Good but not perfect.
The first half I totally understood the hype. It was a refreshing story with a very refreshing FL, one who isn't afraid to enjoy eating and doesn't do it in a dainty, feminine way and one who doesn't bother with short skirts, high heels and perfect makeup. In short, she is everything that I've been dying to see in a Kdrama FL.Watching the two leads get to know, respect and then love each other was a delight and they both felt very rounded to me. But then the last third of the drama came, with its inevitable dragging and unnecessary drama...
And why did they suddenly move the focus from the two main couples to new couples that you didn't really know as a viewer and didn't particularly care about???
The producers realised that it should have had only 14 episodes instead of 16 and they still didn't change it. That for me is drama negligence.
I still loved it overall, but it could have been a masterpiece and in the end it wasn't.

Second leads in this ruled!
Fun romance/drama/comedy with a few unexpected creepy suspense moments.The secondary leads Jae-jin and Hye-sun killed it, completely stealing the show from the leads in this.
Unfortunately for the ML, I wish the FL had chosen the other guy. Lol. That's never a good sign. I don't know he was more down to Earth and cool. The ML was too controlling. But it still works I would say. I liked the Mountain Spirit's role in the story, and the FL was really, really good.
This show excels at nothing but does a lot of little things right that do add up. The story progresses well.

Half-assed
The best word to describe this drama is "half-assed" - a half-assed plot, half-assed characters, a half-assed attempt to tackle a genre. The drama starts off as a slap-stick comedy with poop humor. Lee Dam clogs up a toilet after a very cathartic #2, then proceeds to seal it with duct tape. The writers work very hard to create the lolz that would only be appealing to middle-schoolers. Then the drama decides to play a game of musical chairs with different genres going back and forth between romance, melodrama, murder mystery, melodrama, and romance again.After the first two episodes, the drama becomes somewhat tolerable with a lot less poop humor. However, the writers still fail to make Lee Dam compelling enough for an 1000 year old entity to be romantically interested in her. She is nothing more than a sloppy college girl with a tendency to get sh*t-faced. But, apparently, her almost passing interest in history is totally enough for a demi-god to fall in love with her. And, Shin Woo Yeo is completely bland as supposedly a beautiful and seductive fox demon. He has no game or a personality and is extremely uninteresting as a male lead.
The bead is returned to its original owner somewhere in the middle of the drama. At that point, the writers have no idea what to do next. The love triangle is interesting for about five minutes, yet that plotline is milked until the very last episode with Gye Sun Woo making sad faces at Lee Dam for no reason other than her not falling all over herself for him. The murder mystery is somewhat compelling, but it survives for about one-two episodes until the story devolves into a tropey dramatic angst where Woo Yeo isn't sure whether he wants to bang or eat his beloved.
That about sums it up.

If you're in it for the romance, go for it. If not, keep moving.
The show itself was fine. The acting, directing, and music were all great, there were a good amount of funny scenes that didn't detract from the plot, and the storyline was fine. However, the romance aspect of the plot takes up the majority of the run time and if that's not your thing than it can get quite boring after a while.I wanted to watch it for the supernatural aspect and, while I don't mind romance, I ended up skippikg through most of the show and almost dropped it because it really hit a slump in the action/supernatural department. I wanted to finish it in case it got more exciting, however, th ending was much more lackluster than I had hoped.

Bit too long
Interesting drama but a bit too long. I don't follow much of the k world, so maybe I don't know why the 16 episodes formula. With some exceptions, most of the dramas could have fewer episodes...STORY - A simple story with great FL acting.
I liked the chemistry of the main couple, the acting of the secondary characters, their relationships. The struggle to become human is the main reason.
ACTING - FL was awesome,ML was good. Great chemistry and well performances by almost the entire cast.
I think that a 1000 years Gumiho should be more clever. There was a story and then almost nothing happens.
OST - can't remember very well so...
REWATCH? - there are a lot of cute or funny moments so, it is rewatchable for sure.
I don't understand why the love triangles. Is there a thing on Korea about that? Is it the dream of everyone to be involved in one?
I think, personally, the females actresses are gorgeous. But I don't understand the way they portrait beauty, as if someone looks could be the most important thing...

