Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat is the first boran (thai historical lakorn) I ever seen, and for sure not the last one! There are tons of time travel dramas, but this one is quite different and unique from many other time travel dramas, as it tells of 25-year old Kadesurang, who due to an accident, goes back in time to the Ayutthaya era around 300 years ago... The unique thing here is that Kadesurang wakes up in someone else's dead body, that body belonged to an cruel woman called Karakade. And Kadesurang has to cleanse away Karakade's sins / do merits for her so that Karakade's spirit can get peace. Meanwhile Kadesurang also has to learn how to adapt to her new envirionment, to traditional thai customs etc. If that wasn't enough, everyone hated Karakade, so naturally they hate Kadesurang who they of course believe is Karakade (the one who hates her the most is her betrothed Por Date), so Kadesurang/Karakade has to also try to win everyone's heart...

This lakorn was a breath of fresh air, definitely not your typical lakorn. Sure, it had its cliches (like for exemple many times tripping and falling into the hero's arms followed by long stares, or turning around almost bump into the hero followed by long stares LOL) , but all in all the cliches were never overdone. Kadesurang/Karakade is such a refreshing heroine! She's bubbly, cheerful, curious, smart, strong willed and mischievous. She stands up for herself and others and never lets anyone break her. You know, in so many dramas the heroine starts out all strong but as the drama goes on its as if her strong willingness is thrown out of the window and she turns into a weak crybaby. But not here! Kadesurang/Karakade stays strong until the end. However, it doesn't mean she has no vulnerability in her, thankfully she does have it too, she cries/feels sad during the "right" times, for exemple when she misses her grandma and mom... during the times Kadesurang/Karakade is sad you can really feel for her, feel her pain. Luckily, she never dwells on her sorrows for too long and gets back to her usual cheerful self. Bella is the perfect role for Kadesurang/Karakade, such an expressive actress(I haven't seen any of her dramas before) , she gives life to her character and one can tell Bella is giving her all, not just half heartedly, obviously she takes her role as Kadesurang/Karakade very seriously. Bella is such a versatile actress as she is able to perfectly play as a someone cruel (the previous Karakade) and someone lovable, kindhearted (the current Karakade). I will for sure in the future watch more of Bella's work :)

Por Date... Pope was also perfect for the role as an old fashioned, proud gentleman of its time, with authority when needed. He could be strict and stiff, harsh too, but never cruel. What I fond realistic and great is how they never made Por Date modern (which is not always easy, often they make the hero a bit too modern despite its taking place in historical times). He grew up with the ideals and views as everyone else grew up with during Ayutthaya era. Neverthless, Por Date was an righteous man and it was such a delight to follow him from how he first loathed Kadesurang/Karakade to how he eventually fell deeply in love with her, at natural pace - it was never rushed. Whenever he smiled and how his eyes shined - especially towards Kadesurang/Karakade - was so sweet. Pope sure has a wonderful smile. And whenever Por Date was jealous because Kadesurang/Karakade was close to someone else was hilarious. Before Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat Pope was not very popular, but after this lakorn he gained huge fame and lots of fans. I totally get why, he sure is an charismatic actor. :) I want to see more of him as well.

The sweeping romance between the fated lovers Kadesurang/Karakade and Por Date was subtle, gentle and very beautiful. Since its during Ayutthaya era, their romance was more on the traditional kind. Not much skinship, but still the chemistry between them was off the charts! The secret stares, subtle flirting, gentle touches - everything - between them felt so natural and genuine. They sure make a very romantic pair! And I simply loved it whenever Por Date sniffed Kadesurang/Karakade's hair, I never thought of it as something romantic until now LOL. One of the things I love about this OTP is that how they don't fight for too long and being overly stubborn, they listen to each other and learn from each other. No immature childish stuff with slapstick humor. They both behaved rather maturely and were very compatible with each other, they sure are a match made in heaven, after all they are destinied to be together.
The love story between them is the main plot, and the lakorn never forgets that.

