Following the lead from the guest book, Wu Xie and Wang Pang Zi make their way to an old weather station left to them by Wu San Xing. They are in for a shock when they find a skeleton but some research proves it is not Wu Xie's uncle. Wu Xie takes the dead man's cassette tapes to find out more about listening to thunder and its relation to his uncle. When faced with a blockade, he goes to visit his second uncle, Er Bai, who advises him to leave Wu San Xing alone and live a normal life. Wu Xie, who disregards his advice, travels to the dead man's home town to find out more.
