Slow and Boring as it goes

When i saw the trailer of the show, i really wished it would be as exciting as it seems in it, but it turns out to be a slow narration, there were regular 😲 in the middle but those can't make this drama a completely watchable one, as far as I've seen, i got excited only for the first two episodes and the rest is only a drag for me. Actually Disappointed 😞, but i think i should complete this drama to totally understand why this plot was so slow; if i find it amazing atleast at the end, i will be coming back to review it again 😊

Wasted potential...really boring

It was good at first but became really boring really fast. The main couple went from decently paced to extremely slow paced. I felt like I was watching a repititon of the previous episode.
The second couple was just a mess. The reason why ji na and lee hyun broke up was because joo ik interfered... for no reason might I add (he didnt even like her then). I didnt like how joo ik ended up with ji na after finding out what he did. In present he was the better choice but dudes a whole a** homewrecker and sh*t friend.
The deity bs was just plain confusing I stopped trying to make sense of it after the "reset".

The original thought process was good but the drama itself...well read for yourself in my review about Doom at Your Service the most awaited Korean Drama for the first half of 2021.
I wanted to like this drama but I could not.
This is my first short review and I am not finished with this but I am sure I will not change it as there are only two more episodes left and it ends Tuesday.
The story is comparable to fantasy Korean Dramas like Goblin, Gu Family Book, any other mythical creatures dramas and I loved the layout but the plot writing and process of this drama is what seals the low deal for me.
The original story was pretty damn well thought out but the application is what failed.
I usually love secondary couples in dramas but I thought I could do without them here, about 75 percent of the time, the drama failed in representing the whole drama and the meaning of making the drama. Making it a messy and well dragged out drama.
I liked the cast, I love Seo In Guk and Park Bo young both are amazing actors and they acted very well and I feel like they could have possibly give me the potentially high rating I am actually giving it. I don't really care what other people say, but I like Lee Soo Hyuk and I think he is a good actor but his storyline wasn't great. I didn't feel the chemistry between Ji na and Joo Ik, it wasn't the best.
I really loved this drama at the start but it went down for me. In whole, if the main couple had gotten a better thought out process I could have learned to keep on loving this drama but it just seems like it tried to be Oh my God, it's Doom at Your Service best fantasy drama of 2021, but it went to a crappy version of any other mythical romance out there. I actually like My Roommate is a Guimho better and it has a similar plot but I couldn't like this drama. I am very sorry to Seo In Guk and Park Bo Young, and their wonderful acting and chemistry but I couldn't salvage this drama. Of course, I know people with otherwise different opinions but I hope you don't attack me on this review, I just didn't like this drama and the rating I am giving seems pretty high to me, (all the main couple) again if you liked this drama please don't come at me, we all have different opinions and let's not waste our time arguing. That is my final verdict on this drama and I loved the OST, I am a multifandom but my favorite favorite group is EXO and Baekhyun did not disappoint me, this had one of the best OST line up's in 2021, and I really will be visiting the MV's again to hear the songs. Have a nice day!

Neither Good or Bad.

Boy.... I missed watching according to the schedule and completely feel unmotivated to continue after EP11. The more I think
about the spoilers and the way the story wove into a labyrinth for the sake of filling the episodes, the less inclined I feel to know what happens in the future. Maybe I'll pick it up sometime, bit it's definitely a Dropped from me for now. I'd recommed this show if you don't care much about plot or if you are a strong fan of the leads. I'd suggest turning off the "logic+understanding" and switching on the "only for enjoyment" button on before starting. Otherwise, I feel like so many talented actors (who did their job well) were wasted in this one. The script/story lacks direction and runs around in circles with the Deity system itself remaining ambiguos and difficult to portray. It could've been solved in 10 or 12 episodes, but dragged on for no good reason.
--------
I'm going to rate it a 5/10 for the first 11 episodes of the drama. 5 is me focussing on the plot alone and the overall way it impacts the pace and anticipation for the story as a whole.
What bothers me is that the writer seems to know where the story has to go, but did not do a smooth portrayal of it. We are at the 10th episode, and the only plotline that is actually in motion is the mundane love triangle of Tak Dong Kyung's friend Ji Na... which I am not interested in. The main couple's "throw-the-ball-to-the-other" keeps going on. In an episode spanning an hour long we get 10 minutes of important points about the leads, particularly from Doom and the deity. It is clear that he has a plan, but the story has yet to reveal what he is actually upto. The only character who makes logical statements is the female deity, but she seems to be someone cleverly inserted to give the main couple a happy/neutral/bitter ending. Unless you are a fan of slow plots and is patient enough to watch sweet scenes with the leads, I highly doubt that this drama is "binge watch worthy". From what I see, Tak Dong Kyung can choose to just take the surgery and live with what time she has, making the 100 day contract invalid. But, judging from EP11's teaser, we are going to get pulled into another maze of intricate ball throwing and decisions, so let's see where it goes.

