Dr Lin is angry with Head Constable Yang for keeping Jin Xia's identity a secret from her. Head Constable Yang voices his disapproval of the Jin Xia marrying Lu Yi. Lu Yi meets Jin Xia, and finds out she already knows her true identity. Jin Xia is under the impression Yan is solely responsible. Lu Yi warns her that Yan is too powerful, not to reveal her identity, and not to act rashly. Jin Xia and Dr Lin visit the Xia home. Yan learns Jin Xia's identity. Lu Yi notices that his father seems very ill. Later, Lu Yi worries about what would happen if she finds out his father's role in the death of her family. He decides it would be less painful for her, if they were not a couple when she eventually finds out the truth. He tells her they are not a suitable match. JIn Xia is heartbroken and gets drunk. Meanwhile, Xie Xiao and Shangguan Xi plan to come to the capital.
