I really loved this one soso much! I watched the whole series without a break from the first Episode to the last episode. The chemistry was too good to be true and felt so real that i think i won’t be able to forget third and khai for the rest of my life like ohmygod xD. Their acting was on fire i could literally feel every emotion (when they were crying it was just art!) that’s why i can say for me that it‘s ~better than every bl series i have watched. I didn’t really like The female characters tho.. they were crazy and annoying. Even though the main characters fitted so well to them (waaay too well) I must say that Theory of love is my favorite bL. I won’t be able to forget this for some time now :(

Makes you wanna bang your head against the wall in slow burn but you love it

Yeah the headline pretty much summarizes it. It's technically a romcom, but the kind where you're crying for the most part.
It really captures the tropes and the cheesiness of romance movies pretty well. But the highlight is the angst. And evidently, we all LOVE angst.
Okay, starting off, I don't think I need to even say anything about the acting. OffGun are amazing, and so are Mike, White, and Earth. The supporting actors also did really well, especially the ones who played Lynn and Paan.
The OST is absolutely my favorite. Nothing beats it, except maybe The Untamed.
Okay, coming to the plot: I really love it. Maybe its just the angst lover in me but the different spins on unrequited love really got me.
On my first watch I spent the first half basically cussing Kai out. The amount of hatred I felt for him at that point was off the charts. On your first watch you're watching from Third's pov and empathizing with him so Kai really does seem like a total jackass. But rewatching it honestly gave me a completely different perspective on it: the first time round I didn't really register how much Third was responsible for his own suffering. For the most part, Kai was oblivious, and can you blame him? Third barely let his feelings show. But yes, Kai did take Third for granted and was in general as ass who didn't show his friends enough care. The "breaking his heart so he goes back to being my friend" kiss though? Total dick move.
But the key point of the first half was that more than just being in love with Kai, Third was too attached to the concept of romance and looking at his life through a cinematic lens. He romanticized the idea of unrequited love, his favorite romance movies telling him that if he's dedicated enough one day his love will be returned. Which is why I like how Third gets disillusioned and then detaches himself from the concept of love and his dedication to it, prioritizing himself and his sanity. And that is where the switch flips, and we see the rest of the story from Kai's pov. And this is how we slowly start falling for Kai. I'll be honest, nothing in the first half really hurt me as much as that scene with Kai, heartbroken after the movie scene, rehearsing the lines again and again following Third's instruction to be more energetic, but at the same time tears are falling down his face as he realizes this is how Third must have felt all those times. Maybe it's coz he spends most of the series with a smile on his face, but whenever he cries (especially when he's forcing a smile but ends up crying) it just hits so much harder.
The accident arc was kinda not my thing, but it served its purpose I guess. The arc with the junior girl and "I don't want to love you anymore, it hurts" - so. much. pain. But worth it. It was needed, coz Third was obviously still insecure, and Kai couldn't really find the balance between overcompensating for what he did before and actually talking stuff out. He tried to just pretend nothing happened and if he just shows Third enough love he'll forget it, but he just ended up setting himself up for heartbreak. The train scene hits hard coz we feel that sense of abandonment, of being forgotten, but it's also a time lapse of Kai finally letting go of the false hope he had that everything would magically become fine, which actually lasts even until Third comes there - he's still pretending everything's fine and as if he didn't wait all day for people who (inadvertently) ditched him, but Third hugging him is the final straw that makes him break down.
The flow kinda dies down after that though, the last episode doesn't really live upto the peak in this one.
Then there's the side ships. I kind of like how all of their stories play into the idea of unrequited love. Two has been pining after Lynn for years but doesn't realize that he's also on the receiving end of unrequited love until much later - by that time, he actually returns the feelings, but he had been so caught up in his old crush that he didn't acknowledge them. Poor Lynn though, girl seems to have a hard time finding love, first that jackass of a boyfriend, and then the guy who loved her having fallen for someone else by the time they got together. I really liked the Bone and Paan story though, in that they let it remain unrequited. Beyond the awkwardness of the student-teacher dynamic, that's the most realistic course of an unrequited love - the object of your affection probably does not feel the same way about you and probably does not realize that you've put them on a pedestal and are looking at them through rose-tinted glasses. But Bone shows the true selflessness of love, even unrequited, when he decides to choose Paan's happiness over a chance for him to (possibly) win her over. Bone best boy. Be like Bone, everyone.

