Outstanding………
What a beautiful, heartbreaking depiction of what it is to be a young gay boy in Japan, and going by the other reviews from mainly gay men it seems to represent current Japanese society’s attitude to homosexuality. The acting from everyone was superb, it was an unusual in-depth examination of the struggle that some gay people go through and it was so sensitively portrayed. I found Korean drama by accident on Netflix during covid and through this discovered Japanese drama, a whole different ballgame! The quirkiness of the storylines, the oh so beautiful Japanese men (not only gay dramas i promise!).I love the depth of the storylines in Japanese drama and Fujoshi, Ukkari Gei ni Kokuru was no exception, it was just beautiful and I will definitely be watching it again; if you haven’t seen it yet I envy you, you have a lovely four hours of your life ahead of you…………Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Was not expecting that.
To be honest I really thought it would be a light and cute story because I've got into it completely blind only with the synopsis saying "A closeted gay senior finds out his classmate is a BL fan" and mate! was I surprised? How deep and hard to watch this story is.Andou e Miura relationship is so pure. And Ryohei and Andou mother loves him so much, it is beautiful.
It's kinda obvious that both him and Jun were groomed, and unlike some comments I've seen I don't think it was romanticised, I think it was plain shown and we got to the conclusion, it's a very "Japanese way" to show this kinda relationship actually.
This series deserves more recognition, It's from 2019 and I've never heard of it before.

A straight romance drama in disguise
loved the cast performance and quality of the series but the whole story makes you ask whats the purpose of this series? somethings were also problematic but presented as something nice. it's a straight romance drama in disguise of a bl, you think a drama talking about the BL community and gay community will at least present the gay community well but let me tell you it is not!! although its relatable on some degree, i don't think its good to recommend on people who wants to understand LGBTQ+.Let me tell you about the problematics
1. A MARRIED GUY WITH A STUDENT - it was consensual and was portrayed actually well, like it's an intimate relationship but how the hell is this right? why is everyone ignoring this and thinking its good!? if I were married, I wouldn't wanna know my husband sleeps with someone else.. also they didn't tell the wife(?) the wife doesn't know about him literally cheating, their relationship is already dead for me, he might want to save his wife from drowning but I hope he dies in that process so I can rest in peace knowing his wife isn't with a bastard.
2. PEDOPHILE- oh my god also this!! fahrenheit is a 15 years old KID, I dont remember how old the person he was seeing but he's obviously not in the age to actually be in one, especially with the freaking big age gap! He might have fallen in love but he's obviously too young for it.. which also explains the immaturity that the kid followed the predator to his death bed and committed unaliving themselves..
3. Message & Presentation to gay people - it was clear that our protagonist is gay but is in-denial and started being a horrible character. On episode 7, they had to seriously make them kiss!? I thought he was gay.. the cheers seriously gave me deja vu of people making those loud noises on proposals so I was like, whats happening? I thought after he was outed, he would be confident and break-up with the girl, cause that girl was obviously hurting but ofcourse he didnt but the girl broke-up with him in the end which if that didn't happen, they would still be together.. every episode just made him less gay more bi when the series is literally about a gay person.. Also the no1 and no2 are gay relationships which are not a good presentation on gay relationships at all..
it seems to me the director tried to create something that gay people can relate to without actually talking to one or even meeting gay people that are in GOOD & HEALTHY relationships not something illegal.

Not badly done but overall I dont think it would be very relatable to LGBT people.
Writing this as a lesbian + occasional reader of BL. I will also say that I cannot understand the mindset of fujoshis and think that many BL tropes are demeaning to LGBT people. Most of the plot points about being gay are present in many other gay coming-of-age tv/movies. So as someone who has seen a lot of those, I didn't feel particularly moved. But I think that all of them are true to what real life gay people face, and it doesn't contain anything I would consider homophobic or misinformation. Although the show deals with heavy issues like suicide/relationships with a large age gap, I think it handled those pretty well.
I really liked both the leads. Even though I couldn't sympathise with Miura at the start, I felt really sorry for her when she was being led on by Jun. I think that the story is an OK representation of how everyone is hurt when gay people enter into this sort of relationship.
The use of Queen songs felt heavy-handed, maybe because the English lyrics sometimes matched up too well with the scene. It felt almost comedic at times. But the use of Queen in the story was good and gave it a strong theme.
Overall I thought this show was OK, and had moments where I could relate a lot to Jun. But some of the more BL centric plot points felt far fetched.

"...MOJE TĚLO CHCE ZOUFALE ŽÍT, ZATÍMCO UVNITŘ UŽ JSEM DÁVNO MRTVEJ..." Překvapivě krásný a nezměrně hluboký japonský projekt zaujme především gay diváka.
