Perhaps the best drama for you, if you like both the mature and cutesy side of romance

This is hands down the best drama I've ever watched. If you are like myself and watch a lot of romance, this is definitely something you should watch. But the reason I'm writing this review, is to tell you, why I liked this drama so much.

As we grow, there are certain things that we forget. Certain relationships, moments that we should cherish. This drama reminds you of all that. The moments with your family, with your partner, with your friends. The premise of the show is that there is an old couple that goes back in time to their youth. As a result there is a mix of the youthful romance that's seen in many romance dramas, as well as the mature side of the romance, where you need to struggle and make sacrifices, for each other, your parents and your child.

This drama portrays how misunderstandings can impact a person and so in the end it leaves you with the sense that you should try to empathise with other people, because you never know what they might be going through. Mix all of this with comedy, multiple bittersweet and sad moments, and you got yourself a drama that will leave you feeling nothing but good after you're done.

I have to say that I started to watch this drama with no expectations. Usually, I don't watch a drama for the cast but this time I found out this show looking for son ho joon's works. But... to my surprise, after the first 30 minutes of the first episode I was glued to the PC screen! The cast is so cute and sweet, specially the baby, Seo Jin!!! Beyond the strange leap in time, the plot has far exceeded my expectations. There is an interesting mix of romance, drama, fun and real life. I can say I felt so involved, as if every character was a friend of mine to console or to laugh with, to cry with or to worry about. Just like a family, my family... So I just loved it. I really recommand this drama to people who is looking for simplicity, love and cuteness with a slice of seriousness. Moreover, Son Ho Joon and Jang Na Ra were really great. Their characters were so credible and close-knit. Although the real phenomenon of the drama was Kim Mi Kyung (ajumma!!!!!), as always. What else? Just watch it! ;)
(As always I apologize for any errors ?.?)

Broke my heart and then healed it

I've recently been wondering if I prefer melodramas over romantic comedies because they seem to hit harder, but watching this drama reminded me just how amazing a rom-com can still be if it manages to hit the right emotional beats.

Go Back Couple grabbed my attention in the first episode with how deep it was, and immediately I knew that this show took its subject matter seriously. The drama isn't afraid to touch upon important topics like grief and guilt, and throughout all 12 episodes, the emotional scenes were extremely hard-hitting, especially surrounding the theme of parenthood. I loved every scene between Jin Joo and her mother, and I loved how JJ basically had to choose between going back to see her own child or staying with the mother she never got to say goodbye to. The way grief affected the communication in the leads' relationship was so realistic and heart-wrenching; I cried so many times watching this show.

With that being said, the show also did an amazing job staying lighthearted. The second thing that stood out to me was that this drama is actually funny. With so many rom-coms now relying on drunken antics or slapstick humor (which doesn't quite click with me), this drama does instead uses a lot of callbacks or taking the time to set up situations that are funny but still very touching. I laughed just as much as I cried.

I love how much depth there was in both our main characters. Neither of them are perfect, but the breakdown of their relationship isn't their fault either. It makes the characters and their story feel extremely real. As much as I love the golden retriever archetype we keep getting nowadays, sometimes it feels like MLs have no purpose other than to love the FL. It's extremely refreshing to get an ML that is very flawed, but still so in love with the FL when everything is said and done.

There were only a few things I didn't like that much. One was the second ship; it's not that I disliked them, but I cared much more about those side characters' friendships with the main leads rather than their own romances.

I also didn't love the "getting hit by a car" trope at the end of Episode 11. While I admit the acting of the leads absolutely shined because of it, it feels like another common out-of-the-blue kdrama trope. I think we could've either done without it or at least picked a plot point that was pre-established, like Ban Do getting into an alley fight with some bullies.

Ultimately, though, these are all small potatoes and I still enjoyed this drama SO much. The "back in time" concept is nothing new but Go Back Couple manages to make its mark with stellar characters and excellent writing. I will be recommending this drama to everyone I know :)

The story is pretty typical if not common wherein a couple is in on the verge of falling apart and the grand scheme of the universe helps them work it out. But the dedicated and the realistic acting of the cast will pull you in and make you attached to the characters so much that you, yourself, are already rooting for the best for them after everything they've been through. I highly praise Jang Nara and Son Ho Jun for their performance as the main couple for they made my heart ache in ways I never knew it could. The way the plot was wirtten worked so well in telling the story and capturing the characters' best moments in their lives along with the script that gave the most beautiful lines and realizations about life and its journey through one's family and relationships. The scriptwriters told a truly moving story that will make you reflect about your own relationships in your life.