Another thing I love about this lakorn is that all characters (even the supporting cast) are multi diminisional, no one is perfect. No evil characters, but no saints either. Everyone made a strong performance , the supporting cast too! I felt they had their own purpose in the lakorn as well, not just to be in the shadows of the main cast. They were memorable and had all unique personalities. We got to follow the maids/ servants daily life, likewise of the rest of the household. It was as if they all truly mattered... the maids/servants, Por Date's parents, as well as Por Date's previous crush, and his friend (who happens to look like Kadesurang's crush from the future), the king, the corrupted Phaulkon and his wife Maria, etc etc. All roles were memorable in its own right. What I loved is that this lakorn was not too politics heavy, and the politics that took place was quite interesting and was most of the times not too hard to follow. Also, another thing I love about this lakorn is how it manage to balance out so well comedy and drama. I enjoy how we get to learn about old Thailand , the customs, how people lived like back then. And the many real historical important characters we get to see is fascinating. Not to mention, this lakorn is so stunning with its beautiful backround with all the beautiful ancient temples and such...And the clothes are simply WOW~ I love the traditional thai costumes/clothes they wear. So beautiful!
And the OSTs are wonderful too, its more on the thai traditional kind of songs, which is perfectly suitable for this kind of lakorn. I would have been dissapointed if they used modern popish songs.

Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat is a romantic lakorn full of heart. While I fond the editing a bit choppy (just a little) and some parts confusing like WTF (I don't want to spoil) all in all its a wonderful show and I totally get it why this became such a huge hit! Would I recommend this? Absolutely!! Its not perfect, has its flaws but the awesomeness is far stronger. To this date, this is the BEST lakorn I seen so far <3

This drama is just a beauty. I don't really want to watch Thai Ancient Dramas as in Thai lakorn which is set in the past, i don't know why myself. In fact, it was due to this reason I skipped past this drama when a clip came my way in Youtube. But, I knew now how wrong I was about this drama. This drama is just amazing in how it incorporates history and drama so well.

I did not feel bored at all watching this, There's always something exciting to see, a place, a person or just daily everyday life. Despite it retelling history, but I not getting bored, to me says a lot at how well the writers planned out the story. There are moments where I find myself listening to trivial historical stuffs like what they trade the most at the moment and who is who but in the end, I did not skip or did anything but continue to listen as if it was a casual conversation. The inquisitive nature of Kadesurang was an important factor in here. If she was not there, I feel that I would not listened to all that and got bored instantly. She is the backbone of the story and that's one of the reasons I like her character so much.

The story has an excellent use of sound effects that just cracks me up all the time when it is used for comedic reasons. I enjoyed everything about this drama, from the story, to the cast especially the supporting characters as well to the history. It felt like a laid-back drama. Nothing too heavy or serious. I can't not watch this drama without watching every single minute. That speaks a lot as I tend to skip some scenes if I don't feel like watching it. And I didn't feel like not watching it at all throughout the drama.

To end this review, i declare this drama to be able to compete for the number one spot in my drama list out of all the dramas I have watched in my life. It is just that amazing. I wanted to give it number one but I know for sure there will be dramas as great as this in the future. And moreover, there's a SECOND SEASON. I bet it won't focus so much on the current leads but at least if I am able to continue to see this cute and lovely couple, I am more than dee chai laeo (happy already)

Don't miss it, everyone. Rewatch value? TOTALLY Rewatchable!!!

A pleasant surpise!

As i decided to start writing reviews on here, i knew i HAD to start with Love Destiny. I loved it so so much. I've tried to watch historical dramas many times since I started watching dramas in 2012, but I realized they're just not for me and I struggle to get into it as opposed to modern-day dramas. That was until I decided to give Love Destiny a shot, and I don't regret it at all! Seen it 2 times already and it's rare for me to rewatch lakorns since the episodes are so long (which is the only reason I gave it a 9 for rewatch value, but if you're anything like me and you don't mind skipping ahead a lot when you rewatch something, then it's not going to be a problem to you). Bhuppae Sunniwat is funny, emotional, the plot is really good and for once I loved both main lead's personalities which is one of the rarest things, both of them had a sense of humor and the misunderstandings between the leads were for good reasons, it's not one of the typical "male lead hates female lead for no reason" trope. Not to mention the pra'ek (male lead)'s family, I managed to appreciate all of them by the end. Bella and Pope's chemistry is one of the best I've seen in a lakorn until now.

Even if you're not into lakorns or historical dramas in general, I think you would find Bhuppae Sunniwat interesting.

THE DRAMA FOR ALL SEASONS!

