Ending matter so much

This isn't usually what I go for yet it has sparked hope for other Chinese dramas.
Chen yu were my favourite character but still waiting for my smile from him as it is rare for him to be carefree. At times I wanted to yell at him myself because of what he did but we didn't get that chance. Yang Yi was a true friend of his willing to put him with his actions with no explanations
WZF was a compelling character with his story that I enjoyed watching him but at times he made stupid decisions one is not ever fully trust Chen Yu
The ending, I like cliffhangers usually as it makes you question what is happening yet I wanted to see what was going to happen as there was no explanation

It really is more about Being a Hero than Being a Friend

So, over all this is actually a good show. That's an objective opinion based purely on the plot and acting. But the write up for the show is NOT accurate, since it makes it sound like it's about Chen Yu and Wu Zhengfeng, 'childhood friends', working together through some personal hang ups and misunderstandings as well as all the drug dealing mess to solve their issues and a case, but the show barely focused on them.

Basically, this show is about drug dealers and cops, in general. There are many characters doing many things and CY and WZF are barely a side story for 80% of the show. So if you're looking for a story about the MLs friendship struggles/moments with the cop/drug drama on the side, this show will not deliver, it's the opposite way around. It will however, tell an interesting story about some local cops and drugs dealers with some bad history and it has some good scenes and interesting developments.
Let's start with...

THE GOOD;
- As I mentioned, the acting is good for everyone here, but especially amongst the drug dealer/addict casting imo. Most of the characters don't behave all that predictably either, which is good in any show about suspense and crime. For example, at first we get the impression Hao Dong is very calm and dangerous, but as the show goes on, we see he's actually quite a mess and he loses his cool and composure quite hysterically. Quite a few characters had interesting behaviour as the show went on, ranging from serious to mildly amusing, to confusing.
- I like Lan AnRan as a female character in a cop show, I think she should have had more of a presence in the show.
- Good budget for this.
- Entertaining over all, albeit with a slow start.

THE (mildly) BAD;
- The show has a really slow start. I actually watched until episode six the first time, and then shelved it for months before I picked it up again. The show really only gets going in faster pacing around episode 20 or 21, which is not a good thing for someone who doesn't have the patience for a slow build story.
- Some of the dialogue scenes are waaaay too drawn out.
- Chen Yu's character is basically a clown (and comes across as a less than adept cop) for more than half of this show. I actually had no idea how he missed some things, was surprised by how no one noticed him tailing/following them, and why he did a lot of things he was doing. Also, his superiors and even WZF made him look like an idiot a lot of the time, but not out-rightly. Sort of like, they think he can't handle anything, so they leave him running around without a clue, making him look like a twat. I found this both funny and frustrating. But when he finally caught on, it was much better.
- Chen Yu and Wu ZhengFeng barely seem like friends, let alone good friends. They hardly seemed to give a shit about what the other was feeling or suffering for the most part, but then in the final episodes when they finally get on the same page, it seemed forced how they were suddenly all BFF's and gung-ho about protecting each other like it was a competition. LOL.
- Yang Yi being shot the way it happened was not well directed imo, because the way he tried to arrest Yang XingQuan didn't follow any logical police safety procedure (trying to grab his hands and cuff him from the front??) or proper training. An actual struggle between them or YXQ just shooting Yang Yi before he even got close enough would have felt more organic.

There was nothing UGLY in this drama, so I'll move on to...
THE HIGHLIGHTS;
- Chen Xiao as Wu ZhengFeng was good casting I think. He looked both shady and oddly innocent, which suited the character he was playing.
- When Chen Yu was pretending to be a drug dealer the first and second time, those were highly entertaining moments, once again making me want to watch WY play the role of a bad guy.

A one time watch for this is fine, if you can make it through twenty episodes of slow build.

Watched 15 episodes so far.

I wasn't sold with show's premise at first but I continued because of the nice cinematography and directing. Characters started growing on me and I'm fully invested with the story now. It's very well-acted, has fleshed-out characters, nuanced relationships/dynamics, strong dialogue.

The side arcs/plots are neatly done and always connected with the main plot. Most episodes might seem slow-paced but it's not boring to me at all. Conversation between the characters are interesting and adds to the story. I also personally like the complex politics between the different factions (police force, rival drug gangs etc) and how characters interact within them.

Top 3 characters at the moment: An Ran, Chen Yu, Wu Zhen Feng

I think,this series has the strong plot.We cannot guess the plot.And,the casts star as their characters like reality.All of them are really good at acting.I also love Wang Yibo's acting skill.He is young nevertheless he is talented.He can act with seniors like professional actors.He is really enthusiastic next he deserves to be famous.Finally,there is no fliter using for casts.So,this fact is my most favourite one form this series.Most of the movies use the filter and ut makes the actors and actress to be pale.We can know how much dangerous of the drugs and it makes me feel.The title is extremely good and the world does not wants the drugs.

A drama that'll make you question everything you see previously.

The drama is still airing & have only released 9/32 episodes so my review about it may change. However, from what i've seen so far, this drama is totally worth it esp for those who love a good police drama.
The relationships between the characters proved to be quite intriguing and all of the important casts are very good actors in bringing their characters to live.
What i really like about this drama apart from the casts is how every episode will keep making you change your mind about particular character. My first impression and understanding about the story and the characters changed as the story progress.
The cinematography is also quite interesting and match the atmosphere of the story perfectly. However I do find some of the edited parts a bit abrupt and at time, confusing. Good thing is most of the time it will become clear in the next scenes so the story flows smoothly.
I believe this drama still have a lot to offer.