I can see why it has so many polarized ratings - for a fantasy KDrama with predecessors such as Goblin and Hotel del Luna, the anticipation and expectation is really high. Once we set all that aside, DAYS is indeed a different drama with a an interesting plotline. Doom himself is personified as a living being and the concept of the cycle of life is something I'm seeing for the first time.

Fantasy dramas are either a hit or miss and I can tell that this one has a lot of potential to take either road. EP8 was slightly satisfying as it managed to cover a few important foreshadowings that could have been done much earlier. There are characters and conversations that are actually interesting: like the young teenage girl and Myul Mung. We get a mysterious vibe.
The main couple is ship worthy, but the erratic "toss-the-ball-to-the-other" plot has been a bit repetative and makes it seem boring. Another thing that I noticed is that there might be time skips - the drama begins with her having only three months left to live and then in the recent episode she tells that she has about two months left.
The acting of the cast fills up all the missing parts, but once we try to summarize an episode... there's not much going on there. I don't feel the urge to binge the new ones every week. I also feel that the addition of the friend's complicated love life is a filler of some sort, but if they had not been there, the drama would be pretty boring.
It has enough mystery and potential to keep me curious and I want to see whether the ending is going to be a thrilling, yet logical one or if the writers decide to do a cope out.

The show is just absurd.

Let's start out by getting the terms of the contract straight. Dong-kyung has terminal cancer and 100 days left to live. She thoughtlessly wishes for the end of the world, after which Doom approached her to enter into a weird contract. The contract stipulates that she has to wish for the destruction of the world in return for a painless 100 days before her death. If she goes back on her end of the deal, her most loved one will die in her place. Oh, and he will also grant her an additional wish on the side, presumably a loophole for her to break out of this conundrum. What are the fine prints? How is this contract enforced? No one knows, perhaps we can just take it for granted. Wait a minute, if the world is doomed, how can she and her loved one survive? Well, good question. From any logical point of view, it seems like this is a dumb contract to enter. In fact, even the truck of doom there to grant her an instant death seemed like a more viable alternative. There is a "reason" for this though, see what happens next.

She figured that she can wriggle around the terms of the contract by finding someone else to love. She also has the perfect target: Doom. She doesn't really care that after she falls in love with that person, she most definitely will not want to wish doom upon him as well. I mean, drama characters have the right to be ultra short-sighted to push plot movement anyway, so we need to accept her rationale behind this for drama sake. She's also dying, and that desperation means that she can't think straight. We should really forgive her even though the decision makes no sense. And who would've guessed? This plays fantastically into Doom's plan because he's tired of being Doom anyway. Brilliant! Now, our leads have motivation to force themselves to fall in love with each other. The writer proceeds to cue all k-drama tropes. *roll eyes* What's the point of the contract did you ask? For them to fall in love of course!