I cannot find the words to describe exactly how bewitched I have been with this drama. perhaps the word "crazy for you" would do well. I have been rewatching this show and been following the songs too. This is by far, the most exciting, meaningful, funny and most balanced drama I've ever watched. It has a perfect blend of everything: casting, story, plot, comedy, fantasy, romance, suspense, the historic figures and locations, musical score. The content is very substantial it made me spend hours looking into Thailand's history. You wouldn't be surprised if I tell you that I was glued to the TV until 6 AM in the morning!!!!! I just love this drama so much! Rewatching it time and again won't keep you bored at all. It is sooo wholesome. Do give it a try! Thank you so much to Pope and Bella and all the cast for making this piece a real classic. A million stars to you all!!! I love Thailand!!!! - Love, from the Philippines!

Watch Love Destiny on NetFlix

This is one of my favorite Thai Drama Series. I love the story it's very unique. I love the scenery and locations. I love the theme songs even though I really don't understand the meaning of each word on the lyrics. I'm always watching the music videos on YouTube. And of course, with my favorite Thai actress Bella Ranee Campen and Thai actor Pope Thanawat Wattanaputi. They really give justice on their acting. As well as the other actors and actresses in the series. Actually, I'm from the Philippines and I've been in Thailand for just one week last 2017 and I'm really impressed with Thai culture and tradition.

I really enjoy watching this over and over again.

This is a pretty classic lakorn that a lot of people have reviewed, but I figured I'd just put my two cents in as I've been wanting to write a review for this for a while. I watched this twice before I made my MDL account and was gonna watch it a third time so I could give a more accurate review, but something occurred in the lakorn that made me stop cold turkey - for the sake of wanting to remember the good things about this, I will mainly base my review on my first 2 watches.

Basically this is the best slow burn romance lakorn, and the historical aspect makes it that much better. All that matters is the way Por Date gazes lovingly at Kadesurang. I have an embarrassing amount of saved screenshots of Date looking at her and watching him grow to love her is super endearing. Him mimicking her modern mannerisms was also super cute. Kadesurang/Karakade is also very endearing and it's really fun to watch her be a fish out of water as a modern lady in ancient times. Even more cool is that she was previously a historian, and her appreciating all the ancient customs/things made me appreciate them too. Her enthusiasm is infectious. I also liked how she didn't interfere with the events she knew was coming and was a silent observer instead.

Other great things about this lakorn is that there's no crazy jealous/bitchy second leads, amazing 2ndry cast, engaging plot and how it presented the history of Ayutthaya in an informative and engaging manner. The best thing for me was honestly the music; boran music is my total weakness and all the songs were beautiful, poignant and carried the mood of the lakorn very well. I pretty much have all the songs on my playlist.

One thing I recall that I didn't like about this lakorn is how Karakade would use her modern mannerisms and expect her servants to understand - I felt this was a bit much. I also felt Karakade's progression to loving Date was not well done; while there were many reasons for her to fall for him, I kinda felt like she just came to like him "just because" and not because she truly loved him (like I couldn't feel deep love from her compared to the deep love I felt from Date).

Another thing I have to factor in is what happened in my 3rd attempt at watching; basically in the beginning, Date hates Kadesurang because of the crap that Karakade did. But while hating her, they showed clips of him being nice to her for no apparent reason, which made no sense. He goes back to hating her but that was enough to turn me off. I'm not sure how I didn't catch this the first couple times I watched, though it may be because of how I've changed as a lakorn watcher then vs now.

I'll likely get over this bump and will go back to re-watch this at some point, but for now I'm happy to remember it as an amazing slow burn romance with a complex, intriguing plot. I'd totally recommend you watch if you haven't already and am looking forward to the sequel.

Lakorns were never my cup of tea, but this one is an exception. This is one of the best, if not the best, Asian drama I’ve seen. It’s like a breath of fresh air, miles away from most of the cliches and pitfalls of the usual drama. It’s an intelligent blend of romance, history, culture, and the supernatural. It’s both relaxing and strangely stimulating. I didn’t need to turn my brain off to enjoy it.

Kade, our time traveler, is more than just your cute, feisty heroine. She speaks her own mind, but never forces her modern views on others. She did change some people’s views, but through her own sincerity and sweetness. Her curiosity and enthusiasm are infectious (I’ve never seen anyone so excited to use an ancient pit toilet before). Her fangirling of the famous historical figures is hilarious. Bella Ranee played the role to perfection. Credits to the script writer for expanding on her relationship with her grandma and mother. Those extra scenes are touching and adds that much more depth to the character.