This is my first time writing a review for a drama here. I can't help myself but this drama is so urggh. Words can't even describe it. I ASOLUTELY LOVE IT! The acting, whenever Jang Nara cries, I cry too. I loved her since I watched Fated To Love You. The main actor is also not bad, he also made me cry. I love actors who make me cry.  Their OST is also perfect, although I won't be downloading them since most of them are sad, but they fit the drama perfectly. I love how they portrayed their characters. WANJEON PERFECT!! Besides we are all just humans with flaws. This drama made me think about how I should treat friends and how I should live my life. This show also made me have the second lead syndrome. Out of all the dramas I've watched, this was the first time that I was rooting for the second lead!!! (But Son Ho Jun got me in the end <3) My rewatch value score is low because I don't think my heart can handle the drama again! Definitely recommending this if you want a drama that will touch your soul!!

Seemingly cliché, but surprisingly addicting and insightful.

This drama is filled with classic K-Drama clichés. Multiple love triangles? Check. The female lead trips and gets caught by a man (I won’t tell you which man. ;))? Check—multiple times. Those clichés are so obvious that one cannot help but wince when they happen.

However, those clichés are easily overshadowed by the superb acting of every single actor and the skillful plot execution of the writers and producers.

There are plenty of moments when the main leads skillfully bring forth their “mature adult personas” in their everyday interactions. Even the support cast does well with adding depth to the character interaction and story development—especially Ma Jin Joo’s parents (played by Lee Byung Joon and Kim Mi Kyung). Combined with the writing, the characters do well in portraying the realistic challenges of a marriage.

Unlike many dramas, no one character makes the viewer fully hate them. Well, there may be one…but her reasons are justified. Throughout the episodes, one may root for two people, but at the same time, feel bad about the third person who gets left out. It gets to the point where you internally bicker with yourself to determine who to root for.

Another element that makes this drama special is the end of each episode when it reveals a relevant snippet of what really happened in the couple’s lives. Those ending snippets nicely ties each episode together, while showcasing a different side of the story. This makes the viewer empathize even more with each main character, and it makes them want to see more.

I’m glad that I gave this K-Drama a chance.

I didn't have much expectations for Go Back Couple when I started watching it. Jang Nara never disappoints and I was excited to see Son Hojoon in his first lead role. But wow, this was a really good watch,

It was satisfying all throughout. Tied up really nicely. All my questions were answered, all in just 12 episodes. Amazing!

I love how it not only focused on the leads' relationship but also their surroundings and how each of them affects everyone.

NO TOXIC CHARACTERS. NO ANNOYING LOVE TRIANGLES!

This drama will be remembered for a  long time. I love you, Go Back Couple!

So emotional T-T

Just finished watching and i haven't cried this much watching a kdrama in a long time. Everything about the storytelling of this kdrama was well done. If anything, this kdrama had the potential to be longer, to give space for secondary characters to also have their fair share of screen time.

The thing i fear the most it's misunderstandings. All of a sudden friendships, love relationships and family bonds end because of a misunderstanding or lack of communication. The whole mother/daughter relationship absolutely ended me. My father died 10 years ago and there's just so much i would like to have done with him that i never got a chance to. I love the actress that did the mother's role, she is always so kind and a perfect mom in almost all kdramas i've watched with her. Adore her. I am so happy they had such a lovely dynamic.

Since i liked all characters so much i wished we could've seen how everyone end up like that in the end and explore all characters. But looked like there was not enough time to shoot everything. It's ok. This was more than enough.

I think this is the type of kdrama that teaches you valuable things. A big thank you to the writer!

this was really going to be the best drama i watched from while ago .... BUT -_-

as usual they lost the main aspect they should focus on and got busy with another aspect

the main idea was to get back to see the value of what u have and don't let problems blind u
to know how to deal with your problems in marriage
to focus how to develop yourself and help others around u to get better

but they focused suddenly more on parenting and youth problems
which really distracted me
and sequently
the romance between the couple got lukewarm

the main leads from my opinion didn't get close to each other as i thought to know the real reasons which led to this situation
they discovered about each other coincidentally which was really illogical for me and made the main idea lost

even when the 2 main leads back as adults they didn't think most of the time as they should according to their age

many side stories were open for me even the 2 main leads which gave u the feeling the director ends the drama in rush
and too many flash backs for the same scene with many different explanations which lead you to be bored

i'm really frustrating for the turn the drama took towards the end :(

this drama is not romance it's purely social

To die for. Whenever i think of it i get emotional. I cried almost at every episode i watched, the last one i cried much more because there weren't anymore to watch and for the fact they made it a 12 episode drama and not 16. I actually lived with it, i shared the same concerns with the actors and really got inspired by it. I can't believe a drama like that exists, with the right amount of laughs, of embarassment, of jealousy, of romance, of cuteness, .... everything seemed so perfect. I actually agreed with the characters' choices, which is not usual since i fell in love with the second male-lead (as i have the second male-lead syndrome) , but it was so weird for meto actually agree with the writer and bring the two leads together . It had a great ending, totally perfect. I'm still hoping for a second season everyone.