They do so very quickly. That's natural, right? Even though it's forced, even though the relationship build up was skimmed over, it doesn't matter. This is just fan service after all. What now? Huh? Falling in love is not a good idea anymore? Okay. It's a good idea again? Okay. It's time to spend a few episodes deliberating to love or not to love. In the meantime, write some Chicken Soup for the Soul-esque lines and have the characters engaged in intentionally "profound" dialogues about the meaning of life and death, fortune and misfortune, yin and yang, North and South, positive and negative... you get it. It's important to emphasise to our viewers that this drama is not just a frivolous fantasy romance, it's a thought-provoking philosophical drama and we want to send the audience a message. A message that's been told a thousand times over and is nothing novel. *glance*

Follow me. One step forward, one step back, side to side, side to side. Okay, the story is finally done with the flip flop and faux dilemma. Our leads realised that their affection for each other is strong, despite the fact that they've only known each other for a very short time. They confess their love but gets hindered by a god-like being. We don't know what's the reason for that, but there must be a reason, and we'll discover it sooner or later. We do know one thing, that love, not 42, is the answer to life, the universe and everything. We can rest assured that our leads will romance more. Meanwhile, we should not doubt or be perplexed, because this lends to the mysterious vibes of the drama. This is why character motivations are vague. This is a fantasy drama after all, how can you expect answers at the start, even if they have everything to do with understanding why people do the things they do? Of course, the best epic dramas do world building, lay out rules and laws, and leave engaging puzzles. Basic creative writing 101. This drama is different, we're not gonna tell you what are gods, what do gods do and whatnot. This is a departure from normal dramas, this is different, this is how it should be.

Extraordinarily bad.

Satire aside, there are some huge problems with the drama.

1. The premise is weak. We all know that romance dramas need a reason to bring our leads together, but the reason here is too obvious, too lame and too unconvincing.

2. World building is non-existent. The first two episodes should lay down what are the basic laws of this fantasy world that the writer has created, but we got none of that. The writer is treating the laws of the universe as mysteries the viewers should uncover, which isn't good story telling. This means that the drama isn't grounded and viewers are left scratching their heads why people behave in a certain way. Also, because there is no ground work done, these mysteries are not enticing but frustrating.

3. The deliberately cryptic dialogues. Usually, when a drama wants to relay a message, it uses a sub plot to tell a story and let viewers come to the conclusion themselves. DAYS is very peculiar in that its story and scenes contribute very weakly to the sort of message the writer wants to tell. Instead, it tries to emphasise the messages indirectly with the dialogues instead, and then you're left thinking: "Oh, just this? Meh." It doesn't resonate with the audience. It reminds me of the short stories I wrote in middle school with really basic plots and an underlying theme that was executed awkwardly.

4. The story development is slow. In fact, I'm not sure what exactly is the story. If they want to talk about the romance, then our leads have fallen in love too quickly and what's left is separation and reunion on rinse and repeat. If they want to be philosophical, then the script just falls short entirely.

5. The detached side plot is jarring. At the present moment it doesn't contribute to anything (except the tug-o-war between the fans of the actors).

On a personal level, I find the drama extremely pretentious and trying to bite off more than it can chew. I rated it a 1 to balance out the actual ratings, but to judge the drama solely based on its quality it's a 5/10.

EDIT: Also, don't assume that I don't understand what's going on in the drama. I do, I just don't see how it's deep or meaningful in any way. I also understand Korean, so there is nothing lost in translation for me.

Their Chemistry is just fire ??!!TvN never disappoints me..✌️

I Don't know why others are watching this drama but For me All I see is Their Chemistry.. Specially SEO IN GUK.. he has already won hearts of almost every spectators who are currently watching this.. and PARK BO YOUNG was always been cutiepie... Though she look much more mature.. But they make the best chemistry... 😍😍

About the storyline i can say that. ofc as a fantasy based drama its quite interesting.. also the name of the drama tell itself, what is this drama about... Its has rom com and ofc some imaginatic things...
but the show had a potential in beginning but it was getting lost episode by episode... it was upseting..
but i must say i was always Afraid about what would happen to them next... But i enjoyed every moment... After "Crash Landing on You" this drama made me cry like hell.. And Also gave me the same pain which i experienced while watching .. "Goblin.. " I laughed, i Cried,... But I am happy that i watched it.. And Now i will miss them like helllll.. Specially Kim Saram { Seo In Guk}... i just love himm.....
.

But one thing i am happy that it has a good ending but one thing did really annoyed me that the ending Didn't satisfy me.. I wanted it to be a little more cute..at least a little hug or kiss.. but i am really gald that it had a happy ending.. bcoz we were afraid of a sad ending for both 1st & 2nd lead couple...

