Bit of a let down
This is the lowest review rating for any review I have written so far.Since this drama is a "netflix original" I expected a lot, therefore I waited for the series to finish to bingewatch (my mistake...). The set-up of the series is quite chaotic and the graphics in the first episode are pretty bad. It takes a while to realize what the storyline is about in the first few episodes. Most often it does not take much for me to finish a series and be content with it. The series had a lot of potential which was not realized, which is the main reason for the low rating. The character development of most side characters was quite unsatisfactory like King Qin'guang or the other sidekick. The storyline from the past also had some plotholes if you ask me.. In the beginnign you may ask yourself why each ghost story seems so random, luckily that answered mid-series. The ending was in a way satisfactory but not entirely what I was looking for.
The acting was not super. I just liked the way Mike He looks (yes a bit to biased) and how he acts as boyfriend. The acting of Ivy Shao and Jane Cheng was a bit to robotic at times. Anson Chen however, made an impressive twist (you will find out). Also the character development of Roy Chang was likeable (how he went from 'bad to good'), I know a bit to biased.
Don't remember much from the music.
And would defintely not rewatch this.
All in all I would not recommend the series, unless they make remake with a better storyline (and less plotholes) (also maybe some better acting).

Slooooooooow
Liked the idea / story, but sadly, for me it was poorly executed.Mike He and some supporting actors carried the story, but otherwise I found the lines delivered far too slowly and the acting wooden. The lead female seemed to mumble most of the time and conveyed little emotion, even when crying. This made it hard for me to connect with many of the characters.
The story seemed to twist and turn more to extend it than enrich it. When some characters were having a tough time or their personalities changed, it often went unnoticed by those closest to them, which I found odd.
I didn't find it at all gripping or exciting, but did like Mike He, Anson Chen, Johnny Yang and Amanda Chou.
I liked the music too, especially the title song.

It’s actually okay
this drama is actually okay, completed in 3-4 days? Started this drama without any idea on what this is about and turns out that it's a Taiwanese drama... I feel that the CGI for this drama is pretty bad compared to other dramas but after a few episodes it starts to get better. Throughout this drama, I didn't feel that it was boring at all, I just felt that it was super lengthy (not draggy, just too many episodes and each episode duration is about 1h15mins). I feel that it's not easy to grasp the main point of this drama at the start. The kissing scenes made me lowkey cringe but yea it's fine :). I feel that this drama was overall a very average drama but personally I wont recommend this. If u want a simple drama to watch whenever ur doing smth, u can watch this drama. Decided to write a review on this as I feel that this drama isn't bad like what others have saidEsta resenha foi útil para você?

