The story was cute, and low-key relatable as I'm sure a lot of people have tried and pursue their crushes over the years. But, there was something's that only gave it a 9.5. The acting and cast were amazing. This was the second performance I've seen of the Male Lead and I thought he embodied the character well. It showed growth of all of the characters, some heartbreak. I didn't particularly care for how they portrayed the mental health in the show, but then I also understand that's just how it's dealt with in those countries. Mainly Li Wei's mom though she was in only one scene as much as I hated her, I began to sympathize the eternal pain she was going through as someone who deals with it on a regular basis. So, in the end I felt sympathy for her.

Despite being tenacious and a bit childish the female lead grew up and sometimes it takes growing apart from a person you love and figuring out who you are in the end to really make you see that the person you loved an wanted was next to you all along. Mainly Jiang Chen I'm talking about in this case, but it also gave Chen Xiaoxi a chance to grow up and live life and seeing if the love Jiang Chen was really there. Her friends were amazing and tough. It's a good drama if you like school romances and seeing characters grow and become more established of themselves as adults. The special was cute, but not what I wanted it to expect. Overall a good show. But, it still gets 9.5 because of the way they did Li Wei. It wasn't fair. Even though I was ready to push her and her best friend out the window. And would I rewatch it again? Probably not. It didn't move me to tears. But it was good.

La mejor manera de definirlo: UWU

Este drama lleva el apellido "UWU" implícito. Si lo que buscas es una historia tierna, sin dramas inverosímiles; ver cómo los protagonistas van creciendo, enamorándose y madurando desde el instituto, uni y más allá, y que tu corazoncito dé vuelcos de ternura y emoción casual, este es tu drama. Yo he acabado enamorada y consumida por lo cute que ha sido todo. Le he tenido que poner un 9 de nota, #sorrynotsorry.

Sobre la historia: es cierto que no es nada del otro mundo, y muchos dicen que se parece a «Playful Kiss» o «Itazura na kiss». En algunos detalles no se puede negar la similitud, pero yo le he encontrado otro aire más satisfactorio, sobre todo en el desarrollo que tienen los personajes (nuestro bello protagonista masculino, Jiang Chen, se merece un aplauso; da un cambio radical desde cómo es en el principio a cómo es al final del drama; un cambio gradual, o sea, que se ve realista y no forzado). En general, vemos a lo largo de los años cómo se desarrollan las relaciones interpersonales entre ellos (amorosas y amistosas –que, por cierto, #FriendshipGoals–), y de cómo avanzan en sus estudios y carreras profesionales (aunque en menor medida).

Luego, sobre los personajes: como ya he avanzado, una de las cosas que más me ha gustado es el desarrollo que tienen sobre todo los protagonistas (Jiang Chen y Xiao Xi). Muchos se quejan de que Xiao Xi persigue todo el rato a Jiang Chen y que no tiene dignidad por ello (y que no cambia), pero eso sucede sobre todo en la época en la que son estudiantes de secundaria... Por su personalidad, abierta y alegre, al final veréis normal que lo persiga enamorada perdida sin vergüenza alguna (a diferencia que en «Itazura na Kiss»... eso sí que daba cringe, y la muchacha no cambiaba ni aún después de casados...). Xiao Xi simplemente ama a Jiang Chen abiertamente, y habrá momentos en los que se verá que ella también tiene carácter y se respeta, y más adelante la relación será más igualada.
Luego, Jiang Chen, de ser un chico totalmente callado, más bien solitario y un poco cruel con ella, pasa a ser un muchacho mucho más expresivo gracias a sus amigos y a Xiao Xi. De verdad vale la pena ver su progreso, y cómo poco a poco va demostrando lo que siente por la prota (DEMASIADO CUTE).
Y TENGO QUE DESTACAR AL SQUAD DE AMIGOS. Maravillosos, tanto los personajes como los actores que les dan vida; sobre todo Jing Xiao: muy relatable y una queen.
En relación a los personajes, comentar que la actuación de los actores a mí me ha gustado mucho; los he visto bastante naturales en sus personajes. En serio, me han gustado mucho.