AINDA BEM QUE EU NÃO DROPEI ISSO
O casal principal tem uma química incrivel, amei muito ver eles (mesmo q muitas vezes uma comunicação do lado de nosso Gumiho poderia ter evitado umas coisinhas)* O Seon woo foi um personagem muito mal utilizado, no começo com a coisa do tigre e ele se apaixonando pela Dam quando o objetivo era fazer ela se apaixonar por ele foi ótimo e muito divertido, mas começando com a coisa dos encontros como trabalho começou a descer a ladeira, ficar mais insistente, desrespeitoso, muitas e MUITAS tentativas de se declarar pra ela q obviamente n resultaram em nada, mesmo ele achando q o Oruchin n era a melhor pessoa pra Dam - sendo que NÃO cabe a ele decidir com quem ela deve ficar e ele sabendo q ela tava namorando e mesmo assim insistido??? Péssimo, SEM FALAR NAQUELA HISTÓRIA DE FIO VERMELHO Q UE SO FOI PRA ENCHER LINGUIÇA, assim que o plot novo apareceu ( mármore azul não é energia mas humanidade ) ele sumiu por um episódio inteiro (só mostrando o quanto foi desnecessário arrastar esse plot) e quando voltou no próximo ep foi so pra ele desistir do sonho dele de fazer história pra se mudar pro exterior??? Deviam ter acabado cm esse personagem MUITO antes, só fizeram ele sofrer ATÉ O FINAL;
* O final foi MUITO dramático mas muito lindo também então compensa, assim como vi no insta de uma conta que não lembro o nome, eles souberam utilizar muito bem o último episódio fazendo nós sofrermos bastante -> resolver o problema e depois mais umas cenas deles felizes pra deixar o coração quentinho de novo - foi algo muito bem usado durante boa parte do dorama (com exceção do plot com o Seon-woo) eles não deixaram algo arrastar por muito tempo e era rapidamente consertado;
* Eu amo a relação entre nossos ex-gumihos, agem como crianças/irmãos mas chegando pro final dá pra ver o quanto se importam um com o outro parece, uma relação saudável entre homens e mulheres onde n tem romance envolvido é tudo pra mim
* O quão bem desenvolvidos são os personagens secundários (e o romance da Hye-Sun e o Jae-jin é MARAVILHOSO DE SE VER )
* Odeio isso de formar casal no último episódio sem nenhum desenvolvimento mas a cena do irmão da Dam e da irmã do Seo-woo de arco e flecha foi tudo (a parte de namoro foi engraçada mas completamente desnecessária)
*Queria ter visto mais da amiga da Dam e o carinha bonito lá, uma pena isso não ter tido mais tempo pra eles

Like
Comedy in drama with an especially funny female lead.
Dislike
Second half episodes lost it's charm and seemed to drag on.
6/10 really enjoyed first half of drama.

2nd Male Lead syndrome :)
First half was super hilarious - slapstick, corny, lol kinda funny. 2nd half the humour became tiresome and repeated.Can I just say-I LOVE Jang Ki Yong, but this is the first time I was rooting for the other guy Seon-Woo to get the girl!! His character development was more interesting. At the start he was sneaky and a jerk, but after getting to know and falling in love with Lee Dam he changed, and stood up for her. He even confessed 3x times, but was bitterly rejected. I truly felt his pain and cried during those scenes :(:(:(
The love story between main leads was kind of dull. It was cute and funny before they started dating, after that it got boring and lacked chemistry. Mr Gumiho was rather clueless for a fox who has lived 999 years. And his best friend Hye Sun was equally as dull, all she did was give advice. I think the scriptwriters could have done more with their characters- some action and more magic would have been nice.
The Marble story was rather confusing. It seemed repetitive, going around in circles, like they had to drag the story for 16 episodes. I did like the supporting casts- some ppl preferred the love story of Hye Sun / Jae Jin more than the leads. Towards the end, I started skipping quite a bit. I found the last episode dull, and his comeback a bit of an anti-climax.

great modern day fantasy romcom!
This is pretty much a chill romcom with gumiho's in present time. The storyline was pretty good and I really enjoyed the chemistry of the whole cast.I love Jang Kiyong and he always shows great acting aside from his good looks. I'm not a big fan of Lee Hyeri's acting but she did pretty good in this series; mainly because it was a comedy filled series. I also loved Kang Hanna, she's literally so hilarious! Her character's relationship with Jaejin was just so cute too!
I watched this back in 2021 so I can't fully remember the details but overall, I enjoyed the series!