★now lets talk about 2nd leads...
the second Leeds are another highlight of the drama..they have a love triangle so this makes the drama even more interesting ..and another thing is they are incredibly beautiful that they can make another drama with this 2nd.. 2nd main lead couple was too perfect for each other. ... Many Viewers are currently shipping them..

★ I really want to Thank the Director and screenwriter for this amazing story and casting...

LOVED EVERYTHING ❤️

and yeah,,,,, i recommend THIS drama to everyone who loves Fantasy / Rom-com

enjoyable if u know what to expect

I can't say i completely disagree with the many bad reviews, i mean the plot isn't necessarily perfect in any sense, and the drama is in big part enjoyable because of the good actors and chemistry.

Then again, I usually really try to base my opinions on dramas solely on how i felt while watching it, and since i would always be excited when mondays would roll around, since I fell in love with the characters, since I have the entire OST downloaded on spotify... I can't really say that I didn't like this drama.
I get why some people might not be super into it, after all it can get repetitive and, especially if you're reading subtitles, the quotes are "deep" without really being deep at all at times.
But i just couldn't help but really love the drama in general. I think the chemistry between the 2 main leads tied it together (I know everyone rages about the love triangle but? to me TDK and MM were the only ones i ac cared about) and i loved the script, dialogue, interactions between everyone.

I actually genuinely enjoyed the plot. I liked the story line, not only the interactions. I'm just saying it was slow paced and definitely not enjoyable for people looking forward to big ups and dramatic downs in every scene. But the plot was well written imo. (I feel like i can't say anything without being disagreed with and i'm cool with that)

It's just the love story between MM and TDK that i couldn't get enough of, to put it simply. Their personalities and their character development all felt relatable to me, weirdly enough. It's all put in this complicated setting but at the end of the day I just related to the characters.

I would definitely recommend this to people looking for something to get attached to. I watched 2 episodes per week for 2 months and i'm a sad that i won't be able to get new episodes to look forward to.

Loved DAYS For What It Was!!!

I was so excited for DAYS and I ended up really liking it! The message of life & death and love was so beautiful and that was my biggest take away from the drama (apart from the heart-wrenching and beautiful romance :) )

Plot: This is where I think most of the criticism of the drama is coming from so I will start off with positives since I liked the drama.

PROS:
- THE ROMANCE!!!! This is my first SIG / second PBY drama and I was not disappointed at ALL with the chemistry!! The hugs, stares, tears, hand-holding, the kisses, just everything about them was lovely and convincing of their love for each other. This was probably my favorite part of the drama along with the message <3
- The message of life and death and love was absolutely beautiful and meaningful. The writer did such a beautiful job of making the characters fall in love with their life I would say. We see these characters really distressed and down about life but end up finding joy, despite the storms that came their way and to me this message was so powerful and heartfelt. Because I want this to be spoiler free I won't go into more detail but the message is written so well.
- The inclusion of family/friends/peers. Kind of goes in hand with the message of life but the writer also does a great job showing how much people affect our life and how they help fulfill our life. Throughout the drama, you see how much the people DK's life care about her and ultimately bring her comfort and the love she ever so needed during this time.
- The second lead couple's development in the end. The love triangle was tiring at times but I think that's every love triangle. In the end I loved how the second lead couple ends up and develops through the love triangle.
- All of the characters developed pretty well and realistically (I really don't care about a drama being realistic because it's fiction and entertainment but in the case of this show the development makes sense and also gives us room to think about how they will continue to grow past what we saw).
- The cinematography was gorgeous. Every scene was shot perfectly and added to the dramas quality.
CONS-
- The writer could have dove deeper into the fantasy aspects of the show. Since the show was advertised as a fantasy-romance, I think it would have been helpful if the fantasy was explored more, like the background of Doom. I also think the contract could have been clearer as well. I think many people (including me for a little) were confused on the true basis of the contract but it does become clearer throughout the show.
- The story dragged a bit and was repetitive at times. Somewhere in the middle it does get a little slow and it's because of the writer's repetition. I think the repetition is there to really show the importance of fate in the leads relationship BUT some of that repetition and fluff could have been taken out. If some of the repetition and fluff had been cut out, that time could have been used to further develop the fantasy plot, really show us DK going through her illness, and even take more time to really develop the leads relationship (the stages of hate to love). The leads relationship makes sense and I truly loved it but I do think the writer could have pushed their development more.
- DK's illness kind of became secondary to the story. I would have liked to really see her going through illness since it's a big part of the story. We do see her sick but probably not enough to convince every viewer, especially as her time is running out.

Acting/Cast- BRAVO to the cast!! The acting was superb and super heartfelt. There were moments of comedy to sorrow to joy and all the cast members did a wonderful job portraying all of these emotions and their development. I think the acting being on point was expected because this is a star-studded cast but it was amazing. One thing I do have to say is why didn't they have Kevin/the aunt be a little more believable that they could communicate :/ some of the scenes with Kevin were a bit awkward but he was place in the last episode was good. Also like 1 or 2 of PBY's crying scenes were just a smidge over the top but that just might be me, it didn't take away from the scenes at all for me.

Music- ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF THIS DRAMA!!!! Every, and I mean EVERY song is in my playlist. The ost was THAT good. Such a good job on choosing the artists for DAYS ost, all the songs made me sing along so loud. Every song is definitely imprinted in my mind and will be for a long time. I'm so glad I get to associate such a great ost with a beautiful drama <3

Rewatch Value- There's a good chance I would watch this drama in the future because there was A LOT of symbolism and messages I probably didn't pick up on.

Overall I really enjoyed DAYS. I think if this show was marketed as more of a drama about life, romance, family, friendship, maybe even melodrama, and a little less about fantasy, it would have received much less criticism. I think if you can accept that the writer focused more on her messages and other parts of the drama than the fantasy aspect, you will enjoy this drama. Please, please, please do not watch this drama with expectations of it being like other fantasy romances like Goblin, you will probably ruin your viewing experience. I can say this show is not a typical fantasy romance from what I have watched but it doesn't make the drama less than the ones that are. If anything, I can say it's a rare gem in its genre because of its beautiful story of life/death, family/friends, and love. If you are interested at all about watching this drama, go ahead and watch it!! The worst thing that can happen is you won't like it and there will never be a drama where everyone loves or dislikes it the same. If you ask me, its worth trying to watch!

Happy watching!! :)

When I first saw the trailer .... I knew that I will like this drama.... I had more high expectations... But I won't say that it didn't meet my expectations at all ... It was quite good.. I love this drama for having no antagonist ....The girl deity wasn't a bad person.. I know many people dislike her for some reason... Like forgetting their ( tak dong kyung and myul mang) memories ... But I think that's how their love become more strong ...
I love main leads chemistry ... Only for their chemistry I'm giving 0.5 more rating....
One thing I didn't like was that they didn't had kiss in final episode 😤😤
This is the only complain I have ....

I LOVED all the characters and storylines in this drama.

I LOVED both main leads in this drama. Seo In Guk had some of the best LINES. I thought the FL would be one of those goodie goodie FL's, that are annoyingly nice. But, she wasn't, she can be more savage than the ML from time to time.

I LOVED how the plot of this drama wasn't dragged. Every single episode had its own story, or was an extension to the previous episode. When one storyline ended, another unexpected storyline would start. All the side characters had their own story, whether it's on or off screen, it didn't just focus on the main leads. The main leads story did get kind of boring, the second leads story is similar to the usual love triangle kdramas I watch, and it was really good on it's own. All the characters were connected somehow and all the main characters and the FL's brother had a bond of sorts.

I originally started this drama for Lee Soo Hyuk after Born Again and more so after the Scholar Who Walks the Night. And, I LOVED his charecter, Cha Joo Ik's atitutude was EVERYTHING, again, with really good lines. There is a love triangle in this drama, for the second lead couple, and I LOVED it, because, for a second lead couple, unlike a main couple, there's a possibility for either love intrest to be endgame. And I was shipping Joo Ik hard with Ji Na. I LOVED how all Joo Ik wanted was to litterally be the main lead to Ji Na's novel because her ex, Hyun Gyu was always the main lead to all her other stories.