Overall, this is the kind of show I would consider a classic, a must-watch. There's a lot to love about it, be it the movie references, the pining and angst, the portrayal of romance, the iconic scenes. The verdict is that if you haven't watched it, you absolutely should.

What a wonderful series

I went into this series pretty much guaranteeing myself that I wasn't gonna like it because I don't usually like drama's where one of the main characters is basically being emotionally tortured by watching their secret love sleep around with someone else(or in this case, multiple people). Although I know it is a reality some live with, it's not particularly something I like watching. But when I pushed past some of those parts, I did really enjoy this series A LOT. I enjoyed the fact that the series took it's time, it didn't feel as rushed as some others that I've watched. The acting was really good and I can relate to a lot of the interests of some of the characters. They're all so funny and creative and that's something I appreciate. I've said this before but I do enjoy stories with characters who don't exactly know their sexuality yet, or at least their unaware of their feelings for a specific person, which doesn't necessarily mean they have to change their label or call themselves anything they're not comfortable with. This series has that and I think it makes for an interesting plot. I liked the fact that prior to them ever getting together, they were best friends... which to me makes their relationship more precious. It's kind of something that everyone secretly wants. It's very comfortable love. I also really appreciate the dynamic between the 4 of them as friends. They're really good friends to each other and have genuinely good intentions to help and support each other. It's very cute.
Oh, and not to mention that I'm a fan of film so some of the movie references in this series was really awesome to see. I honestly would watch it if they made a sequel or a spin-off. but even if they didn't, I'm very satisfied with what I was given.
I would watch this series again. Maybe not back to back but give me a month or two and I'd totally binge it again.

definitely recommend! <3

(ima keep this short coz i hate reading long reviews)
Story 10/10: Maybe its because I relate so much to this story but I absolutely loved it! It wasn't a cringe or an unrealistic story like some other dramas except for the girls MOBBING Khai wherever he went, yeah no that doesn't happen irl-?

Acting:10/10
Fist off the acting is chefs kiss , Gun literally brings P'Third's character to life! And Off (Khai) too like wow! Even the background characters (Paan, Fai, Pun ) they killed this!!

Music: 10/10
YAS IM IN LOVE WITH TAHT ONE SONG FROM THE FIRST 4 EPISDOES SORRY IDK THAI BUT THE SONG IS SO BEAUTIFUL I LOVE IT ?

Rewatch value: 8/10
I dont really rewatch shows but ig maybe in at least a couple months

Overall: 9.5/10
I dont really have much to say except for the annoying girls everything is good (btw my favorite couple is P'Un and P'Two there literally so cute together ???)

Soo I'm only gonna comment on the storyline here, bc that's the thing that is most important to me when watching a series.

The beginning was meh. I really hate when one of the main characters are treated badly. I can accept it if it's enemies to lovers or even in this scenario where Khai doesn't know about his best friend's crush on him... but it lasted 7 EPISODES until Khai was somewhat behaving like a friend to Third. Like he was treating him like absolute TRASH. That's not even how friends behave towards each other, this was just straight up using him for his own gain. I know the whole premise is to show that "Khai loves no one but himself", but then he shouldn't have any friends in the first place if you treat your best friend like that.

After that, when Khai realizes his love for Third, things got a bit better. I kinda enjoyed watching the episodes until Khai kisses that Girl WITHOUT saying anything about it. Later on we find out that he didn't like that and that she started it... BUT WHY AREN'T YOU TELLING THAT THIRD SOONER??? (Also i couldn't understand that Two left Third with Khai alone, even though he was visibly not okay with him being there?? Like listen to ur bestie? He's not in a good place rn and then u go against his wishes??)

So I watched until episode 11 2/4 and then skipped through the rest. Didn't like it very much, so i will probably never rewatch it.
The actors were good tho, so I'll watch another BL of them.