Good Police Drama

Honestly, I rarely watch police drama . Being A hero storyline and plot are really intriguing & fast pace !! action scenes are well-executed!!! Directing and editing is really well !! When they talked about the past , we knew automatically due to different pale color !! There is no over flittering !!! Chen Yu is look serious, active , enthusiastic cop , but at same time he is mischievous naughty boy in drama !!
Good chemistry between main leads , Chen yu & Cheif Lin are funny !!! Also funny and good chemistry between cops !!!
I finished 9 episodes now !! I understand plot really well !! Can’t wait to watch new episodes!!!
I want to know how they catch the real drug dealer and who is undercover !!!!

Strong friendship between a cop and a lost soul fighting for his father's innocence

This drama is amazing it's Action thriller Male friendship drama that aired recently but it's not BL ,, it's just complicated friendship between two best friends who got separated to drug war between police and drug dealers that got the male lead's parent's killed and implicated his father of being a drug dealer ,,, it left his son desperate for the truth so he became one of them or presumably one of the drug dealers and addicts on the other hand his best friend who was raised with him in his home became a policeman and a detective ,, he tried to help him by investigating his father's case but the police force isn't trust worthy either so the tension and the doubt of every one was the main theme throughout the drama ,,,
Sorry I made small synopsis of the drama first now what I feel about it
the Pacing is really good ,, it doesn't have boring long dialogues ,, may be a bit long investigative scenes and interrogations but it's all fun to watch
It did confuse me at first but later on things got a little clearer and it supposed to be mysterious of course at the beginning
it made me doubt the police and actually kind of trust the male lead who is the most suspicious person in the whole drama
I noticed that the male lead get beaten by everyone every single episode ,, he's too thin and haggard like hell and he got beaten too much to the point of exaggeration ,,, no body can handle all that beatings without actual physical injuries so I was annoying sometimes that he put himself in harms way for a small detail or just to play some trick and get that horrible beatings
the male lead is supposed to be drug addict but it didn't show much of that or how he overcomes his addiction
also his so called best friend is freezing called to him and very tough on him ,, beat him sometimes too but he actually cares for him and what he does mostly in his every second of the day is thinking about his friend and the case
china threw a girl on Wang Yibo's character as a love interest out of no where just to pass censorship and it shows clearly she just there to be his girl friend nothing more
Wang Yibo's character actually lives in this drama for his best friend ,, didn't see his character does anything else but worrying about his best friend hence the Bromance
there are strong Bromance scenes ,, friendship scenes between the two male leads but it had it's limitations of course due to what we all know
I talked alot sorry but I actually loved this drama and enjoy it so much
it still on air didn't finish and I'm so scared that they will kill the male lead at the end ,, I see it has strong possibility of him getting killed at the end ,,, we shall wait and see ,, I hope not
I recommend this drama so much to people who likes action thriller and bromance dramas

Good cast, Good overall plot but unrealistic writing and plot holes

It started off good. You didn't know who was the bad guy or good guy and it was fun figuring the whole web of characters out. But as the story progressed i couldn't help but feel that some parts of the writing and dialogue just didn't make sense. I watched for Wang Yibo but stayed for Chen Xiao. He did such a good job with his character it was compelling.

[SPOILERS ALERT]

I need to rant about this series.

When Chen Yu and WZF started working together, they brought back important documents obtained with a warrant back to their own apartment. Why? I understand that they thought the police station and some people could not be trusted with the USB data WZF gave and that they would have to hand it over for review. But bringing it back to their apartment??? Which is a cafe??? Which is in no way a secured area???? Careless! They're just asking for it to be taken from them. No way the dealers would let evidence slip by like that???

Also, the way Chen Yu said they have to make WZF trust them to obtain info from him only to badger him to reveal whatever he knows at every second of the day thereafter. Like just hear a man out and stop asking him to reveal everything every time the dude opens his mouth?? Maybe this was how Chen Yu was supposed to be written cos he has zero EQ for a cop.

But the scene that takes the cake for me (in a bad way) was when Chen Yu went to infiltrate Wan Logistics to obtain the past records and not only did he kick over an empty water container, he forgot to silence his phone. That's like infiltration 101. What sort of policeman (who supposedly graduated with top honours) would fail to silence his phone while sneaking into somewhere?! And while that was happening, his girlfriend (who shouldn't even know anything about the case because what happened to confidentiality) was in a club following a potential drug suspect, alone, with no back-up. ??? She is a civilian! What did she think would happen? And then when they got rescued, I was waiting for the line that said 'it's not Chen Yu's fault, i went there without him knowing" but instead she kept quiet. This is the sort of writing i find wholly unrealistic because surely being with someone working in this sort of job should come with some awareness of danger. Why would you go alone to a place you're 70% sure contains druggies that you're trying to catch???? You're just asking to get caught???

Also the case of Jiang Lei being repeatedly mentioned by multiple caught drug dealers but not on a suspects list at all. Ever since that info came out it has been buried under the rug. Aren't they at least suspicious that these dealers know your nephew's name? Doesn't that mean he has had dealings with them on more than one occasion? It's no wonder this team can't solve anything for 3 years.

Maybe I'm overly critical of these series. The actors and actresses played their parts well according to the script. But I personally think the script was not very well written in terms of character actions and reactions as well as character interactions. I would still continue to watch it for the plot and I'm still eager to see the conclusion. I just feel it's a pity that a show with what would have been a good storyline be made subpar by holes in the writing.