If Bella carries the show, then Pope Thanawat is the one that carries the love story. He’s Thailand’s answer to Tony Leung, an actor who can act with his eyes. Like Tony, he’s not good-looking in a conventional sense, but those eyes and that smile - they carry a girl across the oceans and back. His Por Date is dashing and aristocratic, like he just stepped out of those old paintings. This makes it all the more comical when Kade causes him to do things that are completely undignified.

The chemistry between Bella and Pope is like nothing I’ve ever seen, so natural and effortless. It’s one of those rare, indescribable things you have to see to believe. The supporting cast are spot on, every single actor large or small had a good grasp of their character (a credit to the director). The script and original novel are brilliant. All these elements came together to make this an international hit. So when is Channel 3 going to realize that it takes more than some koo-jin to make a quality show?

The sets and costumes are a feast for the eyes. The camera doesn’t waste time lingering on the props, but they are always there in the background and the corners of your eyes. These details bring Ayutthaya back to life. You see the grandeur and prosperity, but you also get glimpses of its dark side: the treatment of women, the slave system, and the xenophobia. The show is intelligent enough to showcase, but not glorify, ancient Thailand. It presents politics/history the same way, with an open mind and allow us viewers to think for ourselves.

Given that there’s a lot of time-traveling, body switching dramas out there, this is the one that ruins all the others for me. Kade doesn’t travel back in time “just because.” There are very specific reasons why. These are clearly explained and woven into the theme of the story. Everything comes together in the end. It is a happy ending. I’m just sad that it has to end. Good thing this is an infinitely rewatchable series. There are still so many little nuances and details to discover even after 3-4 viewings.

This is my first Thai lakorn (drama) and I would say that this lakorn is perfect for those who are watching Thai lakorns for the first time. Something that surprised me were the sweet romance scenes, there were no passionate kissing scenes that are common in the Korean and Hong Kong dramas that I have watched. Personally, I prefer such toned-down and sweet romantic scenes that felt more emotional and less "physical". Truely, it has been a long time since I became so obsessed over a drama and found myself with post-completion syndrome. I found myself listening to the OSTs, watching NGs and finding more Thai lakorns to watch. The drama is addicting and the only reason I didn't spam it in one go was because I was watching it with my family. Everything from the costume, story, acting and music was perfect and I would really recommend everyone to watch it.

Production/Story:
As a person who has watched my fair share of historical dramas, this drama impressed me with the beautiful costumes, filming location... The costume for each actor was perfect and helped to bring out their character. The setting was also lovely and I felt that I was being transported back to Ayutthaya in the old days. On a side note, this drama is a nice way to learn some Thai history. The story is in one word - amazing. I watched it without any expectations and was blown away right from the first episode. It had many unexpected elements that made this show a notch above others. For example, it didn't have any over-the-top annoying antagonists and inconsiderate in-laws which is a great plus. I've had quite enough of such characters that just make me frustrated. In this show, I first thought that Janward, the second female lead, would thwart Khun Pi and Karakade's relationship and was pleasantly surprised when she did not do much, with the most she did being ignoring Karakade, and for some time only. Her reaction suited her shy and dignified character well, I am glad that the scriptwriter didn't decide to make her suddenly become an annoying or evil person. There are probably still a hundred things that I love about this drama, but I shall just summarise by saying that it is a sweet soap opera to watch, with almost no frustrating moments which is what makes it so amazing.

Actors:
This drama had a perfect cast, every single actor was perfect for their role and acted out their characters to perfection. Be it the leading actors, P'Bella and P'Pope, or the supporting actors, P'Noon, P'Most, P'Susi...all were wonderful. Every single facial expression and speech was just right and made me love this show even more.

Music:
I love the music in this drama, most of the OSTs even have special versions sung by the leading actors. For example, if I'm not wrong, P'Bella sang "Thou no Thou" and P'Pope sung "Or Jao Oie". I have added their songs to my playlist and am learning how to sing the Thai lyrics properly hehe. The original versions by the respective artistes are also great and I did not have any OST fatigue at all by the end of the 15 episodes.