El OST: La canción de la intro es una muestra auditiva de lo tierno que es el drama; preciosa.

Es un drama que de verdad se disfruta de principio a fin si te gusta el género "Slice of Life", Instituto-Universidad, Friends to lovers, etc. Lo cierto es que me recordaba mucho al drama de «A Little Thing Called First Love», que también amé. Es de ese estilo. Así que eso, si te gustan los dramas de este tipo te lo recomiendo MUCHO.
Y ahora, ¿lo volvería a ver? Lo cierto es que SÍ, es digno de volver a ver por todos los momentos tiernos que nos ofrecen, que van construyendo la historia de amor de los protas y las secundarias UWU

i really wasn't interested in cdramas because i only tend to watch kdramas BUT THIS CDRAMA GOT ME WHOOPED. i first saw this while scrolling through my facebook timeline and this caught my attention. yes it's the cliche cheerful girl and cold/smart guy, but this exceeded my expectations. i liked a love so beautiful the most. like omg they look so cute together. you can see how good their characters progress, to become mature, but they can still remain cute. it gives me that fresh highschool vibes which i love so much. now this is my favorite drama ever, idk it's just the best for me.

moving on to the acting, i've watched several bts videos of alsb, and they are so cute behind the camera omg. bts, yitian(jiangchen) is actually a very playful guy and omg he is the cutest. i just want to shove him in my pocket and carry him everywhere. he did a good job acting as his first lead drama. according to shen yue herself, she is a quiet girl, she also did a very great job portraying xiaoxi (she became more and more xiaoxi in real life as she films cute) their chemistry is superb. the supporting roles, omg they are just the best supporting roles. i can feel everything idk.

THE MUSIC OMG. STORY: I'm honestly not sure if drama was originally it's own story or if it was based off something else (a book/etc. Not specifically ISWAK), but I don't think anyone can disagree that there are some major similarities between this story and ISWAK.

**Similarities to ISWAK**
- Male Lead: Super smart (Always first in school), very attractive and popular, relatively cold personality. - Even the same surname as the TW version of ISWAK (Jiang ?) and even aesthetically he was super tall (actually the same height as Joe Cheng from ISWAK).
-Female Lead: Not very smart, but very positive personality. Bright and hardworking (when she wants to be). Places very high value on friendship and family. Somewhat obsessively in love with the male lead for the brunt of the drama.
-Many plot similarities (especially when they are in high school), but I don't want to ruin anything for anyone

If it WAS meant to be ISWAK but with a twist, I'm honestly all for it. One of the things that I really enjoyed (in comparison to ISWAK) is how strong of a person the female lead becomes. Even with all of the negatives that occur, Xiao Xi still works hard and achieves what she wants (with sprinkling of help from Jiang Chen occasionally). She isn't just a weak female character who does everything for the guy she likes the entire show.

Really enjoy the change of how the drama feels throughout their life. Begins as very innocent and somewhat seemingly one-sided love and eventually feels like a real relationship as they get older with real life problems and arguments.

Downside to the story:
-I enjoyed the time they spent showing their lives in high school, but when they graduate from high school and move on, it feels a little rushed to me. Half the drama is spent when they are in high school and the other half is the rest of their college/adult years all crammed together. I understand why since high school was the foundation of their relationship, but it was like 50% foundation 50% everything else (being together, dealing with relationship issues, etc. etc)

ACTING:
I think the two leads did a great job for how young they are (Presently 24 for Hu Yi Ran and 20 for Shen Yue). They had cute chemistry and seemed to really enjoy working together. Both did a great job showing how their characters progressed and changed from high school times to adult hood (you could really feel the changes in personality as they grew up).

 Never felt very annoyed with any of the characters (aside from the class leader's friend in high school) which is definitely a contribution of acting and producers. Everyone felt relatively multi-dimensional. All of the main characters had moments to show off different sides of their personalities which was really good.

REWATCH VALUE:
I'd definitely throw it in as a rewatch whenever I was in a lull and didn't have a good new show to watch. The story feels really familiar (to ISWAK especially) so it gives it a good nostalgia feel, but the second half of the drama has enough differences (mostly good ones) that gives it a fresh feeling and (imo) even better than ISWAK at certain points.