SPOILERS:
I loved how this drama had a very closed and wrapped up ending. I usually like open ending so I can make up my own ending, but this ending closed the drama perfectly.
I also loved that it had a happy ending, it would have been just as good with a sad ending. Honestly, I was also expecting a happy ending despite the drama having a sad undertone, simply because it constantly gave hints so a happy ending even though every character thought it would be a sad ending.

A boring show driven by the charisma of its stars

A drab story driven by the charisma of its leads
At one point while watching Doom at Your Service, I was so excited about the things that I wanted to say about the show. Now that I have finally finished this show after several months, struggling to reach the end point, I actually don’t have much to say anymore. It is because nothing really exciting ultimately happened in the show. It was my anticipation in the earlier episodes that carried me through, but the show got really boring after seven or so episodes. I couldn’t get what this drama wanted to be. The show genre includes fantasy, but this is far from the truth. Please know that you will be disappointed if you go in expecting any supernatural/ fantasy element to the show. It also cannot be called a slice of life drama because the subplots and the supporting actors don’t seem strong enough. In the end, it is just a story about a terminally ill woman and ties in some philosophies about life in general. There is some romance and comedy but it again it does not fall entirely into any of these genres either. The biggest draws of this show are its leads. You can only make through this show if you are a BIG fan of Park Bo Young and/ or Seo In Guk. It is unfortunate that the charisma and talent of these actors could not make up for the flaws in the script.
Here are some good and bad point about the show –

The good points
Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk
Not only are they really beautiful people, but also incredibly talented actors. I actually started watching the show because of PBY. She is a wonderful actress. The fans of the two lead actors may enjoy seeing them together. They both get ample screen time especially PBY and she’s so good at the emotional scenes. I can actually even watch her doing laundry and other mundane tasks lol. SIG is equally charismatic. His charm and sex appeal made the first few episodes so exciting to watch. He’s actually pretty good at his bad boy act, and I wish the show creators would have kept that side of him till the end. Later in the show his character is dulled down in the attempt to make him more suitable for the FL. PBY and SIG have great chemistry. This was excellent pairing; it is just that the director and the writer didn’t use it to their advantage. I hope to see them together again in a show with a better plot.

First few episodes
The first seven episodes were quite exciting and had me hooked on to the show in anticipation. The production and set design are really good. It’s too bad that the later episodes really dragged and the joy of the first few episodes faded quickly.

Something different
Perhaps, the creators of the show were going for a different vibe here. Even though the show involves deities, they don’t really display their powers explicitly and nothing is too dramatic. I do like subtlety in the shows, but there is a fine line between subtlety and boring, unfortunately, this show crossed over to boring.
Philosophical dialogues about life
This can be both good and bad. There are some thoughtful dialogues in the show about the impermanence of life. So if you enjoy deep conversations about life and such you may enjoy those parts especially between the leads.

FL is not in a love triangle
But her friend is, which is quite refreshing for Kdrama land. In fact I really enjoyed the platonic relationship between Lee Soo Hyuk and PBY. I just wish Lee Soo Hyuk and others’ stories were connected to the main plot.

The bad points
Talky -Talky
This show is more talk, less play, which makes it a dull show lol. Yes, if you have a thing for long drawn out philosophical dialogues, you may not mind it at all. But it became a little boring for me especially toward the end.

No real mystery
Early on in the show, the audience is made to believe that there is some grand mystery waiting to be revealed. But there is not much to it.

Disconnected storylines
The supporting cast includes some very attractive people, but my expectation was that the stories will ultimately connect. Unfortunately, they operate parallel to the main story without any connection. I think these subplots were more intended to be fillers than anything else . Maybe, the writer realized there was no meat to the main plot so these other plots were added to fill up the show’s running time.

The God
At first, I thought that it was very interesting that the god was a little girl but her character is more confusing than inspiring. I wish they would have added more layers to her character and made some of her intentions clearer, in the end it all seemed to lead to nothing.

** Btw lol what’s up with the token white guy. I wish there was more to him. He could have been a Korean uncle and it would have been all the same.

Overall, I recommend the show if you are a fan of SIG and/or PBY or if you’ve insomnia lol if not I think you can pass this one.