Rewatch Value:
While I haven't rewatched this drama fully, I have been watching snippets here and there. I am certain that this will be my go-to drama if I'm ever feeling stressed because all the sweet and fluffy moments will probably be enough to drive any stress away.

A period piece to remember

Recently rewatched, my review remains the same !!!
So this Lakorn is on another level of beautiful. By far the best transmigration Asian drama i've watched. And yes even better than Scarlet Heart and here's why I think so
- The author was able to encompass cultural beliefs and use it to write the story. This way, nothing is hidden from all parties including the audience.
- There was a clean cut from the past/future and it created an avenue for clarity and the easily avoidable pain you get from separation in all transmigration drama's was evaded.
- There was absolutely no intention of changing history. This is a romantic story using a real life period piece, I think the writer of this story did a good job in making the main characters life dynamic, without necessarily having to change what has happened in history. (Very intuitive)

CAST/ACTING: They were all amazing and sincerely the best characters and actors came from the servants. They were just too splendid. The main leads did a good job and all the other side characters portrayed the story well. (Great job)

MUSIC/SOUNDS: The use of the foreign language, the dialects and her modern slangs were beautiful. They added a form of reality to the situation. Most period pieces I've seen have the foreigners either speak their own language or not talk at all. This was quite different and a relief. Kadesurangs constant use of modern slangs and the fact that some foreigners identified some of her words(Maria) was great. The locals were more confused by her slangs, and this was consistent till the end which should be. Those around her however, adapted quite quickly to her use of (different) words. This is unlike other transmigration pieces where you see that someone from the future is using modern slangs and the people from the past either do not care, pay no particular attention to it, or sometimes it seems like they understand which they are not supposed to. The music was also good.

This drama basically cleared the air and gave you what many transmigration or period piece drama's cannot give you, a balanced dose of romance and history, there is enough history to make it seem like a real period piece and enough romance for you to not get bored and tired of politics. So good job drama lords, good job author/writer and good job actors. This was a beautiful one.

Story : Interesting (because it is super funny). The plot is sadly very loosely sewn together. Sometimes I don't get why certain characters do certain things and why certain things happened and didn't happen. And heading towards the ending, I feel the 'extra' stories behind her being pulled into that period is rather well too much.
Acting/Cast : The male character deserved the wooden spoon award during the first couple of episodes but I think he got better with each episode. The heroine was kinda okay. The rest of the casts were fantastic though.
Music : I don't like the sound effects, they were kinda overdone and sometimes very inappropriate at moments however I love the OSTs a lot, and it's very nice to listen to (I don't even know I could enjoy a Thai song where I understand nothing lol I need more of them!)
Rewatch Value : I'll watch it again someday, because it is one rather interesting show full of laughter.
Overall : The quality is pretty okay, nothing over the top amazing but it's worth watching if you're curious about it. :)

Amazing

This is absolutely one of my favorites. Top 10 for sure. I’ve watched it about 3 or 4 times. Unlike many other lackhorn this one offered a more entertaining and realistic plot. Okay, aside from the major initial swap, it was 100% realistic.
If you are looking for a romantic series that has some super natural elements to it you will absolutely love this one. It’s not overly dramatic or over-the-top at all it is a perfect Lee perfectly well balanced series. From beginning to end, it ran smoothly and kept me really entertained. No need to excessively fast forward because I was genuinely interested in what each person would do next whether it be action or humor. I also love the fact that they were no crazy relatives or insanely jealous females. They managed to pull this off without all the excessive drama. And it was still amazing.

There was a little action, a lot of chemistry, a lot of humor and a little mystery. And it was done beautifully.

What I liked most about this series is that it was not too slow and it was also not rushed. The writers did an amazing job giving simple flashbacks of the FL original personality in contrast to her present self. I really enjoyed how she was able to start over and redeem the other person.

The FL was smart, funny, bold and really kind. I enjoyed the fact that she was not a pushover and was able to sarcastically outwit anybody who attempted to look down on her. It was not your typical series but it was by far one of the best. I like the ML character and throughout the entire series he was able to maintain his sense of honor, loyalty and boldness.

The supporting cast were all great. Even the ones who were the servants. Their acting was no less amazing.

I highly recommend this one. Clearly as I have watched it more than three times I find it that great.