I highly recommend watching this drama, I finished watching the whole series in 4 days.
My first Cdrama was Meteor Garden, this is my second. Meteor Garden kind of dragged towards the end, and the ending was okay, but A Love so Beautiful kept me hooked through out the drama, every episode was interesting. The leads are not as frustrating.

This drama is filled with cute bubbly scenes. The leads are super adorable!!

The cast was perfect, all of the cast portrayed their roles well. (Warning you will get terrible second lead syndrome.)
There wasn't much music with lyrics mostly instrumentals. Music wasn't over played and was used well.
I would definitely re watch! Such a cute drama!

Such a cute, realistic high school show

This show is sooooo adorable and heartwarming. The main cast of five friends is so lovable and sweet. I love how the protagonist, Chen Xiaoxi is always optimistic and bubbly even in the face of challenge. There is a lot of second lead syndrome that makes you scratch your head sometimes. But in general, the two main love interests are both good people so it's a little more understandable than usual.

I will say, it's refreshing to see a high school show where the characters actually have to deal with schoolwork, college applications, and real teen stuff. Not having gone to school in China, I can't say how accurate it reflects that environment, but the teen struggles feel relatable-as opposed to American shows where none of the students ever have homework and they all look like they're 27.

The music is great, particularly the main theme; I love to listen to it on repeat! Would definitely re-watch this show, there are a lot of cute moments between the main leads and their friends.

If you love to watch a different love story.

This drama is basically a usual one. Hu yitian and shenyue is the perfect cast for the drama. if you are looking for through out love then this is not the apt one. But if you are looking for a sincere love (for each other-though jian Chen hardly shows it) you can got for it. The reason I give story 6 is, the entire story lies in school (I personally don't like that -thats why). But they have given a well definition and each and every thing happening is highly relatable to our school life. The reason I say it is sincere love, though they were apart from each other they still can't accept any others in their life and they where secretly admire each other like a lot.
Xia xia is a cute one + annoying one. As per acting Shen yue is super awesome.i think only can can define this character well. Her feelings for jjian Chen is so strong that is can't take him away from her thoughts it self.
Jiang Chen is a hard person, who hardly talk to any one, who is more devoted to studies than any thing else. Hu Yi tian is perfect for this character (not because I am fan) his drastic change from non romantic to romantic is the sweetest part ever.
Second love is sweetest second I have ever in any other drama.
Wu bosong is well defined character. Caring and loving one (though Chen xio xia see him as a friend) who loves xio xia unconditionally.
Acting wise good one.
Songs are good.
Story is okay type.
Melodrama _ yes it is.
I watch this drama more than ten times ( jealous part is cute, their love is too admirable).

""ANOTHER DRAMA THAT MADE ME BURST INTO TEARS AS WELL AS LAUGHTER""

I have watched so many Korean and Chinese dramas so far this is my 41st drama. tbh I really don't cry watching drama a lot I can hold my self but this is my 2nd drama watching where I cried. it was unusual for me. well let me get into the story

at the very 1st, I was wondering should I feel bad or laugh at little CX clumpy behavior it made me laugh so hard. I loved their friendship and so on. loved their relation while helping others. their beautiful yet bittersweet moments with their teacher and parents, the thing loved most was that tho their teacher and CXs parents sometimes shout at her but they always wanted her best and the parts where CXs parents were trying to talk with her patiently just melt my heart.

at 1st I was annoyed by the way JC behaved with her but gradually I understood that that's how his character was built. he even loved her so much but just could not express it thoroughly. at many points seeing him jealous was fun

many people got SLS bt for its a whole different storie I think that WB nd CX does not looks good together so I never shipped them.