I almost missed out on this - keyword is "almost". I was searching the site for some dramas to watch while I wait for the new episode of 2gether to air, and I remember scrolling past Theory of Love. The summary got me curious but didn't conviece me fully. Despite of that somehow I got back to it's page re-reading the stuffs said there and finally I tought why not give it a shot?
I'm thankful I did.

I really liked that this drama wasn't just about someone who felt in love with his best friend, and then some times later said best friend also started to like him and they got together. No, it was about how much unrequited love can hurt you. If you like/love someone from far away, like you guys are just acquaintances and speak only twice a week maybe, it would be bearable. But if this person just happens to be your best friend, you're doomed. Doomed, beacuse of all the "what if"-s running through you head. You don't want to lose your best friend, but what if you have a little chance and you could be happy? What if don't? You could lose them forever. Also you have to put up a mask and be there everytime they introduce you their new girlfriend/boyfriend and pretend you're just as happy as they are, but in the inside you're dying. Maybe you're really happy for them, but at the same time thinking "this could be us, too". This type of dramas is usually not my cup of tea, but Theory of Love proved me wrong.

Khai is a total idiot (and it's an absolute understatement but I don't want to use too harsh words here) whom I despised in the first few episodes. I felt sorry towards Third. The only thing he was guilty of is the love he felt towards his best friend, who treated him shit. I wanted to hug him and be his new best friend and wanted to punch Khai in the face for mistreating the only people who truly loved him for years. Even if he wasn't in love with Third yet - you only have one best friend who sticks with you through good and bad and you shouldn't treat him/her in such way. So yeah, I guess I felt satisfied when Third started to move on from Khai and wanted to forget him as a potential lover and boyfriend. And I felt even more joy when Khai - surprise, surpise! - started to fall in love with Third in return. I got to see the way he suffered from the constant rejection from Third.

I liked the other two characters too - Bone and Two. Especially Two, who was a great friend and showed support towards Third when he discovered the truth about he liking Khai. Those four were always together but Two never hesitated to stand up against Khai if he hurt Third. In episode 11 (and SPOILERS ahead, you've been warned!) when Two didn't go to their planned trip because Third wasn't going either shows really how protective he is. He was ready to stay behind with him without a second tought. Everyone should have this kind of people in their lives.
This was also that moment when we could see the change in Khai's behavior. Nobody showed up in the train station - not even Bone; okay, not for the same reason as Two, but still -, but Khai stayed where he was, sitting on the bench for a whole day waiting for his friends to show up because he promised them he will be there, no excuses. He wanted to prove them he can change for Third's sake.

At the end it was good to see how their future turned out - although this part was a bit rushed in my opinion. But that's the only negative part I can say about this drama. It was a great experience to watch it until the end, and I'm sure I'll rewatch it in the future.

Relatable and Heartbreaking

I watched this BL Series twice already. Very relatable story tho. Like falling in love with your ..... (No spoilers allowed hahaha). GURL very heartbreaking story but it ended perfectly. Hoping for a 2nd season but i'm not sure if it's possible. There are things that the main actor did that I also did in real life. Planning to rewatch it again if I want to reminisce some moments in my life lol. well... i'll think about it.

Acting was good. OST was good, it's available on spotify hahaha.

I would highly recommend this if you want to be FLIPPED. ;)

Sometimes a series just goes by touching your heart.... I wouldn't say that this was THE best series.. But it was a very good one... Every character was well thought of... Every dialogue added something of importance to the story and there was no nonsensical side characters....

I personally could actually feel the emotions of the characters..... The actors were excellent...
All in all watch it for something different.. For something that is very simple but yet not very common... FLIPPED

So promising for BL industry

To me, this series is so underrated, yes it's well known but not many people seem to realize how well-made is the series, quality of cinematography and all those references to romantic movies contribute to make this series so good. Also, the acting of Gun was impressive (wich make me want to see him in more big series that could challenge him a bit, like in this series or in the gifted), , but also I must congrat Off: he improved so much since puppy honey. Anyway, the story was really wonderful because we were able to identify and understand both of those characters. The side story with Bone was also really realistic and beautiful.
The only flaw is that AnTwo story isn't really developed.

