other hand, isn't exactly like Nanno. Yuri comes from impulsive, straight forward thoughts about wanting to punish someone. She embodies maybe vengeance, the part of person, where we want to do everything quickly, just so we can see them punished ASAP.

I know that Yuri aspires to be like Nanno, maybe even worse, and I don't necessarily hate the idea of having another punisher. But I dislike the outcome of Yuri as character.
Maybe I liked how Nanno was not even judging people, she knew right away what was going on, saw the opportunity to leading people to their own fate. Yuri doesn't do this. She does things from spite, she likes torture, she wants to see how other people will punish the wrongdoer more, than doing it herself.

In the end, in the last episode, I think that Nanno's planning something in regards of Yuri, that she played opossum, as she did in EP4 [Yuri]. And I really hope, that we get S3 with Nanno still being the "Mother."

The only thing I actually hate, at some point, is thar Yuri gave blood to Junko. In my opinion, Junko is very unnecessary character in this series.
But we will see, don't we.

What Title Man?

I came to watch this drama so I can torture myself and hate the world. It really just highlights more issues in school settings and its unique taste in tackling it. The acting is great and the oppening is much more artistic than the last one. A tragic gore psychological masterpiece as usual. Season 3 is coming and its gonna be good.

I liked that there is a rival in this one for Nanno it makes things a little bit unique than usual. Nanno is a little bit highlighted as justice here but then its subjective she was worse in the season 1 and thats the truth lol.

A decent but slightly disappointing sequel

If you are reading this, you probably have watched the first season of Girl from Nowhere --> same trigger warnings apply, if not more.

As I have written in a review of the first season, "the only and main problem I have with the entire drama is that after a certain episode, the supernatural things began to look more cruel than address the problem." Since this was a 'continuation' of the last season, I just felt like its gotten worse. I still loved every single one of the mini-sodes~ However, I didn't like the fact that there was an ongoing antagonist, consistent throughout the entire season. Our main antagonist was doing things that I, as a human being with morals, was against--even more against what our protagonist was doing. Since I binged both of the seasons back-to-back, I must've grown attached to the protagonist and the fact that no one could stop her; so when an antagonist appeared with a pretty good upper hand, I was obviously upset and uncomfortable.

Overall, I would only RECCOMEND if you were an extreme fan of the previous season.

Some flaws, but a great series

First the music
I really liked the music in that film. I think it added a lot to the story. It complements the story so well. It’s great.

I think that in the stories shown, each individual represented a social phenomenon that was unfolding. You have to look at the stories far beyond the “punished” people, see what they represented. In the first episode especially with the pregnant boy, he was an example in particular but it pushes us to think about pregnancy and teenage sexuality in general and how society treats pregnant teenagers.
It was very interesting. And on the hazing episode, Kaye is not the only one to be charged, it is also the comrades with him, the university administration in general and what he represents. It is not enough to kill a single individual to stop harassment, it is necessary to address established systems and values. Question these values and their presence/significance in today’s society. And this is especially seen with the old-fashioned school episode and the director’s choice to film in black and white. Black and white represents the applied rules/values of this school that dates back to another time. When students leave school but the world is still grey, it means that the world, too, is still holding on to outdated values that no longer apply in our modern society.
All in all, it’s a very interesting series with lots of analogies to today’s world. And if you think about it carefully, and instead of Nanno, you put someone who can’t be resurrected. We see how terrible these stories are and how in real life, there is no avenging angel to punish the “evil ones. ”
WEAKNESSES
I do however regret the fact that the series doesn’t go further in demonstrating the horror of that, that these situations happen in real life and on that point, I much prefer season one where the catharsis worked better than in season two. Whereas in season one, the focus was more on the story of ordinary people, and thus encouraging us to think about these situations in real life, in season two, the focus is more on Nanno and Yuri and I, personally, think that the empathy towards the characters is not as stronger as in season one, it feels less like a story about ordinary people, where we can identify in a way with the “ victims”. Even Though I liked the opposition Nanno/Yuri, I felt like in the episodes, they took too much space, giving us little to analyse the situations presented in the episodes.

When the Revenge wants to take over the Karma.

Yuri is the Game Changer of this season 2. She is the representation of how shitty human is. She spreading hate through her method of Revenge. She doesn't believe in second chance. Everyone needs to taste their own medicine as soon as possible. Junko is her first creation the Hate and Violence.

Nanno is giving us how good her intention is, you can have a second chance in life if you realize and admitting your mistake. But she also giving us her weakness in this season Guilt and Pitied.

Even love can be used as an excuse for selfishness

Reading everyone's review and mostly said how the second season was lacking in terms of plotting, but i personally enjoyed this season more. The conflict felt close to our society current condition and i prefer the message value in this season. Yuri's existence and the frienemies vibe between the two made it even more interesting because we were able to see a much more human side from Nanno. Nanno, whom we thought was some kind of justice-bringing-evil having a heart kinder than human. Meanwhile, Yuri, the originally-human slowly turned into an evil-like-being and caused chaos. The cinematography & directing was very satisfying to look at. This season completed the series as a whole piece.

Renegade

I'm pleasantly torn in this season. You don't have to watch S1 first, but I recommend so you can fully appreciate my crazy girl. I like the 'new blood' theme they had with the new girl but something about this doesn't scream crazy like S1 did. I give it a better rating than I did S1 because I did like the storyline with a higher level of intensity. This season is the definition of Chaotic Evil with a healthy dose of Righteousness lol
I didn't like how Yuri went about things honestly. It totally defeated the purpose of Nanno's 'teachings'. If you believe the world is screwed it works either way but eh.
Worth the watch, of course
Enjoy...

Mixed Feelings on Yuri

I was really excited to start this season knowing that there was a new character and an ensuing overarching plotline with them, and it was really cool to read the theories about how Nanno and Yuri each represented the different types of karma. After watching it, I still really liked the throughline, especially seeing more of Nanno's past and character development, but Yuri's character did not work well at all for me, even though I loved the episode about her backstory.

My main issue is that every single episode's arc seemed to come to a screeching halt every time Yuri stepped in. Nanno's actions actually almost always make sense, and the plot device of Yuri coming in to mess things up actually gets extremely tiring once its used for multiple episodes, one because Nanno's subplots don't seem to provide the same satisfaction, and two because Yuri honestly isn't charismatic enough for me to enjoy her random presence.

It's also so difficult to paint a clear picture of Yuri's personality and punishment method when she's only depicted as a fly in Nanno's orbit the entire time. I genuinely think we should've gotten an episode where we start seeing karma happen, then we find out the instigator is Yuri and not Nanno, and then we see the episode play out per her karmic methodology — this way we'd get a clearer idea of her worldview before she started officially clashing with Nanno, and her character would also be able to stand by herself more.

Overall, I still enjoyed this and I actually liked the topics it covered too — there's a lot less girl-on-girl hate in this one which was good to see. My favorite episodes are Pregnant, SOTUS, and maybe Yuri. When Season 3 drops, I will definitely still be tuning in, and I hope the newer characters are given more chances to shine without diminishing Nanno's impact.