but one there are few things which gave me major headache such as I just could not bear the part when they broke up for stupid misunderstanding like man you guys love each other so much so solve it by sense. well break up was okay bt when I say that darn 3 year gaph i literally cried boy how many 3 year you get in your life you just wasted like that and the way they got back together I did not liked it either I really wished that one of them would cry and try to explain every thing but they just starred at each other and then again many things happed gradually they talked about their misunderstanding but I thought after they shared it (the misunderstanding was that JC 1st ever patient died and CX was almost physically bullied while looking for apartment but these happened on the same day and both of them was really depressed for it which made them breakup cus none cleared it that what happened and even when JC was leaving CX came but it was too late later on JC came back but saw CX and WB hugging that made him thought that she moved on but after 3 years he comes back cus he knows he cant live without her) they're reaction was not worth it so at the end I did not like the part that they were apart for 3 years and also the way they got back was really kind of not likeable for me.

i wish their romance could be more affectionate i mean it was really loving but still I think their was tiny lack at many points.

at the end I loved the ending it started by CX saying that she love JC but ended JC saying he loved CX. bt there was another ep the special one I really wised it was their weeding ep. i mean for me every drama in incomplete without a beautiful weeding. but my bad it was just some unseen things.

I have just finished watching this drama after I got recommendation from my colleagues! First I fell in love with Taiwanese and Chinese drama after watching a movie "Our Times".
My first taiwanese drama was meteor garden back then in 2001 ,the second drama was Silence and the third one was well I dont have many experience or know the actors/actress verywell except their well know actor and actress such as Fan Bingbing, Chen Kyun, Gong Li, etc...

I dont like clingy drama with crying baby characters but I really adore this drama so much. Shen Yue was really really good at portraying her character and Wu Bosong....My love my heart may you get happiness in ever drama you've in.
I am really fond their friendship how the writer wrapped each characters very excellent and without dragging too much story. Well even though it was too long but I love every scenes in 24 episodes.


STORY:
The plot follows your basic, this made the drama a lot more watchable because I wasn't constantly frustrated and think a lot with the characters and story. The story-line also progressed very smoothly and still in their pace without changing or adding character's point of view. I love how they chose the 20s high school life instead of today. So we can feel the barrier of communication, feeling development and each moments of their friendship growing up beautiful together.

ACTING/CAST:
The characters has their own color that I cant decide which one should I really fond of but I loved 5 of them. They have advantages and disadvantages that we dont have to mind since their advantages covered their disadvantages.


MUSIC:
I dont really mind of BGM or etc but I do mind what Chen Xiaoxi's singing part that makes me wonder why the song is so familiar hahha and turned up it is their BGM hahaha. I loved the BGM

REWATCH VALUE:
I would definitely re-watch it if I am out of supplier of japanese drama hahah

OVERALL:
Overall, korean and japanese drama cant beat chinese simplicity drama with just a simple actor and acting. If korean has the best costume in the drama, Japanese has the great story in the drama meanwhile...chinese has the best simple, fresh and addictive drama with a light story & ordinary casts.

I never write reviews because they take up too much time but I had to write one for this show. I'm late to the bandwagon of watching this show for it was made in 2017 and here I just finished it in 2019 ha. But this show was too good for me not to write a review.

The chemistry was beautiful between the two. This may have your average "cliche" love story between the lovers with a love triangle but it was woven in perfectly without flaw. And I've seen the other shows like this such as "playful kiss" but none compare to this show. This love story was truly beautiful and I loved the leads with all my heart and lets just say I developed a 23 episode crush on Jiang Chen hehe. These two were new at acting and I think they killed it! I could believe everything that was happening and I felt Chen xiao xi's emotions with her. The only thing is that if you hate shows with 2nd lead syndrome thing, then I guess this one isn't for you. Because I felt so bad Wu Bosong and I wished he got a happier ending :(. But the love story between chen xiao xi and jiang chen was so perfect I can't and the height difference is adorable. But this drama isn't all about love, a big part of this was friendship. I adored the friendship between the 5 of them and I want a close friendship like that someday too. Oh yes and the romance between the other leads playing "ling jin xiao" and "lu yang" also had me shook. Their romance was also so so adorble. And the ending had me wanting more of the show and I want a season two. Have you ever loved something or someone so much that it hurts to think about it. Well thats how I felt after I finished this show. I don't think i will ever love a drama as I loved this one.. If you have any doubts about watching this drama, don't because I will never love a show as much I loved this one .