I'm seriously in love

Before we get into anything and because sPoIlErs, I would just like to say I HIGHHHHLLLLLYYYYY RECOMMEND THIS. HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE, This had me going through emotional rollercoasters every 3 seconds.

Everything about this series was so beautiful. In terms of cinematography, I was astonished, The sets were beautiful and they know how to capture from so many angles and were able to show us the character's emotions by that.

The whole theme of the series is really really interesting and something I've never seen before. The way each episode was the name of a movie was incerdibly genius and how each episode really had represented its title.

Don't get me started on the acting and the storyline. The actors were insanely talented, Not even lying I only watched this because I knew Gun was an amazing actor and he REALLY is, The way he potrayed Third is just pure talent, EVERYONE else made me go crazy with how great they were at acting and how well they potrayed their characters.. I swear to god.

At first sight, the plot seemed pretty heartbreaking to me but at the same time it was simple. There wasn't many unnessecary conflicts and it was great. Each scene was interesting to watch and I couldn't get enough of it.

The character development was a little unexpected to me which makes it rEALLY good. Okay but I can't praise Off enough for how he potrayed Khai, I went from hating him to falling in absolute love with the character. Khai is actually one of the most interesting character's I've ever seen.

There were three scenes that actually drove me to tears. First, the scene where Khai and Bone were talking at the bar's bathroom and Third overhears them, That scene made my heart drop, It really showed how Khai couldn't be trusted then.. it tore me.

The second one was the scene where Khai goes to the beach to "clear his head" and realizes he has feelings for Third. I don't know but something about Khai realizing what's he's done and the way he spoke just made me cry.

The third one.. I don't even need to say it.. you all know what it is if you've watches the series. That scene was everything to me.. I swear to god-

My personal favourite scene was the scene where Khai asks Third out infront of everyone in the theatre.. I can't express enough how much I love it, That scene made me almost swallow my pillow..

The music was amazing. I mean, that same song will be stuck in my head for the next 3 years.

Anyways- I wrote a lot- If you haven't finished it I TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT AND I AM TOTALLY REWATCHING IT ONE DAY

Overall Review:
I came in with quite high expectations because it created a lot of buzz last 2019. And honestly, it did not disappoint. The story follows the "gay guy falls for straight best friend" trope. From this description alone, you already know what you're in for. It's a great story about love and friendship and everything in between. It will pull at your heartstrings.

Story:
This is what I liked the most along with their production. It was so well made and realistic, it showed the push and pull of the main characters so well. It's great how you can see and feel all the film references they make. One of the things I liked about this series is that it actually incorporates their college majors into the plot, since other BL series just mention their majors in passing and it seems like they have all the time in the world to flirt.
The buildup was magnificent. It was not rushed AT ALL. They really gave us a chance to explore the characters and understand them. Even the side couples had a fresh storyline. Not just romance, but they also showed, in my opinion, real and believable friendships. Though there are still lots of BL cliches incorporated in this series, they still managed to make it so unique and so heartwarming.

Acting/Production:
Hats off to all the actors especially Gun. His expressions make you know what he is going through. It just gets you glued to the screen.

The production is on another level. It didn't feel cheap at all. The fact that this is a love story referencing other romantic films made the show feel hyper aware of itself and so much deeper.

Music:
The intro (which is also the overall OST) is my favorite. It makes you feel everything. It makes you feel alive.

Nothing's gonna be more painful than to fall in love with someone whose never seen your worth.

This Series will introduce you to a real life experience of Friendzone.
You better ready yourself to be a crying baby while watching. Ep. 1 will drive your eyes drooling with tears so be ready.

One lesson that I've
learned to this series.
You will never see someone's worth until you lose them.
So be wise and look around you there must be someone waiting or else you're the one who will be left behind.

Trust your heart with brain so it will be better.

Greetings here from Philippines!

This is just a motivational review I don't want to spoil it.