Unwhelming
If I had to describe this drama in one word, it would be underwhelming. The premise is great and the first couple episodes are also great, it was moving fast, and then nothing happens for 13 more episodes. I'm not kidding. You could watch the first episodes and the last one and nothing in the story would change. Sure there are some comedic bits and some very minor misunderstandings but there is no actual conflict that needs to be resolved until the very last episode. And the minor issues that do occur, the female lead doesn't even know about them because the male lead is constantly treating her like a child and not telling her anything.The female lead is great. She has a lot of charisma, is independent, and goes for what she wants. The male lead and the second male lead are 2 of the most boring characters I've ever seen. It got to a point where I was thinking, no matter which one she ends up with I don't care either way. None of them deserve this queen. Also, the fact that he is 1000 years old usually isn't an issue for me. I'm weird and I like that kind of theme but ugh they kept pressing the fact that he was old, and constantly comparing him to an old man it was so CREEPY. And it really doesn't help that he was constantly lying and withholding information from the female lead. It really gave me weird abusive vibes similar to real relationships when the man is too old and takes advantage of a young woman.
I'm guess more than anything, I'm just disappointed. I feel like with this kind of theme they had free rein to do whatever they want and instead they gave us the bare minimum.
I would not recommend unless you are very new to dramas.

Mostly fresh and fun—but the main OTP bored me
I understand why people like this. It is easy to recommend for those who like forced cohabitation/school romcoms with bits of fantasy.I enjoyed nearly all of the various relationships and interactions in this series (the friends, the two sets of siblings, the secondary and tertiary OTPs). I liked the production as a whole (the colors are nice, the animations are funny) and didn't mind the paper-thin fantasy. Our leads Jang Ki Yong (as Shin Woo Yeon) and Lee Hyeri (as Lee Dam) also make one good-looking pair.
However, as the show progressed, the main OTP (and their issues) bored me. So much so that somewhere from the middle of the drama until the end I was fast-forwarding most of their angsty/contemplative/sugary moments and just wanted to see everyone else instead.
I'm sure a lot of people loved their swoony moments the way the writer intended them to be. But it just didn't work for me. Woo Yeon was written way too calm, passive, and dull for my tastes. He ruminated by his window too much and he kept Dam in the dark a lot of times. I only looked forward to his moments with our ditzy ex-gumiho Hye Sun (played by Kang Han Na) because he comes alive every time with their petty arguments.
As for Lee Hyeri herself, I liked her in the little bit I've seen her in the reality shows before (We Got Married bits and House on Wheels premiere). Her brand of comedy here is rarely seen in dramaland nowadays. She reminds me a bit of the (slightly) embarrassing FLs in older kdramas like Lee Da Hae in My Girl and Kim Sun Ah. I liked her here but I hope she chooses more diverse projects after this so she won't be typecast.
Anyway, all the supporting characters and their story arcs were fun and interesting so I'll probably rewatch this for them. I'll just be fast-forwarding through the scenes of the OTP.

Cute and fluffy, with a side of Gumiho
I am pleasantly surprised at how thoroughly I enjoy this drama. This was a perfect cute, fluffy, and light-hearted drama. I was literally smiling and giddy for almost the entire drama. I even LOLed at some scenes. I previously watched Touch Your Heart which was kind of a struggle to get through and surprisingly, a few of the side characters of Touch Your Heart showed up in My Roommate is Gumiho. But unlike Touch Your Heart, MRIG does the light-hearted, fluffy drama theme so much better.I loved the relationship between the two main leads but I especially liked the female lead. I absolutely adored Hae-sun in this drama though. Initially. I thought she was going to turn into a villain later on because secretly she was in love with Sir the entire time. But I'm so glad that wasn't the case. I loved her love-hate friendship that she had with Sir. They both aren't good at being honest and nice to each other so they expressed their love for each other through their banter. I also loved that she was completely willing to protect and support Lee Dan every time she needed it. I'm glad she was paired with Jae-jin, I didn't expect it but they're a sweet couple to watch. I would've loved to see the Mountain Spirit in the last episode while they were tying things up but it's okay. I still loved the wrapping up of the final episode.
I really did feel bad for Seon-woo though. Even though he was a mega-jerk at the start of the drama, I still found myself liking him and if Sir wasn't in the picture, I really wouldn't have minded if Seon-woo and Lee-Dan got together. Of course, that would turn this drama into an entirely different drama.
Anyways, I'm really glad I decided to give this drama a try instead of skipping it. Maybe one day, I'll come back and re-watch it just for the laughs.