Started out good but the end was not satisfying
So the first I'd say half of the series were good, it was kind of a mystery trying to solve all the bad things happening. Also, you went on this journey with the main female character while she tries to remember her past all the while dealing with ghosts, a mysterious man (the King of ghosts) that quite literally fell out of the sky who seems to know her but then tries to act like he doesn't. Then you get to about the middle and all the sudden she gets whacked by a ghost and he ends up giving her all her memories of who she was back turns out she's a god and he's a god. The original malicious spirit ends up just being a dad who was murdered before he could take revenge for his daughter, but then you find out there's a bigger evil being that was behind all they mysteries and the malicious spirit figuring out how to return to the mortal world. By about episode 15 I knew who the bigger evil being was even though they kept trying to reflect suspicion from him. I hate saying anything bad about the actors because I couldn't do their jobs but maybe in other shows and other roles he's great in this one he was horrible. Every time he had to be really evil his eyes would get real big almost bug eyed, his mouth would open wide to show of his teeth (seriously reminded me of horse teeth) he'd do these stupid I guess supposed to be evil laughs, and he'd get one ridiculous demon hand with the long black nails that were red at the skin I guess so you think they grew out of it so they were bloody maybe, but literally just one hand. His arm can also just grow long so he can reach out and touch you across the room. Then he'd try to make his voice I guess sound like what he thinks a demon would but he sounded stupid. It was seriously bad over acting. By the 16th episode I was over seeing his face completely. The whole time you're watching from about episode 12- 16 or 17 you can't help but wonder if these characters are all stupid because it's so obvious who the bad guy is. Oh and he's a bad guy because 1000 years ago the lead female dared to love someone else and not him and chose to die instead of be with him. Like get over it. Even in modern day she still wants nothing to do with him, and he's obsessed. Yet at one point she acts like if she stays with him he'll magically just get over his obsession. From episode 17-19 there's a whole lot of sitting around just waiting. Finally you get to the last episode and you think okay now there can be this showdown how will the beat this "big evil" and literally there is the worst little battle and then the guy literally disintegrates and gets sucked into the sky with no explanation of where he went, is he gone for good, is he dead? Who knows they never again mention it. The main female leads friend who through the entire show is tormented and put under and evil spell but only ends up holding onto a small amount of humanity due to this guy that falls for her ends up losing him because he dies protecting her, though we find out later that they a couple that each time the reincarnate will end up back together. You think the main female dies because it's never fully explained that when she gets her memories of her original life 1000 years ago she loses her god status and her soul starts to dissipate. They never explain why she loses her god status but the King of ghosts was able to remember 1000 years ago and his past life with her. It ends up that Queen of I believe the underworld uses a loophole so that she doesn't disappear for good and gains back her status of a god but under a different person like everyone is stupid and doesn't think oh she looks just like the god that got sucked down to earth. Just by far so many holes in the story and just unsatisfying. It could have been a great story but the acting wasn't that good and parts were predictable. Then just left with no real satisfying kill of the bad guy, he just poofs into the sky and who knows where he went. 10/10 don't recommend wasting the time to watch this.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Spoiler Rants
First music video curse where the school is in danger, students are losing their souls and became mindless bodies around the campus after listening to the video of Chen Ze Xuan playing on the cursed piano. If the video goes viral, the world would be in trouble. Story Logic Flaw! How will the video go viral? Who is going to like and share the video, if the person watching and listening became a MINDLESS zombie!Main characters are always portrayed as generous, sincere and perfect. Friendships in this show is very shallow. They keep talking about brotherhood and sisterhood, but they are all selfish and only call their friends when they are in need. At least Meng Po tries to save her one and only friend. Zhong Kui only calls on others when he needs information and help. If they don't have anything that will help with his situation he tells them off, " disappear", "why are you still here?" and such. Zhong Kui also takes Oouyang Kai as a disciple/ student, but teaches him NOTHING. Oouyang Kai is just an errand boy who does everything Zhong Kui tells him to do.
Meng Po is all in all nice and sincere character. She sacrifices herself for others, she's an outstanding mixologist and basically a typical damsel in distress no matter how you look at it. Overall, she is a bland and boring stereotypical character, who is only interesting because of the situation and events that occurred in her past.
Lu bo ya..., got this creepy smile and awkwardness going on that keeps you guessing whether he is good or bad. In hind sight, I would say bad acting, because if he "acted" good and sincere, it would make his character more believable as a nice, warm and perfect person. It would give the later story a better punch. Unless that was the actor's good and sincere acting, then I'm disappointed. Either way, it might not be the actor's fault and more what the production/director wanted. Lu bo ya shines and becomes more lovable as a character after his change later in the series.
Oouyang Kai is naive, because he is young and carefree. He's mostly useful to the other characters, because he has money, a car and desperate for friends. He's loyal, faithful to a flaw, caring not just to the girl he loves, but to his friends as well. He's the goofball, always with smile, always glad to see his friends. He has his own little flaws, plus no supernatural powers or knowledge. He's nobody special, just a normal "boring" human being. He is the only likable and sincere character to root for and care about.
En Xi is a good friend, who could not help herself fall into a love triangle. She has a difficult life from the beginning. From death of father, addicted mother, classmates and faculty discrimination, being controlled by her crush to do bad deeds, so on and so forth. Being torn between her best friend, doing the right thing and staying on the good side of someone she loves. Did she ever have a chance? Poor girl! It is what makes her perfect to be the key/guide. I'm glad that Oouyang Kai was always there for her, but at the same time... she just never gets a break.

Omg! Edge of your seat ride!
It's been a while since I watched a show that transfixed me enough to finish it in a day and a half I've just gotten introduced to kdramas and fantasies I'm from the US so if it wasn't for Netflix I would have never gotten introduced to these at all, I'm intrigued at how wonderful a lot of these shows are I thought because I would have to read subtitles it would get boring after a while but in a way it only makes you more transfixed on it because you don't miss a word that's going on the actors were great the storyline was great I'm just really hoping for a season 2!Esta resenha foi útil para você?

The ending pays off
It started off great, with Gods fighting ghosts using their special powers, with scenes in the underworld as well as in the human world. As the story goes on, some of the characters who were really present in the beginning kinda disappear for a long time, but not because they were dead or anything. There's a love triangle, but everybody knows that deep down the girl couldn't care less about one of them, completely in love with the other one. So it's not really exciting. Actually, it's rather boring or distressfull because it's pointless.
Nonetheless, this and other things tend to make sense as the end approaches. We finally meet the villain behind it alll.
Also, the rhythm of the show is a bit too slow sometimes, but the ending paid off, surprisingly good!
So, if you like doramas with magic and sword fights, you might give it a go, but lower your expectations and linger on.

Just awful...
I am 10 minutes into episode 2, but i just could not stand it anymore... I do like fantasy stories with magic, but the lead actors in this show have no chemistry at all... The female lead is somewhat cute, but she has no sex appeal... She looks like someone's 10-year old little sister, hence I find it hard to believe she is someone's love interest... This is so silly - poor plotting, bad acting... I am not wasting my time, I am dropping it...Submit failed, it should be 500 words... So, here goes... Xxxx xxx xxxx xxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxx xxxx xxxx xx xx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx. Xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx
